The paint has been air drying for 48 hrs now and I just stuck it in the Dehydrator at 122° for 1 1/2 hrs. It should be plenty dry after that. I got some of the detail work finished such as headlights and turn signals, dash, radiator hose, etc. I'm trying to decide if a I want to wet sand the body or just give it a good waxing. -
That looks pretty kewl.

Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
Zippi replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks fellows. Oh, I would never put anything of mine in at that high of a temperature. I always set mine around 105° to 115°. I was just curious as to why Plash Paints would put that on the website. -
Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers

I've got a question fellows. I use the 2K Urethane Clear from Splash Paints. I always let it dry for 3 days before handling it. Their website says to let it set for 72 hrs or put in a Dehydrator for 1 hr at 140 degrees. I would think that high of heat would start to warp the plastic. Anyone use this high of a setting? -
Pretty sharp looking Dragster.

The temp this morning was 84° with 55% humidity so I shot the Splash Paints 2K Urethane Clear on this morning. I shot my test spoon first just to make sure there was no issues with the Tamiya TS-14 Black and the Splash Paints 2K clear. I really like this clear as it helps to hide minor issues. I'll let this set for 3 days then wet sand and polish it. The worst part is over so I think I'm out of the woods. Boy oh boy this has been a rough one to paint. -

Thank's for chiming in Mozzi. Acually I've been using off the shelf lacquer thinner to thin the Tamiya paints for some time now and it works nicely for me. I had contacted Tamiya some time back and ask about the dry time for their X-22 clear and why it took so long to dry. I was told by Tamiya that their team suggested off the shelf lacquer thinner. Sounds kinda strange but true. I like using the XF Military colors with clear over it as it gives a more true look of how cars looked back in the day. At any rate, I think I have the problem under control and punching forward. Thanks dude. -
