Despite its limitations, I've always like the old Monogram 32 Roadster kit. And this is a fantastic build of that kit. Great proportions and color choice!

Well, I chopped a 32 sedan BEFORE I read this thread, some really good tips I could have used.. hahaha.. but here it is.. I cut too much off the B pillars so it ended up being a 'wedge' chop, but it looks good. Randomly, and purely unintentional, the Orange Crate windshield frame fits perfectly in the opening. The trouble I'm having is filling the seams and not obscuring the details around the windows and lining up the door lines. I did have to put a relief cut behind the A pillar, then notch the front to lean it back to meet the roof. It's not great, but it's not terrible, I may end up building this car. Thinking about a drag sedan with parts from the Revell Stone Woods & Cook Willys.

I hate these kits for reasons of bad proportions: AMT 32 Fords The monogram 57 Chevy with the really square roof and grille AMT 33-34 Ford Sedans, the 5w coupe is Ok.. barely. The 60 Pontiac Bonneville by Trumpeter. The roof is way too short. I saw someone on FB fix this with an AMT 62 Chevy Bubbletop roof. The Revell 34 Ford Coupe. Proportions off, and horrible to build. Many of the old Revell kits with lots of opening doors and trunks never went together well for me. I steered clear and stuck to AMT or Monogram after a few bad experiences. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I've been building for 40 years, so I'm sure there are some I've forgotten.

Lookin' good! Don't mean to be "that guy", but just a heads up, the quick change center section is upside down. They are flat on the bottom, the hump goes up towards the floors.

40-56 Cadillacs. I know there was a Revell kit of a 56? I believe, but no mid 50's Cadillacs with modern tooling and accuracy. I do have a built old 57 Eldorado Brougham. The 40's Cadillacs would make great models, stock or as customs. A 47 Convertible would be the Bees Knees. 50-57 Buick 50-57 Olds (I know there's a 49 Olds kit that is much like a 50.) 50-57 Pontiacs. (I guess I love Harley Earl era GM cars) Other 32 Ford body styles based on the Revell Kit: - 32 Phaeton ( not the AMT one) - 32 B400 -32 Roadster pickup with correct cab and commercial grille -32 Woody -32 Victoria (not the AMT one) -32 Fordor (Drag City makes a nice one) Any year early Ford Woody, especially a 40 Ford Woody 37-38 Chevy Sedan I think that'll do it for now, I'll probably think of more later....

This truck is RAD! I loved those fan billet wheels when they came in the 37 sedan kit. I put them on everything.

Man the chop looks great. I just started the chop on a 32 sedan last night. What did you do to get the A pillars to line up? I had to tilt mine back a bit. Also, small suggestion: you could pinch those front rails by sectioning the crossmember. Then then stubby frame rails would be hidden behind the grille shell. I did it on a 1/8 big deuce and it turned out really nice. The headlights are in the way, but the front of the frame is hidden behind the grille.

The doghouse is essentially the grille shell, when you remove the grille from a 37-38 Chevy it looks like a doghouse. It houses the radiator, grille and the headlights attach to it. I assume you were asking about the wheel color? I feel like it's a little dark, but I used graphite spray. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Blaster-5-5-oz-Industrial-Graphite-Dry-Lubricant-8-GS/202597501 Even though it's technically lubricant, it sprays like paint. Sounds weird, I know. But I saw a video of a guy on youtube painting his 1:1 aluminum torque thrusts with it to look like magnesium.

I just got here, so I'm a little late. Seriously, before 2020 it had been a good 3-4 years before I'd worked on anything... but so much time at home got me building again. It was a nice mix of box stock builds and all-out builds. (as I call them). The 32 sedan and Chevy gasser were the all out builds, the Black Widow and the Eliminator coupe were the easy, relaxing box stock builds. I tend to alternate so I don't get burned out. My eyes are tired so I've got a 1/12 67 Corvette on deck that will be a box stock build.

Very nice. I also have one of these I picked up cheap that wasn't broken. My grandfather had several 41 Cadillacs, at least one 60 special and the last one he had was a series 62 coupe. He always carried a couple 50 pound bags of sand in the trunks to lower the rears of them... in combo with their already wore out original springs, they sat pretty low. I tell that story because I was thinking of lowering mine a bit, to resemble the 41 Cads he had.

Proportions are really important to me. I grew up around Hot Rods and and Customs so I know what a Mercury, even a custom one should look like. Revell really missed the boat on this offering. The AMT kit is much more correct. So I built the AMT kit using a lot of cool parts from the Revell kit. The only mod I did was flush mount the skirts.

This is the most recent Round 2 version of the AMT 37 Chevy. I had a partial Modelhaus 38 Chevy conversion kit on the shelf for over 20 years. The kit 37 grille is so bad (not resembling a 1:1 37 grille very much) so I used what I had of the conversion kit which was the hood, grille and one bumper. The Modelhaus kit came with the correct 38 doghouse but that got lost long ago. So I made the 38 grille and hood work on the 37 doghouse. Only 37-38 Chevy experts will know the difference. Anyway, this kit has a great decal sheet, and tires. I used drag city castings small window Halibrands for wheels. Painted to resemble tarnished magnesium. The paint was fun to do. The Hay Auto decal is my personal logo I printed on decal sheet.

That's really neat. My dad had two real 41 60 specials. One was black, I have the Danbury Mint version, but I need to pick up this 1:18 scale beauty! Nice job on the converstion.

Here is a Drag City Fordor I just finished over the Holidays. I'll be posting more 32's as I get pictures. Revell parts pack Cadillac engine, lots of parts stolen from the new Revell Model A roadster kit. Tamiya colors cleared with testor's "Extreme Clear" Lacquer. Hand painted old style flames, inspired by Lee Pratt's coupe he built recently.
