Let's Reveal Our Worst Build's
Jon Cole replied to modelmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeez, I found another one! (did I say that with pride? ) It's a Honda City, iirc. Not so much the build, but those gawd awful homemade graphics. Printed them on our first printer waaay back when. Now I joke that it must have been set on about 4 DPI. They look like they are growing fuzz! -
STUNNING! Great build! Great color! Great car!

We do seem to have a lot of builders from the southwest corner of the US! Lots of Arizona. Beautiful country, hope to visit someday... as soon as the missus buys the correct lottery ticket!

Let's Reveal Our Worst Build's
Jon Cole replied to modelmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been thinking about this one, something w/ pictures. All my stuff from my youth is long gone. Then I remembered the resin "Miller" cars. I believe that is the name of the man that cast these, from old Banthrico promos I believe. These are as crude as they come, includes a body, a slab for a chassis, four wheel / tires, and two metal axles.\ No interior. Windows weren't even smooth, so I cut out thin gray plastic inserts. This was in the late 80's, iirc. Same source for this Tucker. After paint & BMF, the foil started to bubble up. No paint issues, just foil! -

" "Nissan" sounds like a little girl sneezing." -
Nice! Hope mine comes out that nice. Better still, I hope I actually finish mine.

That's going to look awesome!

Thanks, Neil! I recognize several builds, some just by their style! Nice stuff indeed.

Tom, crappy situation, but you do have a good attitude about it. Hope it all works out for you somehow. Maybe new(er) RV in your future?

OK, like Foxer says, we've done this thread before, but what the heck, lets share anyhow. My current ride for the past 3 years or so, 2004 Passat W8 The wife has her Scooby: And the "company van"

No photos from Masscar? I find nothing in "Contests & Shows". Hope someone has photos to share.

I'm a car guy. I used to carry a pic of either one of my model cars, and / or my 1:1 car in my wallet. Not my wife. True story. So my earlier post was just expressing my amusement that some have no pic of their ride. No intent to be rude, or to point out any one person. Sometimes, we just need to laugh at ourselves! Altho, my wife wasn't laughing when she found out the one photo in my wallet... wasn't her! So tomorrow, as I referred to before, go to your nearest local inconvienance store, and buy some film for your digital camera, and fer Gawds sake, click some pics! Both real car, and scale ones too!

Post WW II
Jon Cole replied to Hoosierfarmboy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
It's still there on my Fotki! Do you have the free version? I go w/ Premium (paid) account. Worth having either that or Photobucket. Think of all the things it can be used for besides models. What's one common thing people who survive disaster miss the most? Their irreplaceable photos. If they are scanned and loaded in a photo host program, they are safe from tornado, fire, etc. -
Really? No pics? Why? Can't find film for the digital camera?

The VEGA & PINTO Celebration Thread
Jon Cole replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I had a seventy-something Vega Notchback, similar to this one. It never rusted, because it was painted brown I tried to do some four wheelin' in it, stuffed the manual trans case into a rock. Drove it home in 2nd gear. On second thought, it did rust. The rear shocks came up through the trunk. At least one repair place refused to fix it. -
By far the best '48 FeRD I have seen! Great color!

'29 Ford pickup "Deep purple"

That is one awesome roadster pickup! It has "The Look"! -
Choose the right type of clear plastic? I made a clear roof insert cut from a plastic OJ bottle. First, on two rounded corners there was a slight delamination effect, very small, but still not right. Also, when I tried to use NOVUS 3 to clean up minor scratches, it made it worse. I switched to a 3-part polishing stick, starting w/ middle grit, again, made it worse. The juice bottle plastic is more flexible than model kit clear windows. Any ideas?
