Greenberg and me BOTH! re curbside: I. DON'T. CARE! A 2002 to N360/Jimny standards is almost everything I could have wished for. Dumb, Revell AG. Reaaaaalllly dumb. Y'allz can REDEEM yourselves with a 3.0CSL, though, if you get off your thumbs pronto.

Yup. Side scoops: YAAAAAYYY! Road Wheel/Magnums: Not so bad if the street car comes with a wedge I guess. Hemi with Rallyes would have been a nice variation. Maybe swaps with the 'Cuda...

Kit Review Pagani Huayra From Aoshima
Chuck Kourouklis replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yeah, Aoshima's been on a good rip of late - but this sucker's just OUT THERE, even by those heightened standards. Over 260 parts before you start factoring in the detail-up goodies. Watching with great interest, Jonathan... -
1960 Ford Starliner Pre Order
Chuck Kourouklis replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
As has been pointed out several times, the '60 Starliner was a new-tool kit released in 2000. Originally there were separate stock and street machine versions, and the latest boxing, like the one from 2008, uses retro-style graphics and includes both versions in one box. There were indeed two engines tooled separately in their entirety, though both were FEs - think the hot version might originally have been described by AMT as a 406. Though the '61 Styline kit, the '63 or '64 Galaxies and the '64 Marauder are promo-based kits dating back to the '60s and have nothing to do with this Starliner in terms of tooling and design, AMT did time the re-release of a few of those kits right around the release of the new '60 so more enterprising modelers could enhance the older kits with newer one's drivetrain and undercarriage. -
Wow. Had no idea, what with the reissues and such coming out. Oh well. 21 gets cooler the more I look it over...

Accurate Miniatures NASCAR Taurus test shot.
Chuck Kourouklis replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yup, youbetcha. Allowed myself to forget all that steaming scat for a minute. Still 'n all, I'd be happy to shell out a bit over current retail, cover Ford's (and NASCAR's) basic fees for a few baggies and then go and find some liveries on my own... -
Accurate Miniatures NASCAR Taurus test shot.

Wonder where the tooling is, and what would be lost just running some plastic through it now if it's in a decent state. I'd happily snatch up a few of these for curiosity's sake. -
Kool. If only they (or Heller, maybe) could be sweet-talked into an SM...

Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?

Snagged two out of the gate. Think I'll get one or two more once they're re-released out of sheer pity. That's some rotten luck. -

WHAT BUGS YOU

Comes to chrome mold lines, one major bit of kudos I must deal Revell/Monogram: From the Black Widow forward, they've managed to mold a '57 Chevrolet front bumper/fascia in a way that not only looks more accurate than nearly any previous attempt, but also hides the mold seams on the rear edges for a totally clean wrap from front to side. No kiddin', don't think there's been near enough said about this accomplishment. -
Just about to SAY - bully if the Audi kit comes with some guts too!

Revell 1966-'77 Ford Bronco
Chuck Kourouklis replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Anybody 'member when it was AMT doing EVERYTHING in a scale 15" diameter, and it was Revell/Monogram ya looked to for a decent tire profile? And now we gotta use those same AMT wheels for a correction reference. *siiiiiigh* -
Corvette C7R - Revell new tool
Chuck Kourouklis replied to Phildaupho's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Until people can deal with others pointing out problems without dredging up dead horse memes that are in themselves perfect examples of dead horses, keyser in fact has it exactly right. The problems don't start with people pointing out inaccuracies on stuff with an inherent mandate to be accurate. The problems - personal attacks - have always started with those who can't handle those inaccuracies being pointed out. There would be no "lemming" talk getting thrown around without YEARS of "rivet counter" slams before it. That is a cold, granite-hard FACT, whether it squares with anyone's politics or not. -
Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?
Chuck Kourouklis replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It just figures that it would happen to THESE kits, some of Revell's very nicest recently, and not to a kit that could actually stand to have its body mold trashed and re-done... . . *cough* MUSTNOTBENAMED *cough cough* -
Revell 1971/73 Ford Bronco
Chuck Kourouklis replied to fomocomav's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Can't put eyes on the parts right now, but there are two different parts numbers for the hubcaps: and if I read the instructions right, 120 goes om the front wheels, 109 on the rears. -

One thing I mentioned in the other thread is that the plastic at the rockers is reasonably thin. You'll have some brackets to trim in the floor pan: but you might be able to use some heat to bend the lower body. If you have a bench-mounted vise, that might help. One tool I'm imagining is something like a dowel with a slot cut lengthwise to grip the lower rocker edge flat as you bend more of an angle into it from the rest of the body. -
Revell 1966-'77 Ford Bronco
Chuck Kourouklis replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Well danm. The Ford GT and the C7 'Vettes gave reason to believe Revell was finally fixing their approach to wheels. As it's also been observed, that otherwise nice grille is pretty dead flat instead of mildly convex as the 1:1, and the pics above make me think Revell managed to slab-side the body just a bit (quite an accomplishment with a Bronco), particularly at the rocker level. Just a tiny bit, maybe. The difference this time is, the plastic in both those areas is thin enough to give you some hope of correcting that if you're careful. -

Revell 1966-'77 Ford Bronco
Chuck Kourouklis replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yup, Mike, plastic is definitely thinner there - though the two-stage detents seem to indicate smaller and larger rectangular patterns, for whatever that might mean. You're welcome too, Case - the tires follow current Revell practice and they don't mandate any wonky orientation in the treads in their fit. Wheels fit from either side. -

Ah, shoot, guys - there's a post missing here, in case anybody was wondering where the chrome is. Was trying to work from a tablet, wiped out what looked like a duplicate post, and that must have been the one. Will try to correct later... -
