  1. This is some amazing stuff! Great scratch-building. Thanks for sharing!
  2. Yes, clear. I bet if you warm the can, and don't spray too fast, you will get a nice flow out and gloss. Oh, and a tack rag... just before you are ready to spray the first coat. Takes away those dust specks!
  3. Waaay back, when I would watch Na$car, they would interview one of the Burton bros, I believe it was Ward. Yes, I believe I can picture him pronouncing "Burick."
  4. When you feel your back hit the wall... that's it. You can't get pushed back any further. It's a sad and unfair turn of events you have experienced. A bad set of circumstances. Now fate, or lady luck... they can only push so far. Now you get to rebound. And you will. Winter can be cruel like this (I like to blame winter!) It's got to get better. Don't throw it in. It will get better. Good luck to you.
  5. Mineral Spirits... the original debonder!
  6. Embossing powder, purchased from Michaels.
  7. Welcome. Go to "Edit Profile". On your current profile, you have just a silhouette for your avatar pic. It should say "Change" somewhere in the avatar. Click that. (Gawd, I hope I got this right!) Now just copy that photo url from your -online photo album- such as Photobucket or Fotki. Paste it in the new avatar box. Ask if you have any probs. And don't be shy, everyone was new at this at one time. Good luck.
  8. Darin, Though I posted my sympathy on your Facebook, I just wanted to again express my sorrow for your loss. Though not sudden, it must still be one of the most difficult events in your life. Hope you find comfort in your family and friends as you move through this experience. Peace.
  9. Shame that someone couldn't / didn't buy the business and take over.
  10. "Yankified". I speak that!
  11. Would be interested to know, since you brought it up, are you, or are you not going to report this to the police? I believe in being 100% pro-active. You get ripped off... you report it. That reaction should come automatic. I would help you with a few kits, but only if you are willing to help yourself. Don't just take it... do something about it.
  12. Wow. Will there be a test?
  13. Images I found: Maryland State Police built by Tom Sheehy- CHEVY 1985 Impala 'MASS STATE POLICE' by John Sharisky
  14. My bro-in-law is a Porsche snob. He believes the 944S was hand built by God, just for him. Insists that it should be pronounced "Poor-shuh". So naturally everyone in the family responds "Porsche! That's what I said!" He is technically correct, but the fact that he makes such a production of it, and a matter of high importance, we just can't help having a little fun with it! EDIT: I changed it from 924S to the 944S, which it is. My bad.
  15. I always pronounced it "Ta-my-ah". Now it seems that may be incorrect. Yet, I have been pronouncing it that way for many years, and I don't think I can change. Old habits, ya know. No disrespect meant... and I promise to change should Mr. Tamiya stop by to visit me.
  16. These next two photos... iirc I found them just a few months ago, probably on Jalopnik: Labeled as a Tucker Sno Cat for sale somewhere in NJ:
  17. I don't know if this link has been posted or not, it has more info on the Tucker Sno Cat http://www.gwim2.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/743cstat.htm
  18. Many contests & shows, each with its own criteria. It seems like there is no one absolute. I wonder if our hobby had some type of organization, with one set of standards, would anyone follow them? Would that even be possible? Is the 'Point System' the answer? This is a great topic, and shows that, if nothing else, how difficult it is to nail down one set of standards.
  19. As for clear parts, some ideas: Instead of a white glue, such as the typical Elmers brand, find something labeled as Tacky Glue, or Craft Glue. Once you try that, you could move on to 2-part epoxy. The beauty of epoxy is, should any excess squeeze out, wait about 5+ minutes for it to firm up, but not cure. Then just gently slice away with a #11 blade, or use a wooden toothpick to peel away. It can be removed usually without any damage to the clear window.
  20. Six of one, half dozen of the other. I guess... model.
  21. It is one of my favorite parts of the magazine! Please keep up all the creativity!
  22. Anthony, where... did you get that idea from? Perhaps you should actually look in my Fotki albums. I have no restrictions, I photograph whatever catches my eye. I take pics of whatever I want. Also, the Nascar comment... I used to build Nascar, as well as photograph them. Funny how people "know" me, and while my memory isn't what it used to be, I have no recollection of meeting or communicating with you.
