  1. There seem to be some issues when you try to select a Main category while creating a Wanted Ad. I got one ad to work, then the second one will not allow you to change or set the main or addiitional categories- the "Proceed" button is not working, so you end up in an endless loop.
  2. So Revell is planning to release both lowrider and Donk versions (or a 2'n'1) of the '87 Olds Cutlass?
  3. Click here: http://www.fineartmodels.com/pages/product...roduct_area=139 This is truly amazing. Way above and beyond being a model, IMO, but talk about dedication- 15 years to complete, and three years alone to do the drawings!?!?
  4. What, you got four good kits for $200 and we're supposed to be jealous? Say hello to the Haters! Ok, seriously, The '70 Olds is good to kitbash with the MPC '69 442, the '69 Nova is awesome, the '65 Chevy p-up & Hemi Hyrdo is a good purchase, and the Revell '55 Chevy is a geat buy, too, but the rest? I hope they paid you to take those!! I love the feeling of walking away from a swap meet when you scored some great stuff, so it's nice to see you went home happy.

    '71 GTX 440-6

Very nice, indeed. Are you plannng to BMF the rocker panel trim, too? Nice job on the overflow reservior- those aren't easy to paint well and have them look realistic.
  6. I'm not aware of any large scale plastic kits of a Viper. For a typical car... 1/24 = 8" 1/16 = 12" 1/12 = 16" 1/8 = 24"

  8. You should talk with the store manager, or even address the assistant manager directly if you feel there was an issue. Maybe she just was having a bad day... Click here: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/display...ticleNum=ae0379 "As a customer oriented business, our top priority is excellent service and product selection. Comments like yours are instrumental in helping us provide the level of service, knowledge and attitude you should expect from Michaels Stores, Inc. If you would care to place your comments in writing, you may click here, to submit your issue directly to customer support. We can then forward your comments to the District Manager and Store Manager of the store concerned or you may call 1-800-642-4235."
  9. I would consider it a major selling point to be able to use the newer AMT '71 Duster chassis and engine compartment with this body, rather than be required to use the old MPC metal-axle based chassis. If the body was designed to use the newer chassis, even better.
  10. How well does the recent AMT '71 Duster chassis fit under it?

    Hi haters

Is that a rear bumper on the front?
  12. I would just leave the zip ties off, as I think no matter what you use, the zip ties are going to look too big. We're talking 1/8" divided by 25 = really, really small. I've seen people attempt to replicate every little detail from a 1:1 car, and it often looks too cluttered. I suggest you keep it simple. One other suggestion- try your local hobby shop for thin aluminum sheet from K&S. It'll be easier to cut, shape and work with than step flashing (though that is a good idea) and you'll have a larger flat piece to use, too.
  13. I've always liked the lines of '59 El Caminos, especially the roof overhang. Thank you for leaving the Double Whammy hood bulge off-it's hideous, IMHO. I like the headlight covers (clear red?), but what would really make the model come to life is red or rose-tinted "glass". Where did the rear American 5-spokes come from?
  14. I've never had any issues with Michael's, even when I pull out the Jo-Ann Fabrics 40% off coupon, like I did today. I had to ask for some help to find a certain product (something I don't like to do), got some, then I still couldn't find it. The employee took me right to what I was looking for and was happy to help. Honestly, I could care less if someone treated me like ###### or gave me dirty looks when I went into any store, not just Michael's. I'm going in to look at or buy what I want, and when I'm armed with my 40% off coupon, nobody's gonna stop me!
  15. From the AMT '66 Olds 442 kit? I edited my post since I messed up the year and '67 H/Ls are not siamesed like the '66 H/Ls are.
  16. Oops, yes, I'm doing them in the non-hideaway style, as pictured. Hmm, I might have to find a '66 4-4-2 kit then. Good idea. I will definitely paint it a color other then Carousel Red- I've been looking over all of the paint and strip combos online and have lots of choices. Thanks for the help, Jeff.
  17. Mredz- just Google "vintage funny car forums" and you'll have hours of photos to look at. As mentioned, the Cop Out kit was originally released by Monogram (when they and Hot WHeesl were both owned by Mattel, IIRC) as Tom Mongoose McEwen's Duster F/C, so that would be a great replica, but there were plenty of others who ran Duster F/Cs, too.
  18. Thanks, Chris. I know the Revell '71 Hemi Cuda 'vert and Dodge Magnum are on clearance here for $9.99, and it will be nice to see some new kits on the shelves. I think I've stocked up on all I need from the current selection. BTW, will there be any more of the Revell two-kit combos, such as the Dodge Charger ('69 & '08 STR8 Uptown), Vette ('68 vert and '06 Z06), Viper/Ferrari, or Hertz Mustangs? Those were nice to get on clearance for $4.99 each! I've noticed Michael's has cut back on the coupons bit, but you can still use competitors coupons (Jo-Ann fabrics, Hobby Lobby, etc.) at Michael's, at least here in the Milwaukee area.
  19. All styles will be remembered, regardless of what you classify them as. The problem is identifying new trends that didn't exist before, and that's not easy. I'd say lowriders have had a significant following since the '50s, but in the last decade their popularity has exploded, so don't consider that a "now" style. Donk/boxes/bubbles are definitley a "now" trend, but I see them going the way of custom vans- losing lots of steam compared to their heyday, but still having a devoted following indefinitely. As Jarius commented on, the high-tech/billet thing is pretty much dead- it was a very '80's thing and burned so hot so fast, it seems to have burned out. I would lump Pro Street in the same category, but both will always have a following, no matter how small. Traditional rods (not a fan of the term "Rat Rods") have and will always be around, period. Ditto traditional customs. Tuners are a tough one. There have been tuner-type cars for a long time, but they haven't had the huge following like they do now. I don't see this trend fading anytime soon, so only time will tell if it ever has to come back. I'm sure some remember the Street Freak style that was breifly popular in the late '70s and early '80s, and is all but dead, save for a few people building retro-style or restoring and orignal Street Freak type vehicle. I am always surprised monster trucks have contunued to be so popular, as it seems like a typical '80s, excessive style...but they're still going strong. Pro Touring? I don't see them being all that different that street machine type vehicles, and those are pretty much the default "class" for modified vehicles. It will be interesting once electric vehicles start to get a foothold in the market. Someday you might be building a retro 2010 Chevy Volt.
  20. I'm planning to build the Monogram '69 GTO Judge kit with the headlight doors in the open position, like so: Are there any currently available kits from which I could obatin a reasonably close quad headlight setup? Lenses shouldn't be a problem to find but the siamesed buckets might be...or maybe I'm just not thinking clearly.
  21. I agree. Here's a not very good pic of one of those tires: I still like the pie crust slicks from the Monogram Boot Hill Express and Lil Coffin kits, but they are true slicks with no tread detail:
  22. Is the body shell piece in the '68 kit the same as in the '69 kit, except for the vinyl top being left off the roof and the side makers being filled on the '68 version? I think all of the other '68 or '69-specific body panels (tail panel, etc.) are separate pieces.
  23. Are you trying to make a stock appearing '66 Chevelle 2-door wagon or a custom version?
