I'm doing a group build on YouTube with some other content creators. I had a hard time deciding what to build so at the last minute I went with the old Monogram 37 Ford Tudor. It's been 25 years or so since I've built this kit. I had a vision of making it an early Kustom, so here's what I've got so far.

When I was a kid I predominantly built Monogram models, with AMT coming in 2nd. I rarely built Revell because back in the 80's they seemed hard to put together and were persnickety.

48 Ford Ranchero

A friend of mine Sid Drapal built one of these, using a 40-47 cab, 46-47 hood and the 48 passenger car grille, with a couple extra bars at the bottom to add height. -
This is a great build! Plastic polished up real nice!

That’s awesome! Where did you get the wheels?

Mr Metallic answered your question. it’s a 32 cowl and doors from the 32 Roadster kit from Revell.

I finally did it. I've had this idea that I could make an AMT phaeton and a Revell roadster body have a baby, so I could build a Phaeton on a Revell chassis. It wasn't too hard. The build will be a highboy, for reasons explained in the video below. It wasn't a perfect conversion, but it'll work for my purposes. More details here

Really clean! Curtains are a nice touch. I built the Mooneyes version of this kit but it was more of a curbside version, as there were no hinges for the doors or detailed door panels included. I could see that the doors were meant to be opened though.

Here's a link to a more in depth video of the build. I started a YouTube channel, focusing on building cars, models and 1:1.

Thanks Dennis! There are endless possibilities with this kit. I’m sure whatever you decide it’ll be awesome!

Thanks guys!

Finally finished this one. Inspired by the Wes Collin's Roadster that is being recreated by Mark Skipper in Fresno, I wanted to do a 34 Ford as an early Kustom. I didn't feel like turning the car into a roadster, I don't think I have the skill to pull it off, so I built the Cabriolet version. This is the 1962 issue of the 34 Ford Coupe/Cabriolet. I highly recommend picking one up if you can find one under $100. Many cool parts. Mods and Parts: Chopped top, 36 Ford Headlights, 41 Lincoln Bumpers and steering wheel, scratch built skirts, smoothed gas tank cover with frenched license plate. Sombrero Caps are from the Revell 49 Mercury kit. Paint is Tamiya Pearl Light Red (TS59 I think). Engine is from the revell 40 Ford kits, with pulleys, generator and upper radiator hoses from the Revell 32 Sedan kit. Front suspension is the Revell 30 Model A, rear end is box stock banjo with a heavily modified crossmember to get it low in the rear. Dash has a 40 Ford deluxe gauge cluster in the 34 dash. It doesn't have quite the swoopy look as the real life roadster with duvall windshield (see link above). But nevertheless it looks the part of a late 40's early 50's Kustom. Some of you may say I should have painted the running boards white, but white running boards were a late 50's-60's thing, so it wouldn't have been correct.

Wow. That thing is killer!

Coming together, probably be the last post, I’ll post finished photos in a new thread in under glass.

That’s even more impressive knowing you only use brushes! Amazing!
-
That’s killer! I really need to learn how to do weathering.
-
You did a fantastic job because that’s not an easy kit to build! I have one that I parted out to other projects because it was difficult.
-
I had a plan to build a California Kid with this kit but I was able to buy a Danbury Mint die cast Kid dirt cheap so I lost interest in building one.

Good lookin 3w! I can appreciate the work you put into the hood to make it fit and the beaded opening for the headers.
-
Thanks! Agreed, this is the best 33-34 kit, and it’s a shame it isn’t reissued with updates like the Revell 32 kits. I think it would be a good seller, I’d buy 5 of them at least.

Andy Brizio built wild psychedelic painted T's back in the 60's and 70's, and he has been also referred to as "The Rodfather". I think it's safe to assume this kit was based on Andy Brizio's builds. Andy is father to famous hot rod builder Roy Brizio. Great build!

I always enjoy a nice, clean, box-stock build. It also reminds me how nice the Revell 32 kits are. Great job!
