  1. I like that you went off-factory colour.? It looks pretty darned s*xy in the 4th photo. GM should reevaluate their colour choices. The engine looks pretty sweet - its a shame that much of it is hidden when installed.
  2. Nice build. White is a tough colour and your panel lines look spot on. The rear tail light assembly is great, too.
  3. Thanks Z! The inspiration came from an awesome '59 Impala I saw on the net. This thing had enormous rear tires. Photography... making silk purses out of sow's ears. ;^)
  4. Happy accidents (or inteptitude) are the best kind. I must have some kind of dark side as I've used the same colour scheme in the past. It just looks right to me some how. I stumbled upon the wide angle technique on a previous build. I think if there's enough side window space I will continue with it going forward. Thanks for the kind words. ??
  5. Thanks David. It was worth the extra effort on the interior as so much of it can be seen on this kit.
  6. Thanks Dood. Yeah, I guess the car has an early Batmobile vibe.
  7. Thanks beerRS! My ineptitude paid off this time. ? I was a little concerned with the wheels because Fireball's tires tend to be a little on the bloated side. I couldn't use them on a previous Corvette build.
  8. Thanks Tim. As of late I have not been putting as much effort into interior work as much of it ends up being hidden. However, there is plenty of open space to look through on this car that a little extra effort was warranted. :^)
  9. Thanks for the flowers Dan. I'm blushing. ?
  10. Thanks very much fellas, especially coming from builders like yourselves. ? I have to admit, I've gone to the well with this combination before. I'm thinking I might stay away from gloss black for a while as it's very unforgiving with blemishes, scratches and mistakes.
  11. Once again you’ve created an awesome build. Top notch photography as well. Your choice of colour is nicer than those offered by Chevrolet.
  12. Recently completed and photographed this Revell/Monogram kit. I struggled pretty hard with the paint and finish on this one, however, in the end it makes a decent 10-footer. Body colour is Tamiya LP-1 Black with Alclad Chrome trim. Interior is darkened Tamiya LP-21 Italian Red. The wheels are from a LHS parts bin - also painted Alclad Chrome. The tires are from Fireball Modelworks. Notes: Basic grinding/sanding of the rims, wheel backs and axel/spindles to fit the over-sized wheels. Also had to thin the outer bead on the rims to fit more flush with the tires. Sanded 2mm off the front tires to reduce their diameter. Because I removed so much rubber, I painted a tread pattern on the wheels by airbrushing flat black through a strip of screen. Should probably have used a finer grid. Thinned the fenders as the plastic is quite thick. Added valve stems to the rims. I'm not getting a bright chrome finish with Alclad - it looks more like black chrome. I did use their black base, which is quite glossy. Going to need more practice here. Last weekend before the kids are back to school. 8^)
  13. Super clean build. ? Wish that kit wasn’t so expensive.
  14. Nice paint and chrome trim! ?
  15. Beautiful looking car. ? What made it “a handful to build?”
  16. Might be cheaper to buy directly from the store rather than going the girlfriends/wives route. ;^) Isn’t nail polish kinda thick? Do you thin it with acetone or nail polish remover?
  17. Such a nice build. Body and interior look great!
  18. Liking what you did. ?
  19. Thanks for the info Rich. I've been meaning to give nail polish a try. Tell me, do you test the colours on your nails while in the store? ?
  20. I like ‘em both. Cool idea regarding the sail panels… they seems outta place for some reason. Looks like the nail polish laid down beautifully - nice job with the polishing. AK Xtreme Metalizers are awesome… just a little fragile. I’ll bet those two look awesome side by side on your shelf.
  21. Give yourself a pat on the back. You are correct, that kit is a nightmare to build. The 7th photo (rear of the car) is awesome! ?
  22. Excellent build. The added details add to the realism. Nice job on the uncleared paint. ?
  23. The car looked beautiful before the weathering and awesome afterward.?
  24. Beautifully done. ?
