  1. Hey Buddy a little change of pace for you, looking' forward to watching this model come together...heh! gonna have it done by NNL West? c'ya
  2. Thank you I had to reposition the hinges on the front clip to get it to pivot properly.
  3. My second 1957 Corvette for the upcoming NNL West show in January 2017. This is based on the 1/25 scale AMT #6355 "1957 Chevrolet Corvette Gasser" kit. To say this kit is rough, would be an understatement! But it was in the cupboard and nobody else was gonna build it. So I gave it a whirl. Definitely eBay material after the NNL West. Paint is MM Bright Calypso Metallic #28149 with Tamiya TS-7 "Racing White".
  4. Somehow this thread double posted, how do you get rid of the extra thread???
  5. I've had a couple of AMT '57 Corvette Street Machines and a Gasser in my cupboard for quite sometime. And with the main theme for the upcoming NNL West being "7"...I had to build'em! I plan on building 4 different models of the '57 Corvette. The Gasser w/tilt front end, two based on the Street Machine and one stock version using the recently issued Round2 AMT-R2-1015-2 1957 Chevy Convertible Corvette from the Car Builder Series. On this one I used the Street Machine kit AMT #8213 along with the 1995 Corvette in the AMT combo kit #31818. I used the chassis, suspension, running gear, engine and wheels from the '95 Corvette. Goodyear "Polyglas GT" tires are from AMT's Custom and Competition Parts Pack. Tonneau cover is from the AMT '62 Corvette. Paint is Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red.

  7. Thank You If you ever do pick up this kit, you will be glad you did. This is a very well engineered kit, no flash to speak of and it builds up quite effortlessly.
  8. My friend Thomas from Germany sent me this model to build for him. It is the Arrows A20 Pedro de la Rosa drove during the 1999 F1 season. Pretty car, but did not do to well.
  9. that does make sense, well at least the TS-7 is dang close in color to masking tape. I'll just have to knock down the gloss finish to replicate a masking tape finish.
  10. Curtis Turner being my favorite "Old Timer" NASCAR driver, I had to build a model of the 1950 Olds he raced at Daytona Beach in 1950. I started with the very nice 1/25th Revell '50 Oldsmobile kit and decals from "Gopher Racing". The only part of the build I'm not sure of was the color across the the nose of the car. There are only a couple of pictures of the car, could not tell if it was a light yellow or off white. Tamiya Racing White TS-7 has a slight yellow cast to it, so that's what I painted it. The body was painted Chariot Red from ScaleFinishes.
  11. "That's why I make sure my default page I set up in my web browser's bookmarks (Favorites) is to "New Content" set to "Since your last visit". That way I don't miss topics that aren't in categories I'm "officially" interested in." that is exactly what i do...don't miss many threads this way, just wish they would use a larger font to identify the dude starting the thread.
  12. I like it... and you still have room in the bed for a small toolbox!
  13. Looking good, ya might get a tool box in the bed after all. Oh by the way congrats on having one of your models show up in the Scale Auto Contest Annual magazine...can I say that on this forum??? c'ya buddy
  14. I've had the Revell of Germany Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG #07100-0389 since it was first issued. Picked up the Tamiya Mecedes-Benz 300SL #24338 when it was issued. Both had been sitting in my closet for awhile. Decided to do a combo build and display them together. The Tamiya kit is fantastic and what a joy to build! The Revell of Germany Mercedes went together fairly well, with the exception of the final fit of chassis to body. It was tight and I was afraid of busting something, but eventually I got it to fit. Both kits are 1/24th, but the SLS AMG seems to be much larger than the older 300SL...a buddy did confirm the SLS AMG is a much larger vehicle than one would expect. So here they are:
  15. I've found it on Amazon as well.
  16. Happy Belated Birthday Lil'Buddy! I haven't been online in a few days. My buddy Steve said you had another build going, so I found it and I like it! What you do with plastic is amazing and inspiring, thanx! c'ya
  17. Hey Litlle Buddy... very, ver, very nice, looking forward to seeing it next time we meet. keep on building my friend. c'ya
  18. Randy...Birdcage Maserati, you are not afraid of a challenge are you? I'm looking forward to watching you do your wonders
  19. This is a model that has been staring at me from my cupboard for the past 8 - 10 years. I've tried selling at the NNL West, but it just wouldn't go away. Finally I gave up and decided to build it. Not a very bad kit, went together rarely well. The blue paint is Red Bull Racing Blue from Scalefinishes, red and yellow are Tamiya spray paints decanted and air brushed. White is Humbrol from a rattle can.
  20. Geeez, One month later and 4 pages of comments I see you have a new thread going! I'm kinda sharp, heh? Looks like you're having fun with this one. It's a good thing most of us car modelers are old guys who remember what a "Phonebooth" was! Just love your prowess with plastic dude and the "elbows" from Plastruc are great...need to get some! catch ya later, bro
  21. Yikes...that is really scary! Even under a clearcoat the decal will more than likely lift when removing the masking tape! You can try using the liquid mask from Microset. I've also photocopied the decal and created a mask for the area to be covered by the decal. Good Luck
  22. Hey Buddy nice job, looking forward to another one of your builds thanx
