  1. Any Mercury sleeper kits from the 50-s-70's made by an aftermarket resin caster in 1/25th scale? The Bigger & slightly taller boxes than the AMT one
  2. Very intresting to get leads from "insiders" of the hobby, Gives us a much clearer view over the "shady" existence of JoHan. Since the mid 90's, so many "rumours" have been floating around. ......Is the Johan Bldg on Moran St. still standing?...........remember the bldg was located in a rough Detroit neighberhood! .............Should I build my '60 Desoto kit
  3. A few months ago started seeing a "beauty" on the highways...looked really sharp, from afar tought was a "West Coast Kustomized job", but to my suprise it was the new International LoneStar . It's "Kustom" looks is absolutely great, designers at International got out of the typical "commercial fleet truck look" big time & surely must have been inspired by the "Kustom" trend seen so regularly on Pete's & KW's, surely one of the most daring & very well executed truck design in years, gets my attention every time i see one....can't miss that front grill...one of a kind looks like a "show" truck rolling down the higway. .... Any Hope we will see a scale model of the new LoneStar in 1 /24/25 or 1/35 Snaper form
  4. Revell's late 80's '69 CJ,( build the kit back in 1989-90, really nice & accurate, factory stock & SS option parts & decals where included)... miles ahead of the ex MPC annual kit
  5. - BB 512 - Miura SV - Duesy SJ's - 1970-74 Challengers......new one also look great! - 1971-73 Rivy's ........................ZIL 111's
  6. Really nice work. I remember building the same kit back in 1979,as well as the factory Martini 935, was really desapointed by the lack of detail & simplification of the kits; basic engine, cockpit, suspension, brakes, toy like BBS mags, "2 faces" tyres, but then again a few of these 1/20 th kits where aimed at the younger modeler crowd for fast build, & of course the typical "motorized" "play toy" option parts so common in Japan back in the days, really ,really nice detail work on this Kremer Team beast...Always tought that the Kremer Team Porsches where the beeter looking ones at Lemans or other Road Races. .......Can't beat Tamiya's 1/12 th scale 935...still the best plastic kit of a 935 ever made, after nearly 30+ years. Nice early kits in this 1/20th scale serie are the Ferrari 312T3 1978, Tyrrell 6 wheeler, Renault RE20, Ligier Gitane, and the not so bad Porsche 928. The Lauda's 1975 312 T world champ, was another great kit from tamiya in theyr 1/12 scale series, back in the 70's, but the kit has a few low points: decals where a bit "translucide", no belts hardware & no rivet head details on fuel cells. still a very nice kit after 30+ years.....now with many photoetched parts included in box. Italian: Protar also made the same car in 1/12Th scale, the kit is nice, but a few aligment problems when assembling, did prefer the Tamiya kit, the mold are now owned by Revell AG (Germany). In recent years Tamiya did slow down on F1 kits, looks like Hasegawa is slowly taking over, those Hasegawa & Fujimi kits are excellent: Villeneuve's 126C2
  7. Thanks to everyone.... Been dechroming parts for years with EOFF, bleach, DOT3, etc, never noticed that clear coat, same thing when I dechrome older kits plated parts; no under clear coat on parts...goes straight to plastic, no matter what is used.
  8. Dechromed many AMT chrome plated parts & noted that all chrome is gone BUT a shinny clear coat still on parts....... Any product that will dechrome to the bare plastic
  9. The original kit of the 1/16th scale Cobra 427 was made by MPC back in 1981: molded in blue &black, as pictured by eldestructo, really nice kit in MPC's collection of excellent 1/16 big scale kits. The kit was also reboxed by Airfix & Esci for europe markets. Was last reissued by ERTL back in the 90's. As mention you can find one for sale often, on eBay, for a reasonable price. Nice kit of a legend, but always tought that the 4 tires where a bit too wide
  10. Thanks for website: never saw any of Amt's promotion cartoons..........of course the "K"at...........such a long time ago!
  11. ....Noticed on the lately reissued "Hippie Hemi" decal sheet, a nice touch...... a "CAT" holding a scale modelcar .......if not mistaking this "cartoon" represents AMT's legendary Bud "the cat" Anderson?
