  1. Metal axle tip- if you want the car to sit with all 4 tires on the ground guaranteed, give one axle "oval" holes to go through, like a paper clip shape (but not that drastic) that allows one axle to move up & down just a tad.
  2. I knew from the first photo this was a quality build. Really. Paint is right... BMF is good... once I seen that, odds are everything else will be just as good. The rest of the pics prove it true!
  3. There is several VW van builds now finished or in the pipeline here on the board. So I thought I would show this replica of my nephew's first set of wheels. I gave it to him one Christmas. I don't recall too much, but I did scratch build the wheelcovers. Maybe the mirrors too. Sorry for the lousy pics.
  4. Hi This is BMF...
  5. Bravo! That... is amazing! That is over the top! What caught my eye... the window frames. How did you make those? They look so much better than the usual square-corner aluminum frame vintage style we usually see. The entire build is so clean. Quite believable!
  6. Now that's a good looking IMSA racer!
  7. If you want a REAL snowthrower... Get a 454 ci snowthrower!
  8. Thank you all for the kind words. The worse part of my day is transitioning in and out of the wheelchair. Too bad my bladder doesn't have an "off" switch! You know who REALLY deserves some recognition? The men and women who volunteer to man our rescue squads and ambulances! The work their tails off, take constant risks, and put the patient first! They ROCK! I had to be carried, strapped to a chair, out a side door, and hauled through unshoveled snow to reach the stretcher, then to the wagon. One EMT slipped on the ice, and we all crashed down. He was concerned for me, while I was concerned for him! In the wagon, they wanted to install an IV link in my arm, which they did successfully, while the wagon was moving, and on the first try. The hospital staff has never been able to do that to me in the past, and they had a still floor! (at least I think the place wasn't moving)
  9. Maybe go with a late model vehicle backlight? Maybe a '58 Chevy rear window with the sides ground away?
  10. No snow forcast here in northern New England, a good thing since it is probably impossible to use my snowblower with a broken ankle.
  11. Mike, that's gonna be a nice fish! I have the Sox & Martin version I want to build someday. I also like your whitewalls. I have seen far too many home made ww's done wrong, with the stripe closer to the outside diameter, when it should be closer to the ID as yours is. We need a "thumb's up!" icon here!
  12. Krylon (at least the current stuff) sprays like a fire hose. I would suggest decanting it into an airbrush. Model Master enamels... the industry standard. If you want it to dry faster, get a dehydrator, and it will be dry overnight. Lacquers... now the preferred paint. Again, Model Master makes a good lacquer, as does Tamiya. If you choose a metallic color, top it with clear. Also real automotive type sprays can work such as DupliColor, and PlastiKote. I have listened to new builders yak about jumping right into airbrush use. Don't do that. You know the old saying... you need to walk before you can run.
  13. Wow. It's like reading the last two pages of a novel.
  14. Does this count as a scale answer? Sorry, I just couldn't resist! I'm blaming the pain meds... that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
  15. Here is a closeup of SubLime on a late model Charger... has a metallic pearl look
  16. I'm not having any luck finding that info, but I did find there is a SSR enthusiast web site. Perhaps they could answer. My Google search turned up interesting news.. "The 2010 2011 Chevy SSR comes equipped with a more powerful engine and an optional six-speed manual transmission, the 2010 2011 Chevy SSR comes packed..." Interesting, because production ended after the 2006 model run!
  17. For those of us not into Ferrari model ID... here is the 458 Italia:

    VW Pickup

Eero, nice job on the BugBed! Here is some 1:1 bug pickups in various forms: I probably have more... but I don't know what the photo limit is here. That build of yours is so smirk! I want to add it to my "Models-Misc" file!
  19. Ja! Dieses Auto ist real
  20. The Porsche 917K is such an iconic race car, and you did it good!
  21. Cranky! That's the perfect road-rage machine!
  22. Thanks everyone. Oh to be young again! Moving from a chair to the crutches (or just getting out of the chair) is somethig I took for granted... not anymore. My father-in-law says he can get me a wheelchair tomorrow. Other friends who live about 30 miles away are going to get my car and drive it here. Good friends!
  23. Last night around 10:30 I was going down a flight of stairs at my friends house, I missed the two bottom steps and took a hell of a fall. Both legs folded up under me as I landed. I went to the hospital via ambulance. X-ray confirms right ankle is indeed broken. Left foot nothing on x-rays, I think it was hyper-extended. Nothing they can do for foot. Right ankle has a splint. I am on crutches, BIG problem as I don't have the coordination to use them. I need a wheelchair. It's not a question of if I fall down again, it a q of when. They told me to see an orthopedic doctor Monday. I will be out of work for a while. I hope my model survived! It was in it's box, not yet finished. It, and my car are still at my friends house.
