Cab, hood and visor all painted up.

Finally a day that I can lay some paint down, 4 coats, tomorrow, a light sand then two more coats, then clear.

One thing about attaching a visor, it makes me have stress, they slip when glueing, gotta scratch paint off and I hate when they slip. This is my second time pinning the visor with .047 pins. This allows me to paint everything separately then add a dab of glue with a toothpick to the holes and just snap the visor on during assembly. I will glue pins to the visor, sand flush, allow pins to only be as long as the cab thickness so to not interfere with glass.

Weather is still not worthy of painting yet so on to the interior. I have one set of high back bucket seat from Auslowe again the mild custom vision. I did pick up a PE dash/gage set, so I need to remove all the molded in stuff and check fit.

Brian, I will just paint grill surround, the PE stuff will remain silver. I saw a 900 done like that and liked the look. It also fits the mild custom vision. I have seen a full custom where the entire grill was painted, just didn’t care for that look.

The CTM grill fits the AMT KW 925 grill shell acceptable, spent a lot of time recorrecting the radius and removing the molded in KW emblem, but going with this. Headlights now fitted, and turn signal holes filled. All edges cleaned up and sanded. Grill surround will be painted body color with silver screen insert. Now to find cool turn signals and a place to mount them.

Got the grill cut out and PE grill installed, headlights need a lot of work (don’t fit in fender holes. Looks better that kit grill

Fitting resin cast flares to the hood and cleaning up. Removed the fake windshield wipers, air horn bosses on the roof, filling non utilized holes and cleaning up molding lines.

I am going with these mounts for the exhaust, got the square. Holes plugged where the exhaust was to be mounted. Now remove crappy molded in wipers, some cleanup on the cab and ready for primer.

Impressive building right there.

Did some experimenting with an exhaust mount. Problem is cab tapers in on the sides and rear tapers forward. Think I could use 123 blocks to keep them square. Think on it tonight to see if any other idea comes up.

I drove one of those trucks with a grain bed and a rear spring tag axle, got stuck everywhere. It had the 366 big block with 5 spd and 2 speed rear axle.

Did a quick mock-up to find a new problem to solve. I purchased these after market battery boxes from Truck builders model forum and they have good detail, so I want to use them but as you can see the exhaust mounting holes are not in the correct place, so need to plug those four holes and make exhaust mounts off the back of the cab. Will switch to Auslowe exhaust, which was the original plan. I can still move the fuel tanks back a bit for exhaust clearance
