Wow this is really sharp great job on the testors lacquer . This is the first one I’ve seen done. It looks like another great kit . I need to get a stack of these.

I built this using mostly johan Mickey Thompson mustang parts. About 12 years ago I was at the nnl east and this guy was selling a whole box of the johan mustang funny cars . Here’s the hitch they were partial kits in plastic bags missing all the chrome trees . I figured I could find enough substitute parts in my spare’s box to finish them so I bought the whole box of 10 for a real bargain. So on this one i used the front suspension ,rear , and the blower parts from the mpc funny car kit . The wheels came by way of the leftovers from a polar lights funny car with mpc slicks and some random front tires from the parts box . It made the front axle sit a little to far forward but I all ready had it assembled and painted and didn’t want to take it apart. The paint color is tamyia bright orange and it’s topped off with chuck boener decals . Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

The mpc grumpy’s toy kit with a swapped out small block painted with testors white and gold enamel. I pieced the decals together from various slixx sheets. I just can’t build enough of these pro stock Vegas there a nice easy quick build that look great on the shelf. I’ve built 9 so far and have decals for at least 4 more. I think it would be great if Steve G and the folks at round 2 would reissue the pro stock pinto with the earlier 1972 skinny bumpers , and the Sox & Martin duster .Thanks for checking it out, mike

I knew a guy in high school that had a chevette he’d park it in the back of the parking lot and ask the hot chicks if they wanted a ride in his vette . Of course they thought corvette boy were they surprised

This is out of the box johan the only thing I modified is the rear deck lid spoiler. The beautiful candy apple red is tamyia clear red over a silver base coat out of rattle cans of coarse. The decals are from slixx. Until next time thanks for looking, Mike

I started building this 30 some years ago when you could still get a johan kit at your local hobby shop. That’s when we still had a few of them around the days before the internet. I started with a AMT/ERTL reissue of the 70 Camaro. I took out the body and cut it apart to lengthen the wheel base to fit the funny car chassis. In this time era resin bodies were in their infancy and many were of poor quality. The slixx decal company was just getting rolling , and testors was starting to put some great colors in rattle cans . Boy do I miss their old selection of colors and the convenience of strolling into your local hobby shop, and pick out your colors. During this time frame of the mid 80’s to early 90’s the only readily available funny car chassis in 1/25 scale from revell and johan . There was also the mpc corvette funny cars however they were a little to modern for this build. So I went with the chassis from the Johan ram rod challenger kit. At the time I had planned to make this the Jungle Jim camaro as I had the Fred Cady decals for it then for some reason after I finished the body mod’s it went in a box, and that’s where it stayed as I took a twenty year hiatus from model building. About a month ago I came across it and decided to finish it. This time using slixx Malcolm Durham decals some of which were a little intimidating and hard to put on. I painted it with a old can of testors pearl blue enamel. I already had the chassis done from years ago. It’s box stock johan with one exception which was using the heads and valve covers from the mpc flip nose 53 ford pick up kit. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

The pinto decals are complete and it’s nearly done.

I made this from the revell 41 Willy’s kit there are a few small changes. The front wheels are resin the headers are from the AMT 33 Willy’s kit . I dropped the stance by simply gluing the axle on top of the springs. The candy apple red paint job is testors rattle can clear red enamel over sliver . The decals are available from Chris Walsh and all his stuff is just awesome. I highly recommend. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

Decals on half of the pinto tonight . If you’re applying this set the white Mickey Thompson and the small yellow sponsor decals underneath it are very fragile, and have a tendency to break apart. I used very hot water with a couple drops of dawn dish soap. You don’t have to soak them for to long or you will run a high risk of them coming apart in the water. I’ll let this side dry for a few days before applying the decals on the other side

For some reason I always really liked this kit when I was 14 i had inherited a built one with the drag parts I tried to restore it back to stock, but ended up with a horrible orange peeled paint job. So I feel your pain you’ve got a killer paint job with a great vinyl top. The hurst equipped emblem is a really nice detail

You did a fantastic job on this. I know these t-birds very well as I took my drivers test on one . I used to take four ever just to wax the hood. I learned how to fix cars handing my dad the wrench’s. I still have a hatred for those cars

I made some good progress over the last few days the pinto chassis is well on its way . The Camaro got some decals applied today

It looks absolutely fantastic you can’t go wrong with the Sox & Martin red white and blue one of my favorite awb mopars. It looks really cool next to the afx sedan

They both look great of all the double dragster kits I sacrificed for parts over the years I’ve never built one box stock. The yellow dragster is my favorite. I still have the ones my dad built in the early sixties he said it was one of those kits you couldn’t wait to get your hands on.

The Camaro body is an early 1990’s ertl/amt reissue that I cut apart to lengthen the front end to fit the Johan chassis. I started this project 34 years ago. I put the whole project in a box and kinda forgot about it until about a month ago. Thankfully my modeling skills have been honed over the years since . So check out the pictures for the finer details

Congratulations you took what I think is a stinker of a model kit and made something really cool out of it. Where do I even start the grill the engine and headers the front axle the much improved stance . Then there’s that knock out green paint job that has me trying to figure out what I can use it on. What color blue did you use on the Virginia twister . I think that the actual car was a sedan . They all look great so far
