  3. Thanks Bob. It's not possible for me to spray so I have developed ways to brush paint which require extra steps to get a good finish. The picture does not show it but there are very fine brush marks which I will eliminate with a bit of 4000 or 6000 sanding perpendicular to the brush stroke direction, followed by Tamiya fine and finish rubs.

  5. That detailing is beautiful Bob, Do you make your own oil line fittings? They look very good.
  6. Thanks guys. I cleared the body this morning. 2 coats Tamiya acrylic brushed on with one hour gap. This body is a bit complicated for brush painting so I added more thinner and retarder to give me a few extra seconds to lay the paint to all surfaces. In the end it smoothed out good and polishing requirements will be minimal. Next steps are to do the polishing, black detailing and washes for the meshing, decals and a coat of Future.
  7. I knew about the wheelbase thing on the R5 but it's so easy to forget. Good idea to build chassis and dry fit to body before setting on cutting fenders and adding the flares.

  9. Thanks Jim. Your's with end of race weathering is superb. I don't have the skills to do that well enough. I love the GT1 but I find modern race cars (post 1990...) liveries to be so elaborate that you lose the car a bit so I decided to go to the classic Pennzoil livery. A good match to the GT1 lines I think.
  10. Wonderful project Gary. Folowing this one with great interest. The J car and GT40 mkIV are holy grail race cars for me. Short of having yet these to build it is a delight to see you show the way.
  11. Wonderful John. You upgraded the exhaust pipes beautifully and they belong on that glorious V12. The picture of you holding the engine makes me realize how big 1/12 is (I've only done 1/24) so the detailing is not a nice to do but a must do.
  12. Completed the basic interior and added very little: a shifter and dressing up the gauges. Also prepped and painted (primer & color coat) the body. Clear tomorrow. getting close.

  22. Agree, Gary's 275P looks really good, definitely something to shoot for. I don't totally get what you are planning for the greenhouse so it will be fun to follow and learn from.
  23. All the carbon fiber is done with decals? Don't think I could handle that. Thumbs up!
  24. Thanks Gary. At least the Gunze is molded in white. Other options may be Heller or Revell but I think they are both molded in dark green...
