Based on Ed Sexton's reply after asking him about future variants based on the Revell Tri-Five tooling-- I specifically asked if '55 and '57 Nomad kits were either planned, in consideration, or possible in the future-- he stated that series had pretty much run its course. I took that to mean this upcoming '57 'vert will be the last of the series. He did offer up that a '57 2-door wagon is the most requested new Tri-Five kit, though, so time will tell. The Monogram 1/25 '55 Bel Air convertible included only a rear continental bumper, too. Hmmmm... The first two pictures I posted early this morning shows all which was on the display board. I am *assuming* the balance of the kit will come from the existing '57 210 kit, much like what will happen with the '49 Mercury Woodie/Custom kits. What are the two round parts to the right of the RH door panels?

1/25 Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 2'n1 Special Edition
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not if both are true to their stated scales. I wouldn't be surprised to eventually see LX and GT hatchbacks in this same 1/25 scale series, and I would think someone will have a resin LX hatchback conversion ready by the end of 2013 for use with the LX notchback. -
Value is different for everyone, which is why these "What's it worth" questions have no definite answer, so the only way to help is to try and show what similar kits have sold for. Ken still needs to compare condition, location, etc. of each sold item to the one he has, but it'll give him a decent idea. Anything is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it when it's available to buy.

I picked through a few built/junk boxes at the swap meet and found these two complete with all their associated parts: Got some MPC stickers, a GMC van grille (A-Team build), and STP Turbine kit for the riding mower, another '60s ear seated driver figure, a bunch of '90s AMT and Revell/Monogram catalogs, and some more AMT Chevy Rally wheels from the '72 Nova kit.

Some Japanese kits do too, and they dry out and split in a few years. Revell's 1/16 Funny Car and Top Fuel tires were made in Japan for many years, and they eventually dry rotted and cracked, too, so maybe the softer compounds aren't the answer. I have a few softer rubber-like tires from the Monogram '55 Ford pickup which are still holding up well, but I can't recall any vinyl tires cracking and dry rotting, so maybe the material makes a big difference in terms of longevity. I wouldn't mind of kit manufacturers went back to including styrene tires again, either. We prep and finish every other part of a kit, so why not the tires? It seems other than sanding the mold seam or the entire tread area tires are an afterthought to most. As someone mentioned earlier, when tires have whitewalls or sidewall lettering added before the tires are installed, the flexibility of the tire is a major concern. Maybe that's why Revell was going to include tampo printed whitewalls in the '50 Olds kit (and future kits?) and why Round2 has invested heavily in tampo printed slicks and whitewalls, too.

Try a Completed Items search on eBay for the specific kit you have and you can see what others like it sold for.

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
1) My pics aren't all that good, but you can see the basic shape of the tail light and reverse light bezel at the lower left in this pic: I am assuming Revell will not include include clear red lenses for the brake/tail lights, and I don't see any clear lenses for the backup lenses. I don't think they could mold the bezels as separate pieces (too fragile/thin), though: -
So What does Revell Have up Their Sleeves?
Casey replied to tabsscale1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Money isn't the only consideration, I can assure you that, but if Revell wants to stay in business they need to make a profit on the kits they sell. More upfront licensing costs = less profit, and maybe not enough to proceed with the kits. It sounds to me like that's the case here. I was a bit surprised by the new kit announcement tidbit, as I don't recall Revell doing that mid-year before? No complaints from me, though. -

Yes, that was exactly what Ed Sexton stated in the Scale Modeling Hour interview from last August. -

That's exactly the reason, and it was mentioned that when you want to make a kit of Dale Jr.'s 2013 NASCAR ride, you need to get licensing for the car manufacturer (GM?), from NASCAR, and from the driver/team owner's licensing arm, so it's a bit of a triple whammy. -

I would like to change my answer. 1) '62 Corvette variant with the uptop 2) Some new kits to announce 3) No 1/16 Funny Car news 4) No NASCAR kit announcements 5) A few surprises -
Might want to get some comfy pajamas. It sounds like this kit may be the last of the Tri-Fives from Revell.

Studebaker Community Build...with a Meet & Greet in South Bend, IN?
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Community Builds
Main frame crossmembers squared and two smaller engine mount crossmembers added: The bellypan frame, and body look like they'll all work together: Ride height and wheel/tire clearance looks good, too: -
I wasn't liking the rectangular upper half of the gas tank, and the molded in straps and brackets weren't pretty either, so the area between the framerails was removed from the '69 chassis, and replaced with the same section from the '68 Dart kit, only modified. I cut off the gas tank, cleaned up the spare tire well section, filled in the new floorpan hole where the molded-in gas tank was located, and added the missing third of the well using the '69's well. Here you can see the '69 section which was added to complete the well, and the filler piece above it: I added a .030" filler strip on both sides of the floor section, then test fit it in the chassis until I was satisfied. I also squared up the framerails a bit, filled in two sink marks, then started removing the rear torque boxes. The front leaf spring bracket "pads" have yet to be removed in this pic: The hood got another coat of filler primer and is now ready for me to add the bracing to the underside, but the notch/gap on the fender, near the right rear corner of the hood, still needs attention:

I'd be willing to bet they already have it planned as a future release. Looking at the layout of the sprues in the parts board pics, they have really set it up to allow for a lot of flexibility as far as future variants are concerned. -

Is the '69 C.O.P.O Camaro on the list (insert Hop Sing joke here) yet? Revell's webstore says "late May." Looking back at the 2012 Fall announcements from Revell http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58841 , it appears all 24 full-detail (i.e., SnapTite kits excluded) reissue/modified reissue kits made it through and are available now or will be in the next two months. The 1/25 Revell Chevy Custom Van kit would make sense if they want to release another van, and the '93 Chevy S-10 would be an even better idea. Maybe another of the 1/25 Revell gasser kits? Austin, Henry J, or Anglia? An official confirmation of the 1/16 Hawaiian F/C would be nice, too. -
