1/24 Goodyear Eagle GT tires now available
Casey replied to Chief Joseph's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I just received them yesterday! I don't have pics of them on a car, but really, what more do you need? They're gonna look like Eagle GTs, no matter which vehicle you install them on. -
Kit price @ hobby lobby
Casey replied to s10chevypu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the DC Comics licensin/royalties plays a role in the prices of those particular kits, too. $25-$30 is about the cost for a modern Revell kit these days, and Round2 seems to be pushing the lower limits of the price range with their resissues, most of which contain fewer parts and are, well. not nearly as nice as a newer kit. -
You're going to have to open up your wallet if you want a complete kit. The Modelhaus' resin cast parts are excellent, and if you combine them with the most recent issue of the AMT/Ertl '78 or '79 Lil Red Express pickup you'll have much of what you need, but not all. Modelhaus offers only the 6-1/2' bed, not the 8' longbed. My $.02- buy a complete unstarted orignal kit (not the Ram Tuff monster truck version) and enjoy it. After you spend $21 for the Modelhaus bed, another $10-$15 for the Lil Red kit, plus shipping on both, you're almost at $50, and you probably will still need more parts.

No idea yet, Mike. Yes, the area where the resin feed tube is cut away will be smooth, but it will be at the bottom, touching the ground, or it can be rotated to the top where it will be hidden in the wheel well. -
Dodge tracked vehicle
Casey replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was thinking the same, but at $55, I desire it a bit less now. I have no idea what this completed model measures, but I would guess around 16" or so, since it's 1/32 scale? -
The Modelhaus' 1/25 1967 Cougar trans kit
Casey replied to mustang nut's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
One look at the pictures and you can get a pretty good idea of Modelhaus' product quality. They are a stand up company who have been giving modelers great stuff for many years. Truth is, there are a lot of great aftermarket companies out there, but the not-so-good companies tend to be the ones we hear and read about the most, and have the most drama surrounding them here on the forum. Even though the good companies deserve more credit for doing what they do well, it's very telling when you look through the Resin section and see nothing but praise and compliments for companies like The Modelhaus, Replicas & Miniaures of Marlyland, Motor City Resin Casters, Morgan Automotive Detail, Missing Link, SMBC, Speed City Resin, Bandit Resins, Competition Resins, Fireball Modelworks, and many others. Then, look through the locked topics in this section and you can see who should be avoided. -
1/24 Goodyear Eagle GT tires now available

I just received two sets of resin Eagle GT tires from Fireball Modelworks ( http://www.fireballm...nfo/fmr-020.htm ) and there are absolutely beautiful. The tread detail is crisp, the raised outline sidewall lettering is accurate and even, and each side features a slightly different height for the lettering to match the raised outline white lettering or the more subtle and slightly less raised non-OWLs of the 1:1 tires. These tires are designed to replace Monogram's Goodyear GT Radial vinyl tires which were high tech for 1978, but not for any performance car newer than '85 or so. Joseph at Fireball has come to our rescue by creating these all new Eagle GT tires, so now there's no excuse for you not building an accurate Buick GN, Monte Carlo SS, or '83 Hurst/Olds Cutlass. I test fit a few different wheels from various Monogram kits, so here are the pics of two of those tires. Why only two pictures with wheels inside the tires? All the Monogram wheels I tested were a nice, snug fit (not super tight, but you do need to press them into place, which is exactly how I like them to fit) inside the tires and were a perfect fit. American Racing Torq Thrust from Monogram '70 Plymouth GTX: Monogram (Revell's current Streetburner reissue, to be accurate) '84 Monte Carlo SS factory wheel: You can easily see the raised letters in the above image, contrasting nicely against the black wheel lip. Here are a few more images of the bare tires, and note how clean they are straight out of the package. Little to no cleanup will be needed-- exactly what excellent quality castings should look like as delivered. I don't have a rating system, but if I did, these would get an A+. The quality is excellent, they were shipped quickly, and communication was excellent. I knew exactly when they had shipped and when I should expect them, and they arrived when they were supposed to, in a well packed and cushioned bubble envelope. Thank you, Joseph, and I hope you decide to take on a few other scale tire projects in the future, as I can't think of anyone better to make them. -

Just received my tires today from Joseph, and they are excellent. I will post a full review in the Resin section, but I just wanted to give Joseph credit for creating a great set of tires which are much needed, and extremely well done. Thank you, Joseph. -
COPO Camaro is Back!
Casey replied to Patrick2005's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I really like the looks of the new Camaro, but this one looks overinflated and bulbous with the arched cowl induction scoop, the undersized wheels, and a way too tall ride height. If GM want to truly pay tribute to the 69 1969 C.O.P.O 9560 Camaros, they shouldn't be adorned with any graphics, just like the originals. Automatic transmission only? -

I think the injector scoop needs to be changed back to original, too. -
It looks great, and I especially like the color. I may even have an old can of DupliColor in that color in my stash. The whitewall tires and hubcaps work well with the stock look, too.

Revell 1940 Custom Pick Up--Coming Soon

That's what I recall reading in reviews of the kits when they were originally released- lots of nice details, but there are fit issues and I thought there was a problem with the hoods not closing completely on some? I will have to dig up Larry Greenberg's review if I still have the old SAE issues...or maybe Larry remembers and can post.

Sorry, I mis-read and missed the bed type. Here are the three Revell snap-tite kits from the SAE article of a few years ago: -

Thank you, Luc. I've never seen nor heard of the Blue Thunder Blazer until now. I have to wonder it was ever made, though, as it looks like there are a few different/new parts, and the half-roof of the '75+ Blazers is gone, which would have required a new body mold. I wonder if it was planned, but cancelled when the showed flopped, leaving the helicopter as the only vehicle from the TV series which was released? -
AMT Ohio George`s '33 Willys Malco Gasser
Casey replied to rssschris's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It would be nice to see it reissued with original box art and correct Ohio George decals, and Round2 ABSOLUTLEY NEEDS TO update the wheels and include better tires, as the off-road looking Goodyear Rally GT tire the kit has included since the '70s are horrible. -

I think you are thinking of Revell's 1/25 scale "Night Rider" Flareside 4x4 snap kit, which was black. -
Niko, whatever happened with this build?
-
Far too many times the word "awesome" is used to describe something which is not truly awe-inspiring, but without question, this build matches the definition of the word awesome. Wow, wow, wow. I am truly in awe, John. Your ability to solve problems and come up with creative solutions, the fit and finish, and capturing the overall look of the 1:1 trike- it's all here for all to see, and it's awesome, period.

1961 Rambler American Sedan...A resto of an old Johan kit
Casey replied to BHarrison's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I really like this blocky bodystyle from Kenosha. Nice work on the P/E grille insert. Was that a generic piece or was it originally designed for a different model/kit?
