  1. The tiny metallic flakes will surely ruin any chance of good coverage with the marker if I don’t add .0271 grams of paint thinner.
  2. You... you madman! Have you any idea the the difference in weight between purple and black ink???
  3. Me when the moderators eventually have no choice but to shut this circus of a thread down:
  4. Obviously I’ll be eventually? working with fine tip: As evidenced by the photo, the tip of a normal Fine Point Sharpie is a whole 1/8” wide, whereas the Ultra Fine Point Sharpie’s point is only 1/32” wide. This will aid in my goal of 100% unobtainable perfection in detailing my model that I’m stressing over so much, that I haven’t started on yet.
  5. That’s right, I’ll just interject it now! So if the radius (r) of the Sharpie is 1/4”, and given that the plastic wall (w) of the pen is 1/16”, that means the widest part of the inner cavity (S) of the marker is 3/8”, or in layman’s terms: S=r2-w2.
  6. “In order to feel comfortable using a certain silver marker, I have sent multiple emails to a Sharpie spokesperson, and it seems they’re not willing to tell me their exact ingredient list, nor how much the pigment alone in the marker weighs. So I’ll put their name up on this forum for everybody to see. I’m too afraid to use the marker (what if I get an imperfect result???) so what type of book would you guys recommend for me to completely ignore? I’m lactose intolerant so using the marker in my house is a no go. I charted together data reports, and it looks like there is about a 14 mph wind in the next town over, so I can’t use the marker outside either. Perhaps I’ll just be dormant on this forum for another couple of months until I bring up this exact topic again.”
  7. Well said Snake. @Snake45 No sense in getting that worked up over paint when, worst case scenario, you’ve gotta dip some plastic into the lavender lagoon and let it sit for a couple days! Haha As Mr.T says, “I pity the fool!”
  8. I’m thinking the OP is just trolling at this point. Either for attention or laughing at our expense for taking any of this seriously. Either way, from now on it’s probably best to ignore him and his whole painting dilemma until he actually paints something...
  9. Ah, now I see. And it does, thank you for putting them side by side like that. I was hoping the kit’s front end was just a single interchangeable piece. You were correct, the whole front fascia is different. Thanks for going out of your way to teach me about this, I was originally thinking ‘76 was a carryover year.
  10. My advice to you is to just stop sweating the small stuff. Seriously. Why go through all the trouble to try and analyze your paint down to the molecular level, when chances are you’re going to get something like a speck of dust, hair, God forbid a bug, in the paint anyway? The key takeaway is to have fun. It’s a hobby, not a day job.
  11. Thanks for the correction. I wonder if the headlights/grille/filler panel is all one piece on the MPC ‘75 kit.
  12. Not sure why you tagged me then, I was just making a joke about electric cars.
  13. Shoot, and here I was just shakin’ and sprayin’ Tamiya and Rustoleum rattle cans. I guess if you got the free time to be the Walter White of painting then more power to you, but it’s kind of dumb to try and put a Rustoleum employee on blast for not having an exact answer to your somewhat ludicrous questions.
  14. Depends on how many extension cords you’ve got.
  15. I think if we get to the point where carbon dioxide can be cheaply and reliably harvested from the air, and hydrocarbons can be manufactured on a mass scale as a result, then we’ll be able to stick with ICE vehicles, and please all sides of the argument. Synthetic gas will be a more efficient fuel than our current dinosaur wine (more bang for your buck), and environmentalists can can be at ease knowing that ICE vehicles will be pretty much carbon neutral. If that’s the case, then electric cars really could be a fad again, just like in the early 1900’s.
  16. First off, nice model. I like the way you tinted that windscreen. If they don’t backdate it, there’s other options for building a ‘75. The only difference (that I know of) between a ‘75 and a ‘76 is that ‘75s have round headlights and ‘76s got rectangular lamps. MPC did do a run of ‘75’s with round headlamps: ... and I’m sure there are resin ‘75 grilles out there. If not then it wouldn’t be too difficult to modify the grille and headlights. I think it would be worth it to have a model of the last full-size Chevy convertible.
  17. Nice job on those kittypillar parts! Can’t wait to see what else you churn out.
  18. That’s not dust! It just snowed a little.
  19. If you ever find yourself in Tillamook, Oregon, you gotta go to the cheese factory. I highly recommend buying a block or two of their aged white cheddar cheese in the gift shop afterwards. They have it in different years, 2014 and older. Best cheese I’ve ever had.
  20. Past repops of these go for a ridiculous amount of money on ebay. Glad it’ll be affordable again, that kit is a prime subject for a convertible conversion.
