Dropping the front axle makes that kit so much better looking!

Roth Surfite and Tiki hut are done and in the cabinet. Fun Cool build of a car I saw at a Clutch Artist Show in Buffalo when I was a kid. This car was also in the movie Beach Blanket Bingo. Ed Roth build the coolest customs in the 60’s. Glad I found this kit at Buffalo-Con!!!

The front tires came in the Coke 49 Plymouth. (5 bucks at Walmart)

Thx

Yes, Vega steering box! (Ran a t bucket in the early 80’s)

Finished the T-Bucket and the pickup last month. Got both from the one kit, not bad for a 10 dollar toy show grab. Love the 70’s hotrods!

Done! Hands down my favorite build yet! This is from the AMT Fruitwagon kit. Wanted to build a typical early 70’s hotrod. 1925 TBucket, 368 Lincoln Y Block motor, tangerine flame lacquer paint, aftermarket VCG Resins air cleaner and Tiki shifter, and an early 60’s NY plate. This kit came out in 1969, and I remember as a kid looking at it at in the hobby shop in Silver Creek and thinking how cool it would be to build it. Over 50 years later, I did it justice!

Silvercreeker replied to Silvercreeker's topic in Model Cars
Ooo, I like that! Didn’t think of it that way ?. It is an extra bat from my Creepy T build. -
Done! ‘29 Model T C cab pickup “Old School Rat Rod”. From AMT Fruitwagon kit. Flathead 4 cylinder, ‘32 Vicky rims with whitewall slicks, Mexican blanket interior, beer keg gas tank, fully wired and fuel lines. Red plexiglass rear window, high shifter with door knob shift knob, and a Flathead V8 that is ready for the swap if needed. And extra goodies in the milk crate.

The Moon discs are from Parts by Parks, currently available.

Done! 32 Ford Deuce. The kit was designed in 1959, this is the rerelease from ‘94, but same old design with no details. Reworked all the body seams, correct Flathead exhaust, spun aluminum Moon disc wheel covers and a bunch of details on motor including scratch built radiator. Windshield chopped scale 6”. Driver from kit reworked to have arm match level of door. Original seaweed flames, that stayed together!!! Very very old school cool!!! In the case and on the shelf!

Nice, you got the wheelbase right in the front, many of the AMT Willy's kits have the front wheels tucked back to far... Looks nice
-
Yup. Those have been save for a long time for the right build. This was the right one.

Done! 57 Ford Fairlane 500. 312 Ford Paxton supercharged motor, fully wired with all correct hoses. Full interior, red carpet, seat belts and tachometer. Custom 3D printed hood. Lowered 1/8” in front, scratch build traction bars all on Keystone Classic rims. I wanted to build a typical 70’s street racer.

Nice AMC Hornet. As a AMX racer for years in the 80's, always nice to see anything AMC!

The blue dots are paint, did not like the decals for them in the kit. The whitewalls are the decals from the kit with Vallejo Satin airbrushed over them. The brace rods are polished piano wire with ProTech nuts on both ends. The wheels are weird. I ground down the inner wheel a bit and let the lug nuts seat in the rim. I used a square to ensure the wheels were vertical on the car while the superglue set.

Retirement has its benefits. dehydrator also speeds up paint drying time.
-
The pinstripes on the red car came in the kit, the black car stripes are Gofer Racing decals.
-
I got both sets from Slixx, but that was over a year ago when i bought them. Not sure if they still make the 7-11 ones

Just over 2 weeks to build these two Model A’s at the same time. Same kits, different versions, Red is built normal with. 283 Chevy, black is built channeled with an aftermarket 354 Cadillac motor. Custom shifters, license plates, pinstripes and fully plumbed motors. Fun little hot rods.

I built a jig with 1.2.3 blocks squared up. It helped with the suspension set up and mocking process. I must have had that body on and off 20 times before everything lined up and it went to paint. The wheel well backing were a pain, made a set out of card stock and kept trimming that before cutting into the plastic. Good luck

Finished! 1963 Hasegawa VW bus. I’m a hot rod and gasser guy, but this was a fun build to recharge the batteries. Full interior with time era sign and newspaper. Curtains are covid paper masks airbrushed same color as body. Full steering too. Super fun build.
