    Magnum Tag

Try ".357" or ".44" for the obvious (or leave out the "." if you're going for 100% realism) or maybe "THOMAS" if you're a Magnum P.I. fan. Anything that plays off the word Magnum will work.
  3. The angle of the headlight surrounds/buckets on a '69 Dart and '73+ Dart Sport are different. The Dart Sport headlights are square to the h/l buckets, while on a '69 Dart, the h/l buckets are canted in relation to the headlamps. The grille detail/texture is different, too. Different number of horizontal bars, different detailing around the signal/parking lamps, etc. Here's a huge detial pic of a '69 grille to compare to the '73 Dart Sport s grille above: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/69DodgeDartUptownFrontright.jpg[/img
  4. I would suggest you use either the 455 from the new Revell '72 Olds Cutlass convertable kit or the AMT/MPC '69 Olds 442/Hurst Olds kits.
  5. That's very cool that you still have both the model and box. Here's the Street Fighter page on Tom Daniel's 'site: http://tomdaniel.com/85_kits/frm_85kits.html
  6. I honestly can't see anyone scratchbuilding the grille as it's incredibly detailed, with lots of both vertical and horizontal bars. Add in the horizontal bars which wrap around the parking/signal lights and it would have to have perfect spacing to look correct. I think a photetched grille overlay would be the way go, using the re-issued MPC Smokey Chaser kit's grille as the base, with modifications. The molded in headlights would have to go and you'd need to hog out the grille center, then put the PE grille center in place, add parking/signal lamps back in from the backside, and add more realistic clear headlamp lenses. And I thought a '70 Challenger shaker hood was a PITA to create.
  7. Ooooh, excellent 'site, thanks! The Yellow Bord is so ugly I think I like it.
  8. If you can locate a set of 5-slot wheels from the original 1/16 MPC '71 Dodge Charger kits, I'd suggest you use those: I'm not sure if anyone has cast resin copies or not.
  9. I see a Redbird but no Skybird? Do you have Michael Lamm's excellent book, "The Fabulous Firebird"? Lots of pics, behind the scenes info, and enough facts and specs to please even the most avid F-body nut. Perhaps my second favorite Formula ever, a '76:
  10. I love the forced perspective look when viewed from the front. It really adds to the model's sleekness at that angle.
  11. That is very impressive. I agree that some of the detail is lost when the engine is assembled, but for a diorama, the engine could be the focal point. It reminds me of the Aurora 1/16 DOnovan and HEMI engines, which had lots of detail, included separate pistins, connecting rods, rod caps, etc., but not quite this level of detail. When I saw the car it's going into I thought "Big deal, it's a Monogram 1/12 '69 Cama-" Oh that's right, it's 1/8 scale. I hope you keep us updated on the model's progress.
  12. Sounds like you've got some scratchbuilding to do. I tried to find headlights for the '69 grille (non-hideways), but the bezels are so small in scale once they're fit inside the grille that there's not much material left to work with. Is the '68 rear bumper Revell supplies in correct, or were you asking for a chrome front bumper only?
  13. The chopped top helps, but now it needs to be sectioned and have that pig nose fixed.
  14. Windex or any product with ammonia will remove the chrome. EasyOff oven cleaner will work, but I would only use that as a last resort.
  15. These are '55s, but done gasser style, so close enough to tag along on this thread:
  16. I can't make out any detail from that pic other than the center horizontal divider, but I can't tell if it's raised or recessed. This is not an easy grille to scratchbuild. You'll have to toss the headlight bezels, use the perimeter of the grille you've got, and create the rest using styrene strips. Not to be pessimistic, but I wish you luck.
  17. I agree. I've built both the '54 Sedan and Sedan Delivery, and the fit isn't anything to brag about, but with some work they turn out OK. With the K.I.S.S. principle in mind, build the Top Fueler. I think my first kit/build will be to finish the Monogram '70 GTX I started last year.
  18. What he said. Your friend obviously liked AMT kits!
  19. The late '90s stock re-issue version of the '70 Super Bee never came with the prototype Hemi engine, nor the Pro Street parts. I never bought the Pro Street version, so did it come with all of the stock parts, too (i.e. stock chassis, rear suspension, interior, etc.)? Saying Round2 should've included ALL the parts from both the stock and Pro Street issues is wishful thinking, since they never were all included in one kit box to my knowledge.
  20. If you still can't get into the chat (or can't type after you do get in) you may want to go to www.java.com and update to the latest version. BTDT with another chat room and once updated, it worked fine. $.02
  21. Does anybody make a shaker hood and scoop setup for use witht the 1/24 Monogram (now Revell) '70 Dodge Challenger T/A kit?
  22. I updated to IE8 this weekend and have no issues anywhere in the board using the "Tech" skin. There are nine different skins to choose from- is there not one single skin that causes no issues on your end?
  23. Is that a set of Arii wheels on the '69 Nova? Nice looking models. I'd say you done very well for one year!
  24. Me, too. Are they all the same wheelbase? I'd love to build one like this with the Gladiator grille:
  25. The TJ Taxi comes with Hoosier rear slicks now?
