  1. Want to do a head-scratcher on someone? Next time you get a newspaper in Chinese or Japanese, cut out sections of text, and staple them together like a letter. Send it to someone you know without a return address. Take it from me, it will keep them wondering.
  2. Is that... THE Matchbox? Maker of itty-bitty cars I used to collect from across the pond?
  3. Is this like the ol' "We lost our lease"? "The last time, we found it under the TV" I am glad they are staying in business. Also think that is one heck of a PR move!
  4. That is awesome stuff, Lyle. Did you brush or spray the wheels? I think leaving some chrome really makes the deal!
  5. Way nice build, Scott. It's not often a build gets a second chance!
  6. Rob, this is great! I also missed this the first time around. Love the creativity!
  7. I would be interested to know more about that (but not interested enough to research it! ) After... how many years now of Prius production(?), if that is an issue, it should be a known issue, I would think.
  8. Fotki is not resizing the photos, afaik. Only the view size is being altered. Although I don't understand why you are concerned about the "original". The photo is uploaded to a photo host site. The subscriber can control what size appears.
  9. To change photo size, click "Go to" Then scroll down to "My account", and click it. On the right side of the page that appears, note your current photo size. Click "Change" @ right. Find "Photo view size". Click arrow box to the right. A list of choices will appear (not shown). I suggest 800 x 800. This will make your pics appear on the larger size, but not so big that you cannot see from one edge to the other. For those with smaller monitors or notebooks, this could be a real advantage.
  10. World wide, coal is still in use to produce electricity, though not exclusivly. And "Clean" coal is just a PR lie from their lobby. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fossil-fuel_power_station
  11. Anyone notice the movie car, the middle portion of the grille looks like it was sprayed silver, rather than chrome plate? Hah! Movie props!
  12. Yeah, I won't use The Detailer to black out grilles anymore, too much blue hue. Use flat black acrylic such as Tamiya bottle paint, and wipe off the raised parts. If you do that with enamel bottle paint, the chemical effect will, after a few wipes, take the chrome plate off. Been there, done that.
  13. I'm guessing... because the filthy rich also want to pretend they're "going green"? Let's build more soot-spewing electric plants, to keep all those environmentally friendly electric cars running!
  14. The Sharpie is better than nothing, but the color is more aluminum than chrome. I wonder if we treated it like Alclad, and preceded it with a black Sharpie, if that would make a diff? Hmmm? I will have to try that.
  15. I have used the black "Detailer" product, and I notice two probs w/ it... First, it seems to dry with a blue tint, and second, it will peel right off when dry. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or does this only happen in my alternate universe? EDIT: oh, btw, I like that "soaked" wheel!
  16. Or how about a rear window? Well, how many windows could you cut out of this clear acrylic bowl? I know it won’t work for every application, but for 60’s and on up, it may be worth a consideration. I bought it for a few bucks at an I-Party. So put that cutoff wheel in your moto tool, and give it a shot!
  17. Wow! You made me hunt for this one!
  18. Beautiful! Porky would be jealous!
  19. Get the 40% off coupon for Michaels to get a great deal on one. I suggest a size that fills your work area.
  20. Scott, you know I like those! Good job!
  21. Man, that is so nice! Chopped top and all, in such a short amount of time.
  22. Exactly! Real cars have hand cranks! Real cars require multiple steps to get up into! Real cars have squeeze bulb horns! Baw... who needs all these newfangled things like heaters and solid glass all around! Next thing you know, they'll complain about the brass lanterns out front!
  23. Scott, you can build some nice GT1 and prototypes!
  24. If something in car design hasn't died after 40 years, maybe is not going to. I don't see any "dying" in modern car design. I do see, however, a few people who refuse to accept anything designed in modern times. So maybe its not the design trend that has an issue. Just sayin...
