  1. I've been using the "Spaz-Stik" Chrome outta the can for over 10 years know. I have tried Alclad in the can and air brush...still keep going back to the Spaz-Stik Chrome, easier to use and seems to be more durable than Alclad I prefer spraying it over Tamiya's TS-55 Dark Blue instead of gloss black The chrome finish is a little cooler over the blue, over a black base - it's a little to harsh & dark for me. As far as primer goes...I would use the primer best suited to your base coat. Spaz-Stik doesn't really care what the primer is...
  2. Here are a few photos of the parts I made and used to build the model: electric motor: resin cast battery box: seat made from a plastic coke bottle top: wheels from the "parts box" and tires are O-rings: again, thanx for looking'...
  3. At a recent model car club meeting a discussion started on the upcoming NNL West in January of next year. The Special Theme for the show is "Land Speed Record Cars" and someone mentioned they race anything and everything at venues like Bonneville, etc., so I responded "Barstools"? Guess what, there is a class for barstools at Bonneville. They must be powered by a 12 volt electric motor and use only one battery. The current speed record at Bonneville for an electric barstool is over 53 mph! Here's a photo of a barstool racer on course: Inspiration and design came from the world speed record holding barstool racer shown below: I decided to build one for the NNL West. It would be 1/12th scale and need a "bar" theme, hence the Shock Top Special - to honor one of my favorite adult beverages. Additional sponsorship would come from "Johnny's Bar and Grill", a local watering hole in Hollister, CA. thanx for looking'...
  4. Very Nice, F1 models always welcome...
  5. Looks like fun, I was wondering what your next project would be. Isn't a '49 Ford a little to "modern" for you to be workin' on?
  6. Thanx It does not have engine detail to speak of, just what you can see through the body. It is your basic curbside F1 car model.
  7. I had a friend send me this model to build for his collection. It's a 1/20th scale model of the McLaren MP4/27 Lewis Hamilton drove in the 2012 Australian GP produced by Fujimi (GP-43). He qualified on the pole, but finished in third place. Body is painted with Mr. Color Super Metallic "Plate Silver Next" SM08, kit decals supply the additional colors. Typical Fujimi plastic model kit, everything fits superbly! This is what a front wing with 27 pieces looks like: only took about 5 hours to build, ooofta! thanx for looking'
  8. Vous cherchez une bonne M. Bernard Kron...
  9. Back in May 2010 I posted the following topic on the forum... "How to make wire screens for intake systems" just copy and paste the title in the search box above and away you go... It does require using a Micro Punch Set from Micro-Mark good luck
  10. I'm in the process of building a model of the Essex Wire Cobra 427 which ran with the Webers I am using the Weber set from Historic Racing Miniatures (exquisite detail) plan on separating both banks of the intact and use a sheet of plastruct to fill the gap...note the carbs were angled to the center of the engine for hood clearance on the Cobra 427's I don't think the size of the carbs is going to be a problem between the 289 and 427...webers-is-webers good luck
  11. No base coat needed...just a good primer underneath
  12. Hey Little Buddy...trying to sneak one by me, heh! Steve told me you had a model on the forum...and it's looking good I have not been on the forum much lately, having PC problems...so I switched to a Mac Keep on building my friend lookin' forward to following this build c'ya
  13. TS-17 "Gloss Aluminum" works best over a primer coat and needs to be applied in multiple mist coats, but the best silver from Tamiya is TS-30 "Silver Leaf"...can be shot straight on the plastic w/o running to the edges and panel lines
  14. Sorry, I just assumed everybody knew that all motorcycle kits are 1/12th scale... It is 1/12th scale, based off the Revell series William, it is 1/12th scale
  15. more F1 models...nice!!! thanx for sharing
  16. thanx, now I gotta go lookin' for some knuckleheads and shovels
  17. Not much, just a little sanding/filing here and there...no pin holes in the resin and everything fit quite well
  18. I love to build a Knucklehead and/or a Shovel...just where do you find them in 1/12th scale
  19. A company called E.Jan, a guy in Germany sent me the kit to build for him. When he opened it up and saw all the resin, white metal parts and decal sheet - he got a little scared
  20. After seeing a gazillion motorcycles in Hollister over the 4th of July weekend, I got inspired to build a bike. Had an old springer front end laying around along with a tear-drop gas tank and electronics pack from Replicas & Minmiatures. Made up a set of wire wheels, trick exhaust and seat - this is what I came up with: Thanx for lookin'...
  21. Venturing into the 1/20th scale multi-media Formula One kits... Sebastan Vettel's Toro Rosso STR3 as raced in 2008 F1 Championship. All of the assorted parts: resin, white metal, turned aluminum wheels and photo-etched gathered for a group photo... Big decal sheet for the body parts, small is for the tires and ya get a seat belt kit as well... Throw in a bottle of Scalefinishes "Red Bull Blue"...put everything back in the box give it a good shaking and you get this: thanx for lookin'...
  22. ScaleFinishes has the best color match...he includes a 2 oz bottle of the light blue metallic and a 1 oz bottle of the medium blue used around the wheel wells Here's a link to model I built of this car using scalefinishes paint: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89746&hl= good luck...
