  1. I contracted encephalitis in 1963 and was pretty much a knot on a log for over a year and then suffered from the brain damage for the rest of my life...at least that's what my friends and family say, and I welcome the excuse LOL!
  2. Welcome aboard the forum Shawn! Looks like you are already turning out some fine-looking models. Jim Dodson
  3. Great looking diorama! Do the American Diorama figures come pre-painted?
  4. Maurice, first of all Thank you for your service. Those are sweet racers! Your craftmanship shows well. Well done!
  5. Sean, my rickety old memory says that vintage of vans of all makes was notorious for not holding alignments and that can cause that type of uneven tire wear.
  6. Welcome Mark. Those are some sweet looking builds!
  7. I remember having a very memorable fishing trip to the Sardis Reservoir where a Gar longer than our bassboat broached along side and gave my brother and I the "stink eye"! Needless to say, that ended our fishing that day! LOL
  8. Joe, would you be in the Sardis, MS area then?
  9. I built my first model in 1959 at age 6. It was the AMT 1940 Ford Tudor and the Coupe version followed soon thereafter. Any vestiges of my modeling career prior to 1972 disappeared in one of my mom's many garage sales during my Air Force years. Oh yeah, those garage sales also saw the exit of my late 1950's vintage Lionel /Plasticville collection. Mom was very good about sending me the couple of bucks (literally) she sold all my stuff for. But, at the time a couple of bucks was almost a week's pay for this A1C. LOL Wick, don't feel bad about a long post... This old man's ramblings can go longer than necessary LOL and I never got paid for my writing unless you count the lesson plans and tech manuals covered by the salaries!
  10. Can confirm this info, used it many times in my USAF days. We called it PSP
  11. Congratulations on a beautiful build! Masking those color separations must have caused a pain or two LOL.
  12. Welcome to the forum Glen. Some nice-looking models. Your weathering is most impressive. Well done! Jim
  13. Welcome to the forum David and thank you for your service.
  14. Bill, your tale rang so many of my memory bells. Such as, J.C. Whitney, air cooled bugs. I had put an EMPI Quick Shift kit on my used 1971 and fell in love with that bug all over again! 15 years I kept that Beetle, long enough to justify the replacement carpet and upholstery kit. (Both from previously mentioned catalog). Even used the ex-wife's real estate agent's signs she left in MY garage taking up wasted space when she moved out to patch the corrosion hole in the rear pan from a leaking battery. Eventually gave the car to my niece for her first car (but made her daddy teach her how to drive a stick on hilly roads. LOL
  15. To me this now screams for a wraparound speedster style wind screen. Right in keeping with your intention to add wheel Flares.
  16. Bob, when I first started posting comments, I saw a delay as well until my comments had been approved by a moderator, but after a fairly short period of time and a number of posts I see my posts appear as soon as I click submit so I guess I have been judged harmless LOL Welcome back to the hobby and to this forum. Jim D
  17. Love the design, looking forward to seeing more, please!
  18. Thanks for the reply Scott, but I should have defined my preference for 1/24 - 1/25 scales as those are the only scales I build in for automobile subjects.
  19. The AMT Indy Lotus and its Basket of Snakes exhaust made me feel very inadequate as a teenage model builder, but I bullheaded my way through it then and then again forty years later. Oddly enough, I don't remember those exhaust being tough at all the second time. LOL
  20. Are the Createx products low oder? Can I get away with using them in my airbrush without going to the trouble of setting up my spray booth ventilation system? Thanks in advance. Jim
  21. With that dry wit is your middle initial T. by any chance? Welcome aboard the forum. I have never built a truck kit in my 65 years in this hobby, but I really look forward to seeing more of your work.
  22. That episode came to mind the instant I saw this one posted, but the 1958 Chevrolet shot down my thought! LOL
