I simulated a flat tire (a long time ago) by placing a piece of tin foil in a frying pan, and press straight down. Try it on a scrap tire first. Can't remember if I used a non-stick spray on the foil.

More Hudsons from Model King and Moebius!
Jon Cole replied to Jon Cole's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
If Model King / Moebius is doing this many diff variations on the Hudson, I can anticipate about that many '55 300's! -
Looks great! Ah, the '49 Merc... I remember that! From before the Hornet kit existed!

Two, to be precise! First one you may have read Dave Van's announcement, but if not, here it is again: Coming soon from the great folks at Model King and Moebius Models is another great stock car legend racer!! We are finalizing the decals and boxart for the Marshall Teague 1953 Hudson Hornet. Due later this year, as soon as we have a firm ETA we will post the info. The painting for this box was done by noted automotive artist Dan McCrary. The decal art and box graphics were done by myself. I will post decals and built prototype model as soon as they are complete. PS....stay tuned.....we have more news soon!!! Now if that isn't enough, I just found this on another site: If you missed your chance to get a Tim Flock Hudson you will be getting a second chance at the stock car kit. The next Model King / Moebius kit will be the 1952 Marshall Teague Hudson stock car. Here's a peak at the new box art I've created. This kit will be available in 2 different versions. Dave Van has created decals for both the #6 and #1 cars. This one will have decals for the #6 gray car. The 1953 #1 black and white car will be available as a separate kit with different box art done by another artist. These are the best of times for model builders!

Moto tool w/ a grind head. Whirrrr! Done. Oh, be sure to wear a dust mask! You don't want to breath that stuff. -
That is a great thing you did there, Mike!

you know what i love more than the 55 300C
Jon Cole replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I still am amazed that the upcoming convertible issue of the Hudson does not (apparently) have wire wheels! It looks like I will need to shell out another $30. for the Chrysler just to set my Hornet w/ wires. A little more thought to different wheels in follow-up reissues by Mobius would be nice. Hope they give it some consideration! Because these kits are a home run! -

Facebook affects
Jon Cole replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Facebook can be tripe or treasure, just like real life. It's all what you make of it. I know of many who don't care for it, and quite honestly, I think they decided they wouldn't like it before they even tried it. Just like, for example, some people don't like any modern car design. Therefore, they already dislike the cars... that have yet to be created. I know a lady who tried to use FB, but she "Doesn't get it". I don't get that.... what's to get? Most women seem to like to post the "inspirational" message stuff. Doesn't do much for me. Guys just like to joke around, and sling some sarcasm. Works for me! The one thing that bugs me about FB is the ones who think it's a contest to see how many posts they can make per day. I know of someone who must be posting 50 or more times a day, if not more. That goes beyond socializing... right into obsession! -

need info on "z"ing a frame
Jon Cole replied to route66modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Edit: Header to frame clearance looks difficult in these pics. I have also seen the front Z cut just behind the front axle, but in front of the engine, more clearance for exhaust. Why couldn't I post this to my post? Grrrr! -
need info on "z"ing a frame
Jon Cole replied to route66modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have tried it (still waiting to complete it) I saved some pics of Z'd frames from others, for inspiration. Hope they don't mind. '32 frame by Dave Fletcher '81 Bronco by Jared Roach Builder unknown. Try using the boards 'search' feature for frame Z'ing. -
And I bet the G Man who dreamed that up has been either re-elected, or promoted!

The "California Kid"

While not an exact replica, Revell did offer this pre-paint '34. Great way to keep busy while the broken bones heal. Firsthand knowledge of that one. -
Jason, you did that Stratos nice! That color makes me think Mopar!
