  1. Thanks Spike. I decanted the Maroon one time and it didn't lay down very well for me. I may revisit the decanting down the road.
  2. Thanks. Yeah, I worked a little overtime on this one.
  3. Thanks DJ. I'm a happy camper.
  4. Well fellows, I dug deep in that top hat and found another rabbit Miracles do happen I guess. It paid off this time to give it one more shot. I'm not even sure why I bought that can of Tamiya black paint at the hobby shop last week. I guess it was meant for this paint job. I've never had black come out this good before.
  5. I hear ya man and thanks for all the info. I think I got it figured out.
  6. I went out in the garage this morning and started boxing everything up on the 55 and stopped for a second. I was thinking I have a new can of the Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black so.....the hood is the easiest part to paint so I wet sanded it down with 600, 1000, 4000, and 12000. This time no primer and three coat of the TS-14. The spoons in the pic are from yesterday when I airbrushed the Tamiya X-1 Gloss black. The spoons turned out fine vs the body. This one has me confused.
  7. It sure is frustrating. Not really sure what's going on. I always use off the self lacquer thinner and never had any issues. I thin it 50/50. Distance from the model is fine. It's a head scratcher. This was all Tamiya products Carl.
  8. Thank's Spike. Never had this happen before.
  9. Both builds look really sharp there Terry.
  10. Beautiful looking build. Love the interior and top color. Mighty fine build Tom.
  11. I'm really diggin this custom 50 Buick wagon Glen. Really nice work.
  12. Nice looking Super Bee Ken. Those red line tires really pop against the yellow.
  13. Pretty slick looking ride there Claude. Looks Super nice.
  14. This is looking really sharp Jeremy. It's going to be a looker.
  15. I'm throwing in the towel on this one fellows. It got the best of me. I got the same results as the first time. It was a new can of primer, totally different paint, perfect painting conditions and the exact same results. The body in primer looked as good as it gets. Here are the pics of the spoon test. I'm out of things to try so this one is history. Lot of time and money wasted on this one.
  16. Thanks Carl. I'll be shooting a couple test spoons in black as well. I'll hit the test spoon with the 2K clear. If it doesn't work out I'll use the Tamiya X-22 clear.
  17. Now I'm just really diggin this build Chuck. Great looking 55 Chevy 4X4 and nice weathering job on the body. Looks like a nice little daily driver.
  18. Pretty kewl looking Chad. Love these pulling trucks. Nice job man.
  19. Looks pretty nice there Keith. The black has a nice look to it on the ole 33 Caddy Town car. Man those were BIG cars back in the day.
  20. That engine is looking mighty slick and I'm diggin the flames. I'm liking the color choice on the wheels. Coming along nicely.
  21. Welcome back to the MCM forum Robert. Very nice looking builds.
  22. I'm diggin the 40 Ford Gasser. That body color is some eye candy for sure. Nice job.
  23. Finally got around to working on this one. I got the engine pretty much done and all that is left is a little detail work. I had to change the air cleaner to a smaller diameter so I could get the water hose on. The front suspension has been installed and the chassis paint a semi gloss black.
  24. They both look pretty kewl Greg but I think I prefer the second pic.
  25. You sure don't see something like this to often. Very nice build Claude.
