Jon Cole replied to whale392's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Stalled projects… Warren Tope ’71 Mustang ‘37/’57 Ford ‘58 Impala Conv; just bought the ’57 Black Widow for the fuelie. I found some decals for the seats too. Going to bash the promo; the SS kit, and a Buick GN to get a model of the ’85 Elky GN I used to have. Integra Speedster 320i Gp. 5 GTX The ’57 / ’58 Plymouth is back in one piece now… I just need to find the desire to start on it again -
It's that time. I just got my Aug/Sep Issue

Mine arrived yesterday. That's all that matters. Sooner or later, the mag arrives. Meantime, maybe Gregg could start... a web site for us model geeks? Something to pass the time between... what? Huh? Oh... Nevermind. -
Christian! That era Caprice are hard to find even over here! They were also widely used as police cars, that image always come to mind when I see one. Fix that rust blister & dent! It will be worth it. Enjoy your new ride!

I don’t know if I can help you, Mike. I’m not sure of the description. I have used thin plastic strip to replicate drip rail, I found the corners will bend tighter if they are softened with some liquid cement first.

Ooops. I deleted the pic in the OP from my Fotki, and it disappeared from here. You're not missing much.

Awesome Gremlin build!

Maybe the shipping was on time, until the donkey died? The current Charger, which has been on the streets for I believe at least five years, will have been replaced with a new car by time this "new" kit finally hits the shelves. This model kit has been in the planning stages for about as long, if not longer. Maybe we can add Lindberg issue dates to the list of the top lies? I.E: The check is in the mail...

crushed glass dirt racers
Jon Cole replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Like I said, I could be wrong. According to my wife, I'm always wrong LoL! Buried down in my dungeon somewhere, I had a big jar of silver flake; the kind they used on customs back in the 70's and earlier. You would need a lot of clear to bury that stuff! I just think it odd to go thru all that work to use crushed glass, or flake on a race car. Every now and again, it does happen... a racing "show" car. For example, there has been more than one stock car done up in "chrome"; one of which was DW. -
Pontiac ends after 84 years

Talk about a long, drawn out death. Still sucks to see the brand that brought us the GTO, go. Still need to add a year to this. -
They do look good in white!

When is a Chrysler; not?
Jon Cole replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Or maybe, just maybe, not everyone thinks your described "Urban Assault Styling" is all bad? I mean, if every vehicle was designed with the same exact design cues as they did 30+ years ago, whoud that be.. progress? You must progress, there is no denying it. Change is inevitable. Safety sells... nowadays. Fed regs require better passenger protection, thus a more "cocooning". That is progress... you can welcome it, or, it can run you over! -
crushed glass dirt racers

Crushed glass? Crushed glass? No. Not buying it. As previously stated, glass originates from sand. Sand in a paintjob = one crappy job, i.e. spraying a car in the middle of a sandpit on a windy day. Why would someone intentionally do that? But I could be wrong. -
CHECK YOUR STASH!!!!!!

ZOMBIES! Blame it on zombies! -
I have to agree with most of that. Most people liked Elvis for his music... I admired him because he would shoot his TV when it annoyed him. Now that is entitlement. Anyhow, our 'antique' TV is starting to blink out, so we will be soon upgrading. News and movies are what I am into. With one or two exceptions, everything else is pure garbage. Novacaine for the brain. Just waiting for the best "Black Friday" deal!

Ya'all done did good! On Wednesday July 30, 2003 the last Beetle left the production line at Volkswagen de Mexico in Puebla.

If they are going with this "boutique" showroom & dealer idea, then... I guess we won't be seeing too many of them around here. Maybe one of the Boston 'burbs will have a dealer. The 500GT actually looks cool! -
Nice Model - Nice Price Too!
Jon Cole replied to impcon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would say you are correct on at least two counts... that is one nice model; almost has a "promo" look to it. Also that rear axle is a bit further back than it should be. As for price, the true value of the car is whatever someone is willing to pay. People pay as much if not more for old promos with warped plastic. -
Jeez, Marcos! That is one nice build! Your color choice looks great; not the 'standard' yellow or red. Thanks for sharing.
