Beautiful tribute to a beautiful car!

My son recently bought a 2003 Rubicon, and I decided to give him a diecast model of his vehicle as a gift. The closest I could come to his black on black hardtop was a Maisto Sahara TJ with a brown top and beige interior, so that's what I started with. What you see is: - 3 1/2" lift in scale, - rims repainted black and trimmed with Molotow chrome, - bare metal foil on grill, - top repainted black, - interior repainted two tone gray, - "Rubicon" decals on hood, - Subdued American flags covering Sahara logos on sides, - Steps removed from sides, - Antenna redone with piano wire. It didn't come out identical to his vehicle, but as they used to say in the old days, "it looks good from a trottin' horse".

Great job Dave! I'm like you - - - years away from the hobby, eyes and fingers don't work like they used to, but the fun is still the same! BTW; get a set of cheap jeweller's magnifiers, and the fun gets magnified 3x

What a beauty! I drove one of these working at GM at the time. It was long enough for sure, but it was also WIDE. You could be sitting in one zip code, while your passenger was in another!
