  1. Thanks for the info on the clear and yes that interior has been very neatly detailed.
  2. That looks like a resin copy of the stock car? Great model to have.
  3. For Colonnade fans like myself here are a few pictures of a 1973 Cutlass S taken at Carlisle in 2013.
  4. Same here. I do wonder how it would react to a surface coated with Molotow or Alclad.
  5. Thank you Phillipe, Bill, Gareth, Larry, Craig and Bill. I considered doing an all red interior. I like the Dupli-Color lacquers but at times it can be tricky to get the metallic particles to look even. Which is why I find it important to spray the clear lightly on the first few coats.
  6. That clear has a great shine. Is it water based by any chance?
  7. Hopefully the new foil will have some type of label indicating it is in fact the original product. Otherwise, there is no way of knowing what you're receiving if it is just simply labeled bright chrome for example.
  8. Very neat and clean looking build. And definitely not the easiest kit to build from what I've heard. Haven't even attempted mine. Yet.
  9. Great work and the Bahama Blue looks very similar to Tamiya TS-54 in these pictures.
  10. Thanks for compliments Jim, Rusty and Ray. Thanks Mario, Eric and ea0863. Yeah, I have quite a few Monogram kits and never tire of building them. Thanks Nigel, I'm figuring ways of dealing with the marker lights on my next build of this kit. Thank you Chris, Bruce, Joel, and Harry. Thank you Bob, Michel, and Anton. I have more of these myself but that'll be later in the year however. Thank you Mike and David. I've thought of turning my '70 AMT kit into a convertible.
  11. Very impressive build. Great work on the engine detailing.
  12. This was built from a mid 90's reissue of what was originally the Monogram Malibu SS454 in 1/24 scale and molded in blue. Painted in Dupli-Color Bordeaux Red (Honda color) and cleared with Rust-Oleum Lacquer (green label can with highchair). I chose this color since it reminded me of the less commonly seen factory color Black Cherry. Trimmed off the rear quarter glass for the rolled down window look and highlighted the raised letter tires with an 05 Gelly Roll pen. As with my most recent build of this model I used a water based acrylic (Deco Art Americana) for the blacked out grill sections. I'm finding it produces a more even color than I've gotten in the past with hobby enamel flats. For blackwashed grill applications I would still tend to stick with thinned enamel. I included a mix of indoor and outdoor images. And lastly, I inadvertently ran the clear heavier on this one. While I was able to pick out the majority of the exterior detail (and more aggressively wet sand the finish) the "Chevelle" emblem on the trunk (which is lightly scripted) was left undone as were the rear marker lights. As much as I try I'll never get them perfect.....ugghh.
  13. Thanks, and that is a fine looking car.
  14. Very nice work. I have one of these promo models in Cinnabar and an original MPC "Class Action" kit. This would be a potential color combination for that build.
  15. Turned out very nice and the two toned interior really stands out. I agree with having fun with them. I basically build "factory like" but usually not totally factory correct since I enjoy adding my own creative touches.
  16. Looks great Ray and an excellent job picking out the emblems on the hood and front fenders.
  17. Paint looks beautiful and great job detailing the rear marker lights. It just so happens I'm currently working on this kit which will be my third of this model. Simple kit that builds up very nicely.
  18. Good to know. I wasn't even thinking of the varnish layer.
  19. That's interesting information and I haven't used that version of Tamiya putty to this point. Will have to get some. Out of curiosity are the Tamiya putties safe to use on the older kits (Monogram etc.) which are typically softer plastics. I ask because I used the white to smooth out a trunk of an older kit with sink marks and a few months after the car was finished there were multiple depressions in what had previously been a smoothed surface after using the putty.

    The wife's car

Excellent work and the color is beautiful especially with the white interior. And if it was a factory color possibly Tahitian Turquoise as Rusty mentioned or Danube blue was also offered that year.
  21. Great looking build and that interior detailing is just fabulous.
  22. Great build and a very attractive color combination. For me there are two items that stick out on this build that I'd like to incorporate into a build eventually. One is whitewalls on a musclecar and second is the opening trunk.
  23. Turned out nice and I like that the rub strips on the bumpers were detailed.
  24. Great looking build and color which appears similar to Tamiya TS-20. Nice work picking out the rear marker lights and grill divider. I'm often surprised Round 2 doesn't mold a simple drivers side mirror which could be used on a number of different models from this era.
