  1. @Michael F referenced @Johnny Canuck great photo. Even in the background there's a Mustang running those big tires. Great picture!
  2. You're very welcome! The new Round 2 release looks better out of the box. I was talking about the original release of the kit in the 70's. I was in my teens back then. I'm going to get one ordered tomorrow, Auto World has a 20% off sale for Memorial Day.
  3. I really like what you're doing with this kit. I remember building the kit when it first came out and not being happy with it. Just seemed to look toy like to me. Believe that I'll order another one. Thank you for posting this.
  4. First time that I've seen this. All I can say is that this is one incredible build. Simply amazing, such detail.
  5. In your earlier pictures of the first set of springs, I thought that they were fine. In the new comparison picture, I see exactly where you were coming from. Mark, I'm really enjoying this build.
  6. Seeing the 1:1, you've done a tremendous job!
  7. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! In addition to being a Ford blue oval junkie, I love everything Land Rover, especially old Defenders! Thank you for posting this. While not the subject of your build, this guy was parked in front of where I was eating Sunday brunch a few years ago. I about fell out of my chair.
  8. Thank you @Sonorandog, @TransAmMike, @slusher and @sflam123 for looking and for your kind comments. sflam123, I'm from east TN originally. There was one guy that had a Cougar bodied dirt car that I remember, did really well with it. In addition to the Midwest, I believe they were pretty popular in the New England area as referenced by @Dave Van photos of Dave Dion's car. While I've never been to the area, I think a few other racers up there had Cougar bodies too. I always liked them because they were different. Like was mentioned earlier, I love anything blue oval related but got tired of always seeing mustangs.
  9. I remember that kit being on the store shelves. I never purchased one as I was mainly into street cars, circle track and trucks. I can see now that I missed out.
  10. That is one great looking Dodge Demon. Well done!
  11. Great looking modified. I really like the simplicity of the paint job. Two colors, clean lines and clear numbers and sponsor decals. I'm assuming that the 1:1 is the same. Well done @Wakefan77!
  12. I will enjoy this one @bobss396. Thank you for sharing your work from the start of a project for folks like me that are returning to the hobby to see.
  13. Mark, like I've told you before, this is an amazing build. Your attention to detail and your scratch building skills are unbelievable!
  14. Well done, beautiful hearse. My youngest son and I used to talk about buying an older used 1:1 hearse to build into a hot rod.
  15. Beautiful model, that flame red really jumps off of the screen! I was a Tim Richmond fan, great driver gone too soon. I remember him coming to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway while he was on his hiatus from racing, before he quit driving. I think it was the night prior to the All American 400. Supposedly someone "stole the pace car" and was running crazy fast laps around the 5/8 mile track. For those that don't know, there's a 1/4 mile track inside the big track. Anyway, Metro Nashville P.D. gave chase to no avail. The pace car stopped at the finish line and out pops Tim Richmond. The crowd went nuts.
  16. Okay Mark, not sure how in the world I missed this but I have. So many things I should be doing this morning, but I've gone straight down a rabbit hole on this! First, your Freddie Fryer build is beautiful. I've always liked his cars. Saw him race once at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and again at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL. I'm also a Terry Labonte fan. This IROC Camaro build is amazing. Your attention to detail, all the perfectly done scratch built parts and roll cage are all just next level. You can bet money that I'll be following along. Thank you for the WIP.
  17. That's a pretty good idea, move the body from chassis to chassis. Have to agree to disagree on the next gen chassis, not going to completely hijack @bobss396 post.
  18. That would be cool! Anything would be better than this "next gen", cookie cutter body and chassis.
  19. What's the difference between a '58 and a '59? Maybe it's the angle of the shots, or more than likely it's just me but I'm not seeing it.
  20. Doggone @bobss396, you're attention to detail is amazing. I can't wait for you to get back on this one. I love all things blue oval, especially Galaxies!
  21. You're welcome for the information, we don't know what we don't know. I really need to watch that movie, always wanted to. It's kind of funny, what once was old, is new again. Way back in the early 60's when the local racer's were running those big tires, the ride height on the cars was high. Then along came the 70's and 80's when I was racing and we couldn't get our car's low enough, both dirt and asphalt. By the late 80's, dirt teams had stopped using the big tires. The the mid 90's until even now, mainly on dirt, the cars are up in the air again utilizing softer springs. When I was racing on dirt, we pitted next to a guy from Ohio at Tazewell Speedway in East TN during an NDRA race I believe. He had one of those "humpers" on his car and a few more on the trailer. I said something about them being the biggest tires I had ever seen. He schooled me on them. If some pictures pop up, I'll post them. I really like what you're doing with your car. Like everyone else, I think they do look better on smaller tires and reducing the radius.
  22. Looking great, smooth as a babies bottom!
  23. This is not to take away from this model, it's really looking good and I can't wait to see the completed build. There are pictures all over the Internet from the era showing cars with big tires much like the AMT Modified Stocker's utilized. I remember them, the nickname for those tires was "humpers", not sure where that came from. These cars were modelled from cars of an earlier time. I have to remind myself of that every time I start one (I've got them all). In later years, in dirt track racing, some of the early NDRA racer's used those oversized tires to help with stagger. I remember that well too.
  24. Good looking Ranchero. Color choice is great.
