  1. Thanks all for all this great info! Ironically I just made my own control arm ends, I was thinking I could use them for a mount at one end. The rod is 1/16" the hole I drilled is #68 drill bit. When I go to the NNL East I may look at the stuff that RB Motion has.
  2. Darin, This is looking like museum quality build. And I have to applaud anyone who can build over twenty models of one particular car! I'd say that qualifies you as the resident Cobra expert!
  3. Way cool Porsche projects Darin! That Speedster sure looks familiar... PORSCHE Carrera Panamericana. It was built as a showcar & as a present for Herr Porsche's birthday in 1989.
  4. Man, it would be a shame to hide that beaut of a four banger inside a car!
  5. Nice muscle car!
  6. Would make a neat gasser!
  7. I did defroster lines once. Doubt I will try that again, a real pita. I laid down a piece of Scotch tape, and colored it with a brown marker. Then using a new #11 blade and a metal straight edge, start cutting ultra thin pinstripes. Eventually I got one stripe to lay down where I wanted it. I did get the window done eventually. Wish I had a pic. Can be done tho.
  8. "This one is nowhere near good enough for a contest, but it got the idea out of my head, and it takes a good picture, so I'm satisfied." Mike, Don't underestimate yourself. Many a contest win happens to a model the builder thought didn't have a chance! We all know our own mistakes, but not so for judges, they have to find it on their own. Besides, the "WOW!" factor on that is over the top!
  9. I finished this one last week. This one got me thru some long boring days waiting for the fibula to heal. It is a Revell Pro Finish. I did the grill with a Sharpie Industrial marker as I couldn't get to my paints. I did have some Detailer black, I used it to tone down the wheels.
  10. This topic started with a pic of a Hummer stage coach. Me'es says it was in the toilet from the get-go! No disrespect to the person posting that pic. Speaking of toilets... Limos? Rented at "Pimps 'r Us" no doubt! Bling. Bling. Next one is self explanatory: Hummer disabled by a pebble:
  11. I don't know. I was lucky, they had my color!
  12. I like the H1. The H2 & H3 are nothing more than Hummer wannabe's, courtesy GM designed for increased sales. Someone here posted that Hummer should have stayed a niche model. I agree. In 2004 a local Classic Rock station gave a refurbished Humvee away. It was crude, no doors, but it did have a $5000 stereo system. Oh I wanted that thing sooo bad! They qualified 125 listeners, I was one of them. The number I drew... only two numbers off. I was that close! THIS is who I lost it to... Like she knew what the heck to do with it!
  13. The number one reason to own a Hummer H1: TRAFFIC JAMS!
  14. I have one pair of coil overs from R&D Unique, but I need 4. How do you make them? I suspect the springs wouldn't be too hard to find (ball point pens), but the rest? I have K&S aluminum rod in 1/16, 3/32, and 1/8" I also have some plastic rod. I don't however have a lathe.
  15. Heh! Heh! Yeah, it is! Guess I got carried away. Or it's Alzheimers. Anyway, I deleted it. Ya gotta love a msg. board that lets us edit and delete our stuff! Can't do that on Spotlight!
  16. I never watch the show, but is that the Captain who just passed away? Seems like I saw on the news about a month ago that the captain of a crab boat that is featured on a Discovery Channel (IIRC) died. He was in his 50's.
  17. Mike, what exactly are you referring to when you refer to "Enthusiast kits"? The steelies for the 959 is a great idea! Where did you get the inserts?
  18. He wants to hook it up to a pair of horses? Oh yeah! "Umm, I wouldn't touch that... it's not an A/C vent" "What can brown do for you?"
  19. Oh! That's your FIRST model?! That's so good, it's like skipping high school and going straight to Big Time U!!! Well done! Be sure to add more as it happens.
  20. Excellent. Maybe Nick will keep us up to speed with the pics for you? I have seen one hardtop conversion of the '72 Olds already, but not the same colors that you described. Looking forward to it! I don't have that color... but here's a '71 'toon
  21. Mine is an '04 W8 4Motion 6 speed stick. When this ankle heals in a few weeks I'm hittin' the road!
  22. I believe that silicone is the culprit. Some wax has it. IIRC, Novus products don't.
  23. Definitely want to avoid acid core solder! I found out the hard way...
