  1. I don't have Photobucket. Without an actual link to the page, it's not happening.
  2. Glad to hear she won't need surgery. I just healed from a broken ankle this past winter... no fun! Doc said I will "be aware" of the ankle long after it heals... maybe a year or more. The doc was right. I hope Carol heals, and puts no pressure on that ankle!
  3. Wait a minute! More reference material found! COBRA Movie car @ Planet Hollywood in NYC I say that is still easy to fabricate! Besides... is that really the actual movie car? That scoop looks taller than the other pics. Perhaps the entire PH car is just a fiberglas knock-off?
  4. That hood scoop looks easy to scratch-build from scrap plastic. The hard part is finding a photo of it from a higher angle... hard to judge what the shape is from that angle. If no photo exists... fake it! Just use your best judgement. Remember, if you cannot tell what shape it is, then... neither can anyone else looking at your finished model!
  5. Modelhaus lists a 1950 Mercury dash for $3.00 Also suggest starting the bullit holes with a small moto tool grind head, slight dimple the surface b4 you actually drill the holes.
  6. In the book “Standard Catalog of AMERICAN CARS 1946-1975â€, models are listed chronologically. After the all-new 1949 Mercury, the following description appears for the 1950 model: “For 1950, the letters of the word MERCURY were embedded in chrome on the front of the hood. The signal lights were chrome encased, in a fashion similar to that used on the 1948 Cadillac. The design of the trunk chrome was altered, as was the tip on the side spear. The biggest change was made to the dash, it was completely restyled.†It sounds like you could do a custom 1950 Merc from either the AMT or Revell ’49 Merc. Note bullit holes in the trunk:
  7. So apparently I am the only one that took, and posted a link to pics from this show? Well, at least from this board... at least one other person did likewise on Spotlight. So next time we hear someone say, as I always seem to hear... "I don't need to take my camera, others will be taking photos".... remember, this is it! And there were far more models that I didn't photograph, than models I did take a photo of! Although... I did see others taking pics. Maybe they are not on these forums? How do we motivate others to share their photos?
  8. I read the op three times... something is missing. Who is the article about (the husband)? And what is his name?
  9. Sorry guys, I don't know who built those. That is one advantage that NNL's have over contests like this one... the builders can put their name on the registration tags. The few models that I know who built, I will go back and label.
  10. Well, I screwed that up royally, didn't I? Sorry about that. I corrected the original link, I'm also adding it here as well, and I will check it to make sure it works. Thanks for your patience. http://public.fotki.com/JCole/model_car_shows/classic-plastic-2010/
  11. BTW Emanuel, that car is available in plastic by more than one manufacturer. Both Revell, and Revell-Germany issued it, as well as Fujimi
  12. If you can find some 2-part epoxy, it works great for joining dissimiliar materials, such as plastic to metal.
  13. CORRECTED LINK: http://public.fotki.com/JCole/model_car_shows/classic-plastic-2010/ Attendance seemed down this year. Good to meet old friends again. Be sure to check out pics # 53, and # 54!
  14. Curt, this is going to be one of "those" builds, isn't it? As in "Over The Top" The Atlantic is an iconic car of style... I think you'll do good!
  15. The green car was built by Darren B; the pink car was built by vw1953. If they don't want to fix their pics, then perhaps someone could post their own builds, thus pushing the silly photos off the page. That in turn may knock the boards assumed maturity level back up a notch or two.
  16. Nice! I don't recall ever seeing the Audi rally available in Sanyo sponsorship... did those decals come in the kit; or are they aftermarket?
  17. Welcome to the board. Unfortunately, you have already shot the horse (threw the kit away), so seeking advice on how to fix it is moot. I don't have the kit in question, but I am sure others here can help you. Did you build it according to instructions? Occasionally, the instructions are not 100% accurate. Test fitting sub assemblies is suggested. Building models can be a test of patience. If you can go find the kit parts, maybe you will find out what is in the way. Can you post a photo of the parts, if you find them?
  18. Ha. Ha. Cars at the top of the board pointing in different directions. Funny at first... now it just looks stupid. The joke is over people. There is very limited space to display model cars up there, let's use it wisely. Just sayin'....
  19. Classic Plastic Model Club hosts out 18th annual competition this Sunday in Lawrence, Ma. http://www.classicplastic.org/
  20. Two words that go hand in hand… “Corvairâ€, and “dangerousâ€. The early models had that funky right-angle axle to hub rear suspension… only one u-joint per halfshaft. We have a rural road that runs through a small town; there is an ‘S’ bend near the towns center. Not a level ‘S’ bend, but a rather pronounced dip in the road. Just to keep it interesting, it has railroad tracks running across it. I took the curve one day in my ’63 Corvair Spyder doing maybe 30. The back end went airborne, and when it landed, it took the entire width of the road to straighten it out. My new girlfriend was not amazed for some reason… but I found it rather fun! I did gain a new respect for what that car was able to do!
  21. Not your father's Oldsmobile! Nice job.
  22. And I mean that in the most humble, and respectful way!
  23. Les Osborne - owner of Redline - died at least a year ago. It's a shame; his door handles are great.
  24. As a card carrying Pack Rat, I tend to save most every box. I even cut up and save the sprue!
