Wow, that is a really nice looking build. Color combination really jumps out.

Excellent work and a treat to see one of these more rarely posted '67-'68 Cougars.

Every aspect of the build turned out excellent and I like how the carpeted area is detailed. I concur with what Craig mentioned about these old Monogram and it's why I have so many in my collection.

AMT '63 Chevy custom done using all custom parts in the box
AMT68 replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in Model Cars
Very impressive work with all the modifications. -
Great looking Oldsmobile. I'd remembered these had painted bumpers but I'd forgotten they had the fender striping since I really haven't seen many builds of the Rallye 350.

REVELL 1969 DODGE DAYTONA (yeah, another Charger)
AMT68 replied to happy grumpy's topic in Model Cars
Great looking Charger Mario and that blended color looks super. -
Thanks Carl. Yeah I remember the days of looking forward to the new cars being introduced by the manufacturers. Back when I liked the styling of cars such as this Caprice and many others. Thanks Tony. For me the trim on this one takes patience. While that bodyside molding is wide it lacks a crisp edge so I ran thin strips of blue tape over the foil at each edge to use as a trimming guide.

Great looking Mustang. The white stripes on the bright red car really make a statement.

Thank you Walter and Phil. Thanks Rob. I built this from the current reissue and it's contents are the same as the vintage box art version in your photograph. The wheel covers are that bright on the chrome tree. Sometimes I prefer to tone down wheel covers with either Testors Dullcote or a light coat of Tamiya TS-71 smoke. The kit goes together quite well but both times I've built this one the hood has been warped and required a soak in warm water with some gentle bending to straighten it out.. As for the paint work I have improved in the last five years but once in a while I won't get the base colored evenly or the clear will be unacceptable and I'll have to send it to the pond for stripping. So I'm a constant work in progress.

That looks great and first time I've seen one of these done as a posted coupe. Excellent job on the opening doors, trunk and cargo area detailing.

Thanks Eric, James and Rich. Some of the trim lines that are foiled are quite narrow on this one. Thanks Mike and Terry. Thanks Alan. I try to focus on the small details to make them as realistic as I possibly can. Thank you Trevor, Bruce and Larry. As someone who has a fondness for these cars I'm glad they reissued this one. Thanks Mario, I've found it's all about photographing in just the right sunlight. Thanks Gerald. These kits are still out there at reasonable prices. Thanks D Petterway. I personally feel these large cars look best with vinyl tops. Thanks Jay. I agree the headlights aren't the best and I just used a thin coat of white glue followed by a few coats of Mod Podge. As for the wheel covers I actually prefer the look of the '75 Caprice standard wheel covers. Thank you Glen. Thanks David. I agree with you on the color and often times Firethorn was paired with a Buckskin interior which I could've used on this one. Thanks Mike. I continue to make an effort to improve my photography. Thanks Steve. I have the one AMT kit where the box art model has the A-pillar trim detailed incorrectly. Thanks David. Thanks Andy. Thanks Craig. I've found wet sanding lightly before the last couple coats reduces the amount of time I spend on the final wet sanding.

1983 Cadillac Coupe DeVille (mildly weathered "original paint" style)
AMT68 replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Model Cars
Nice work on the conversion and the weathering. Those wire wheel covers really do work well on that Cadillac. I have this kit in my collection unbuilt and always wondered what might work best to represent a factory look for the wheel covers and now I know. -
Second build of the 1/25 scale '76 Caprice from the most recent reissue a few years ago. Painted in Dupli-Color Ford Toreador Red with Rust-Oleum for the clear coat. I clipped the mounting points above the resonators so the exhaust wouldn't sit as low at the rear of the car. I also replaced the rather nondescript exhaust tips with 3/32" styrene rods.

Very nice build and I'm impressed with the overall look of the body. I owned a '73 LeMans coupe so I really appreciate seeing this one.

Very interesting I'd always wondered why cars like my '74 Malibu Classic typically had the two barrel versions of the 350 and 400 for that matter. And no option of the four barrel outside of California. I had no clue the Monza was available with the 350 engine. Remarkably that's more cubic inches than the '80 Corvette which if I'm not mistaken was only available that year with a 305 in California. As a car buff for that era thanks for the enlightenment.

Excellent eye catching build and the color looks great on that GTO.

That turned out great. I'll have to experiment with your carpet material sometime as it looks interesting.

I owned '73 and '74 Colonnade coupes and while they were nice cars I can relate to what you've written. Most notably with both of them was drivability issues when first starting out in humid conditions. Post '75 G.M. vehicles I owned were less problematic in that regard due to what you've described and I'd imagine the high energy ignitions. With respect to the article John posted I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 455 in the Trans Am was dropped after '74 only to be reintroduced during '75 due to customer demand. At 200 H.P. it was basically the station wagon engine and a drop of 50 H.P from the '74 offering. Interesting article as I didn't realize an emissions choked (as they all were) 360 in the '76 Dart could achieve such a high speed.

Wow, that is very nice. Great color combination and detailing on the seat pattern.

Another well engineered and highly detailed model Andy. I particularly like the swivel seats.
-
Well executed build as always David. The multi tone interior looks perfect for that era. I've never built a Moebius kit but it's apparent they are nicely detailed models.

Great looking paint work on a really sharp looking Bird. Those cars had such beautifully designed interiors.
