The lacquer on the body has cured properly now. I did a little polishing but the lacquer is pretty tough so can't get the orange peel to disappear completely. I could wet sand it but I'm afraid I'd rub through, so before that happens I've decided it's good enough. I changed the carpet colour to darken it up a bit cos I thought the beige was a little too light. I'm happy with how it looks now and have started to complete the interior. I also added a driver foot mat made from foil I embossed using a ruler and scribe then painted black. Chassis and engine are ready to go in, just some foiling left to do on the body and I can start putting this one together.

Thanks, Carl. I darkened up the the carpet a bit and now looks even better:) I'll post some pictures soon.

Thanks, Mike. It should be available everywhere. It's called Fablon, or sticky back worktop covering. The dashboard is just brown paint lightly brushed over a black undercoat.

Thanks for the tip Dave, I didn't think about mats. I'm not keen on those as they hide most of the carpet, but you give me an idea! I made a foot mat for the driver side, the type that's part of the carpet seen in most cars. I've also changed the carpet colour and started on the foiling. Pictures to follow:)

That's a very creative use for a warped body, perfect for that cartoonish look! Very cool.

Trial fit of the interior tub and dash to see how the gold colours contrast with each other, I like it, though I think the carpet looks a bit out of place. No idea what colour I can use there instead, unless something comes to mind I'm fine with it. Just the steering wheel to do and the interior is finished.

It's taking shape. That's going to look really nice.

That's a stunning looking Rebel. I love the paint, very nice indeed!

Very nice, I love the Park Lane kit. I built one a couple of months back, also red interior.

Got the dash and body paint finished today. I'm happy with the colour, and even more happy with how the dash turned out. The body has had a couple of coats of lacquer. I'll flat back the orange peel and give it a polish when the lacquer has cured properly, then it's on to foiling.

It's sticky back fablon, it's pretty good stuff and comes in all sorts of grain and colours.

Now that's a quality build! Beautiful little sports car, very nicely done.

Nice, I've always liked the 944, and the 924.
-
Beautiful build there. There isn't a bad angle to view this car from, stunning design.

Nicely detailed engine. Are the door handles shaved or does the kit come like that? It looks good.
-
Mmmm, sleek! Lovely looking build, definitely looks the part.

This kit only comes as a custom build and only had the blower option, but I managed to find a Tri-power carb set up in my spares tin along with an intake, I'm a happy chappy now cos it was going to have the blower unit in there!

After spending way too long trying to decide what colour combo I wanted the interior, I just jumped in and went for the two tone gold. The package tray and seats are Champagne Gold with Solar Gold panels (same as body colour) and the carpet is beige. I was going to go with a black carpet but I think that might have been too dark. I've detailed the centre console using sticky back wood effect. I haven't got around to detailing the door cards or dashboard yet. The dashboard is very well detailed and I'm not sure I can trim the sticky back wood grain clean enough to use that there.

Cheers, Bob.

Thanks, Greg. Yeah, I love Pontiacs. I've built a few of them now and more to come!

Yes, I've seen a few different ways, including the dash you did on your recent Aerosedan, all good stuff. I have some sticky back wood effect which I have used to good effect on some of my previous builds, I'm getting "creative" with it right now! I'll post a picture soon.

Very nicely done. Can't wait to see the completed car!

Very nice. Glad this post got resurrected, I've been looking at this kit on ebay. Another Pontiac build for me I think:)
