  1. This model got built for a number of reasons. First I actually owned a 1955 1st Series Chevy Pick-up. Second "Bitchin' Rides" is one of my favorite programs on the Velocity Network and third I loved the challenge of pulling this off. I started with the AMT 1950 Chevy Pickup kit, Hendrix Resin 1950 Chevy Panel Delivery, LS3 engine/transmission came from the Revell 2013 Camaro ZL1 kit and Wheels/Tires from the Revell "Good Guys" '30 Ford Woody Street Rod kit. Scratchbuilt the Magnuson supercharger. Modified the 50 Chevy truck chassis to make it look like the Morrison chassis Kindigit Design used. Also scratch built the seats and interior pieces. Paint is ScaleFinishes Audi Salsa Red and Chrysler Cool White. A special thanks goes out to Jameston of ScaleFinishes and Baylee Kindig @ Kindigit Design for their assistance. Thanx for lookin'...
  2. Thanx for the comments and yes Bernard...No-BS - she's done!
  3. Thanx for all the comments...Bumpers have arrived from ChromeTech... She be done!
  4. Finished the interior, chassis, plumbed the engine a little bit more, put the decals, glass, and bare-metal foil on the body. almost ready to put it all together.
  5. details, details...slipped right by me, thanx will be fixing asap
  6. Thanx for the positive comments, picked up a set of Firestone "gold ring" tire decals from IndyCals. Tires/Wheels are finished. Front grill with light covers ready and engine close to being dropped in place. Made my own TransAm seat and resin cast a copy of it.
  7. Thanx Mike...Yeah I pretty much exhausted those sites and I have the Cady decals, covered the Javelins he ran - not the camaros.
  8. Thanx Well it was easy to use this kit...I've had it for 20+ years, it comes with a "gutted" interior and doesn't look too bad as "race car". It may not be perfect, but to quote John Teresi "it's good enough for the girls I run with!"
  9. Thank you HarryP for putting this thread under the correct topic. Got a little more done... Removed the stock fuel tank and replaced with a racing type fuel cell. Built a couple of exhaust headers from solder and aluminum tubing. also picked up a pre-drilled distributor from Replicas & miniatures. Interior, rollcage and firewall painted. Body painted. Used Tamiya TS-16 Yellow...seemed to be the closest I could find to the few color photos of the car that exist. Made a set of decals for the car. More to come, thanx for lookin'
  10. I think a fifth wheel would slow down his camaro a wee bit, not that it wouldn't have the horsepower to handle it
  11. thanx buddy Yeah I figured out one day how to mark the rods so i could have my "fish mouths" line up. just slid the side of a pencil down the rod...presto! and don't ask how I got this topic listed in the Big Rig Workbench thread, just talented I guess
  12. Yeah, I figured out I put it in the wrong Thread after I first loaded it. Didn't know "Big Rigs" had it's own Workbench thread...just entered it in the first Workbench thread I saw I messaged HarryP to move it to the regular Workbench thread I work with "Big Rigs" all day...didn't separate work from pleasure...
  13. Got a few progress photos. The nice thing about this kit is it comes with a competition interior. The center console did have to be ground down. I back filled it with JB Weld and ground away at it once the JB Weld had set. Also scratch-built a roll cage using Mark Donohue's '69 Camaro as a guide.
  14. I used to work with Milt's brother Gerry about a 100 years ago. Ken Epsum had me build a bunch of models of vintage Trans Am cars about that time. I wanted to build a model of the Camaro Milt raced for Roy Woods aka "American Racing Associates". It is the same Camaro Mark Donhue raced in 1969 for Roger Penske. Milt's Camaro did quite well during the 1970 SCCA Trans Am Season. He finished 6th overall in the championship, winning the Donnybrooke race after tangling with George Folmer's Mustang. Finding photos of Milt's Camaro was challenging, did find a couple of Black and Whites of his car and a few color photos of Roy Woods Camaro. Sadly Milt passed away a few years ago. It seems lately I'm building a lot more tribute models, but with the main theme of next years NNL West being the "50th Anniversary of the SCCA Trans Am Series", I decided to build a model of Milt's Camaro. The base kit is the 1/24th Monogram Camaro Z28. Some extra parts to help, tires from Norm @ Replicas & Miniatures. Wheels from Forever Resins (eBay)
  15. Geez...the guys that drove those front engined dragsters had to have "Big Cajones", but that would present a major problem of fitting in the dang thing!
  16. NICE JOHN...and a Potvin Blower to boot!!!! I do enjoy your builds, buddy...it's an inspiration and helps with my own builds to become a better modeler. Keep up the good work c'ya
  17. Hey Buddy Nice to see you're back at it again This model looks great...I need to send ya some wire wheels, don't I? Hope ya get it done in time c'ya
  18. "White Balance" is a common setting on all cameras and you can find it under the camera settings and in the cameras manual.
  19. Beautiful work John...but we need to teach those minions how to build a nice set of wire wheels with "scale spokes", heh?
  20. Looking good Mr. Teresi I've been looking for a "knuckle-head" bike...didn't know this kit ever existed. thanx for contributing to the shrinking of my retirement fund! c'ya
  21. Nope, waiting for the bumpers to arrive from Chrome Tech.
  22. Got mine from a buddy...but if you "google" rare earth magnets, you will find a lot of companies selling these.
  23. Hey John, Fantastic model...I think you are having too much fun with this model! Oh yeah - Happy Birthday!!!
  24. No I won't be doing that. Part of the agreement I had with Kindigit Designs was, this is to be a "one-off" build and it would end up in one of three places: The dude who owns the real truck, Kindigit Designs or in my own display case
  25. Entering the last stages of completing this model. I added a rear bumper valance to the chassis, cleaned up some blemishes, etc on the front bumper valance and side steps. Masked the whole chassis so I could repaint these areas. The KinDigit design door handles were made by pressing milliput in the openings I carved in the doors, sanding them smooth, then bare metal foiled them. The Frenched headlight bezels were turned from 5/8" aluminum tubing, backed by aluminum sheet and used the headlight lens from the AMT '50 Chevy pick up kit. The tail lights were finished with bare metal foil and the lenses are 5 minute epoxy tinted red. Everything got painted, inserted the interior in the cab, rear windows & windshield installed plus a home made decal to represent the wood paneling in the bed. Just waiting to install the mirror, wipers and both bumpers to arrive from Chrome Tech.