  12. British Merite kits those?....Really nice, beautiful work. Wonder who has these molds now: Humbrol/Airfix, Revell AG
  13. in 1/24th scale, Heller originally made 2 tractor & 2 trailer kits in the 70's early 80's: -70's Scania LB 141 (was reboxed a few times since it's intoduction, nearly 30+ years ago. -Renault G230 Daycab COE. -Canvas tri-axle trailer (euro style) -Fridg Tri axle trailer. (eure style) Other more recent issues are reboxed Italeri kits & 70's reboxed (very nice) Amt's 1/43 Pete 359 & KW 123 trailer combos. Made the Scania LB 141 COE, the kit was released in the late 70's, very nicely detailed & accurate, needs a bit of patience when assembling the fitting of parts is not always perfect, but a really nice piece when finished, trailer kits are also very nice & accurate.
  14. Was wondering if any MCM forum member, could give us a review of what's in the box of the early 80's Ex Testors/Lindberg Pete 359 Kit, saw that "rare" kit once or twice back in the early 80's in testors box in local hobby shop....or pop up on ebay. -Curbside kit; no engine/basic frame details/one piece body? (a la Monogram 1/32 tractor series)? -1/20 Scale? -Accurate (seems nice on Lindberg web pic) -Decals?
  15. As mention the original 1970 "Snake" Cuda FC was made by Monogram back in 1970, the kit was not bad at all back then, Hot Wheel was the main sponsor of the Snake & owner of ...Monogram: so came the hot wheels toys versions & the 1/24th scale Monogram plastic kit, the kit was quite a succes in the growing early 70s Funny car kit craze. Tought the kit was neet, the body was really nicely replcated. Low points: front tires/wheels are a bite to wide, a bit "Huge" rear slicks are M&H:( GY on real one), Hemi engine block is a bit "narrow", but overall a very nice kit that we don't see often reissued. 3 times only since 1970: Snake/ White Shark, & combo in the 90S
  16. Wow! never seen those 956's kits: - Resin? -Made by who? -R/C or curbside promo type kit? -approx how many parts in the kit you have? ....Impresive
  17. One of Tom Daniels most famous Monogram showrod design: the Rommel s Rod (1969) has been out of production since the early 70s, most of TDs showrod kits have been reissued a few times in the 80s-90s-00s, but the RR completly vanished.....will we ever see it back on the shelves in near future; (I.E. new name/ redesign decal sheet) is it to risky for Revell to take a chance even if the original name & decal sheet could be changed. In our Politically correct era; is the RR still marketable or its contreversial inspiration will doom this kit forever
  18. Does the spoke wheels "scale" radius in the L700 kit more 22" than 20"? Ex IMC GY tires says 20", Amt's good' ol GY also are 20"s but the L700 spokes dont fit in amt's GY tires..........but get in perfectly in Amt's Uniroyal 22" Correct engine color seems to be red...this shade available in Duplicolor cans?
  19. Would painting a 426 HEMI for Dragster or F/C use back in the late 60's early 70's with factory stock HEMI engine Orange, would be a correct period color .......Seems like most of them where painted black. Thanks to all.
  20. Any MCM forum member could tell, what is the Kenworth "real" model number (I.E. W925, K123, etc) for the amt 70's Alaskan Hauler: Hill & Hill kit. Seen 2-3 pictures of this specific model on Hanks TP site, looks like a rare HD road model, was it made in big numbers, was all the options in amt's kit available from the factory : "Moose bar, headache rack, etc....never seen any promotion folder, pics or catalog, from Kenworth on this specific HD model.
  21. Really nice pieces ............les kits US sont-ils rare et couteux dans l'hexagone Vive la France
  22. Really nice..... As mention IMC was already promoting the 1970 L1000 tractor kit in their 1970 0r 1971 catalog.....never came.
  23. Thanks to all, unfortunatly STS drop it for now.
  24. Does any after market resin caster makes a sleeper section, fitting the upcoming AMT Ford C(600-800) kit like the one on Tim's web site, TY
