Bart, while I haven't used any of the spray products yet, I do have on my shelf a 1/72 scale F-86 Sabre that I foiled with BMF 20+ years ago and then applied the waterslide decals over the foil. It looks fine still with no lifting of decals, etc. I did not use any gloss coats on anything. I do remember the foilng process was tedious, but I love the results. Sorry no picture, my computer doesn't like downloading photos from my phone!

Thanks for your reply, John. I have a several decades old glue bomb rescue 1959 Buick Invicta convertible project that will get either a nailhead if I find a good one or the Chevy 409 left over from the 1959 Impala kit I stole the frame from. LOL Jim D.

Andrew, I have really enjoyed your posting on Jim Clark's Lotus 25. Clark was my first driver hero when I was a pre-teen. I was in junior high when I found out he had been killed. I remember I was taking final exams that day. Needless to say, I didn't do well on them.

Perhaps I overlooked it, but for me (tool wise) a quality set of tweezers are a necessity, especially as I age and the digital dexterity gets shaker and shakier. I use needle point tweezers for almost every part placement. The tweezers designed for decal placement are also a welcome item in my model building toolkit. Welcome to the hobby and this forum.
