  1. Thanks Dave. After doing some research, it looks like soldering aluminum is difficult to do well. My only options are RB Motion, or go with truck arms, or leaf springs. I am working on a tricked out '37 Ford pickup. Sometimes it feels like I make things too complicated! Now I have to choose.
  2. I saw them on vendors tables in the photos I have seen here from the NNL West.
  3. I dunno... nothin' says nice seat covers like "Snickers"!
  4. Now I have seen a lot of '49 Mercs, but that one just shines! It is so... clean! It is what I would have in a '49 Merc. Two thumbs up!
  5. Nice! Working lights? Working lights! Is that the Tamiya kit? Is it a large scale?
  6. Someone at the past few NNL East events has offered a limited variety of Perry's Resin products for sale. A little confusion here on what Randy Frost offers... does he no longer make these wheels, or just not offer them for sale via mail? I am under the impression the latter is the case.
  7. Where do you find these Harry? Anyhow, another tough one. I guess REAL. Love that camera reflection on the rear bumper!
  8. Well I'm out of luck then Dave. My whole life is a series of guesses (usually bad ones!)
  9. Some thing to consider if you like... use a Post-It note to hold the window as you insert it in position. Or use Post-Its to "mask" off the glass as you handle it. My favorite clear adhesive is two part epoxy, if any excess squeezes out, I wait for it to partially cure to rubber cement consistancy, and use a toothpick to peel it up. Thanks for reading.
  10. What a great build! A visual stunner.
  11. Hey Marty- you did good on the Prowler! Nice paint too! What a diff ditching the front fenders is!
  12. Ed! Those are amazing! How did you make those?
  13. That is some serious glue damage to the windshield. I'd take that to mean this would make a good "speedster" sans windscreen, or a scratchbuilt one!
  14. In 1:1 auto refinishing, not everything is always a "strip & refinish". Is this car you are referring to absolutely need to be stripped? Perhaps a good wet-sand to level out the surface, topped by a primer-sealer if needed? Whatever the case, I hope it works out for you.
  15. Man, that Mini pegs the "Funky-Meter"!
  16. Well, now you have one heck of an addition to your junk box! Maybe you can scavenge it for parts? Most important, why did the primer fail to cure? What did you use for a primer? How much did you apply? I am trying to figure out if the model warped due to heat, or chemical reaction, or both?
  17. Absolutely, Dave! That is an area I have steered clear of, as I didn't think it could be done to scale. I would like to learn new stuff.
  18. I need to fab a rear suspension on a street rod. I am using a Revell '32 Ford for certain parts such as rear axle, but I would rather see aluminum parts back there such as trailing arms. How do I make a typical trailing arm? I see it as three pieces; the center bar, and a short tube at each end at a right angle to the middle bar. OK, three pieces... aluminum K&S tube, ...how to assemble? Solder it? Glue it? I have 1/16" aluminum. Oh, while you're reading this, I wouldn't mind knowing how to do rod ends and Heim joints too. Please advise. Thanks!
  19. Harry, maybe it's a birth defect? Not only is the show rod looking good, but so does Mr. Bones. It's refreshing to see someone attempt to detail a skeleton! They're not just white.
  20. Zelkam, (your real name? It's a board rule) that is one sweet phantom El Camino! BTW, I just watched the movie "District 9", and I highly recommend avoiding the "black juice"!
  21. Want some reference pics? I have some. Go to the link: http://public.fotki.com/JCole/11_mopar-1/11_mopar-_viper__prowler/
  22. I just saw a video clip of this crash on CNN. The rail did a hard left, on its right side. The free tire did a BIG bounce, and went maybe 30' to 50' in the air. Sadly, I don't think a catch fence would have stopped the tire. Irregardless, they should consider fencing.
  23. Nice canyon ripper!
  24. Fan dies after hit by debris from NHRA crash Woman struck by tire from a crashing dragster in Arizona race CHANDLER, Ariz. - A woman died Sunday after being hit by a tire from a crashing dragster at the NHRA Arizona Nationals. The woman was watching a first-round Top Fuel run at Firebird International Raceway when Antron Brown’s Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster went out of control on the strip and its left rear wheel came off. Alia Maisonet, a spokeswoman for the Gila River Indian Community, said the woman was airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital for treatment and later died. Gila River emergency responders were among the first to respond to the scene. Maisonet said she didn’t know the victim’s name or hometown. “The entire NHRA community is deeply saddened by today’s incident and sends its thoughts and prayers to the woman’s family and friends,†the association said in an e-mailed statement. Franki Buckman, the track’s executive vice president, said Firebird International Raceway also is deeply saddened by the incident. Brown was released by the track medical staff, but went to Chandler Regional Hospital for further observation, according to a statement put out by Don Schumacher Racing before the woman died. The NHRA said Brown wasn’t injured. The racing continued after the accident, and John Force advanced to his second straight Funny Car final before the session was postponed because of rain. Force, the 60-year-old star who ended a 40-race winless streak last week with his record 127th victory, will meet Jack Beckman on Monday. Reported by Associated Press
  25. UPDATE- I am fairly certain the epoxy is not the culprit. I have used it on my current build, including the previous day without problem. I suspect the plastic. It was purchased from a hobby shop many years ago. It is a medium dark grey, and somewhat glossy. What types of plastic besides styrene do hobby shops sell?
