  1. Both nice! Please share more pics of each... especially that Caddy!
  2. If all it needs to be finished is the rear bumper, then.... why didn't you just finish it? Nice model, but I never quite understood why we never add that one last piece. And it certainly isn't just you!
  3. Tom, that 442 just oozes style! Everything just looks right together. Good job!
  4. I'm going with the first impression... real.
  5. Put a wing on the back! Just because you can!
  6. A Ford Fairmont? I do recall a cartoon... I think it was in the now defunct 'Car Modeler' magazine. Guy opens up a model kit labeled "Ford Fairmont". Out comes two blocks... one long one for the body, the other shorter for the greenhouse. A puzzled look from the builder.
  7. Peter, this rocks! Giving the R8 the Badass treatment... yes!
  8. Classic, memorable, iconic... 9. These drill bits we use are, imho, way too small and fragile to ever use in a power anything. Use a hand twist drill only. You will have more control, and little if any melting.
  10. I use wooden stirring sticks; have been from back in the days when you could get them for stirring coffee. Now I buy a bag of 100 at Michaels. I like the feel of sinking the stick in the paint... too much resistance means the paint is shot.
  11. I know several people just like that.
  12. Many of us have had difficulty using their product with the exception of their original Chrome BMF. Just beware if you have a problem getting the black BMF to stick, try instead to spray a section of a chrome BMF sheet with your favorite satin black paint.
  13. Go on to Google. Type in "Catapillar Yellow". It comes up with a bunch of brands that offer Catapillar Yellow.
  14. I have been told that the caster that makes it is in Australia.
  15. With the bit still in my handle, I just squeeze on the bit between my finger & thumb, then twist the handle backward. As the bit backs out of your digits, the plastic comes right off.
  16. I don't have Photobucket. Without an actual link to the page, it's not happening.
  17. Glad to hear she won't need surgery. I just healed from a broken ankle this past winter... no fun! Doc said I will "be aware" of the ankle long after it heals... maybe a year or more. The doc was right. I hope Carol heals, and puts no pressure on that ankle!
  18. Wait a minute! More reference material found! COBRA Movie car @ Planet Hollywood in NYC I say that is still easy to fabricate! Besides... is that really the actual movie car? That scoop looks taller than the other pics. Perhaps the entire PH car is just a fiberglas knock-off?
  19. That hood scoop looks easy to scratch-build from scrap plastic. The hard part is finding a photo of it from a higher angle... hard to judge what the shape is from that angle. If no photo exists... fake it! Just use your best judgement. Remember, if you cannot tell what shape it is, then... neither can anyone else looking at your finished model!
  20. Modelhaus lists a 1950 Mercury dash for $3.00 Also suggest starting the bullit holes with a small moto tool grind head, slight dimple the surface b4 you actually drill the holes.
  21. In the book “Standard Catalog of AMERICAN CARS 1946-1975â€, models are listed chronologically. After the all-new 1949 Mercury, the following description appears for the 1950 model: “For 1950, the letters of the word MERCURY were embedded in chrome on the front of the hood. The signal lights were chrome encased, in a fashion similar to that used on the 1948 Cadillac. The design of the trunk chrome was altered, as was the tip on the side spear. The biggest change was made to the dash, it was completely restyled.†It sounds like you could do a custom 1950 Merc from either the AMT or Revell ’49 Merc. Note bullit holes in the trunk:
  22. So apparently I am the only one that took, and posted a link to pics from this show? Well, at least from this board... at least one other person did likewise on Spotlight. So next time we hear someone say, as I always seem to hear... "I don't need to take my camera, others will be taking photos".... remember, this is it! And there were far more models that I didn't photograph, than models I did take a photo of! Although... I did see others taking pics. Maybe they are not on these forums? How do we motivate others to share their photos?
  23. I read the op three times... something is missing. Who is the article about (the husband)? And what is his name?
