Being an owner of a real 1960 Corvette since 1983, I too have come across those AMT models and was very disappointed in the tiny headlights. The recent AMT kits were originally MPC and much better. I have the remains of an early AMT kit my kid brother built when he was 14 or 15. He is now 65. I will be following this thread as I have 3 MPC 1960 kits to build, including the flip nose, my brother's AMT model and 4 of those multi piece Revell kits I purchased at Radio Shack in the early 1980s.

Restoration of two Monogram 1932 Ford Sport Coupes

Wow...nice fabrication and restoration skills!!! -
Thanks kindly for the update. I picked up some Krylon UV Resitant gloss today at Michaels with their Labour Day coupon for 40% off. Michaels is 2kms or a bit more from my house.

I've been dabbling in 3D modeling for close to 20 years (Wings3D, Sketchup, Hexagon 3D, Lightwave, Silo3D and now Moi3D, 3DCoat & Blender. A car is by far the hardest thing to model.

Thanks for the reply. I truly appreciate it. I have close to 100 diecasts mostly 1/18th but also 1/24th and thought I would love to scan them. And I have tried only to get a very bumpy 3D model. I've been told by the good folks at 3D Flow (3DF Zephyr) that a scan supporting lidar is the way to do. Again, I am quite green when it comes to photogrammetry. 3D scan using either my Nikon D7000 or D7100 (can't remember which I used) and 3DF Zephyr app, which I love. It was recommended I should retopologize the model in Blender, but that is a very manual intensive process. Thanks for the reply, much appreciated and sorry to the OP if I interrupted their thread.

Can I ask what make and model scanner? I've been using photogrammetry (Nikon D7100 and 3DF Zephyr) but it does not work well with the reflective surface of diecast and plastic model cars. So I am considering on purchasing a 3D scanner. Thanks kindly.

Michaels also has spray cans of Golden acrylic for $15.00 and they are larger than the Pebeo but I do not think they are water based like Pebeo. At least from reading the label.

1953 to 1962 are C1 Corvettes (First generation). Cheers

Being a C1 owner and big fan of early solid axle Corvettes, I am super impressed with your efforts. Excellent stuff...

I just found out last night after googling his name, wondering why he had not posted anything to youtube in quite some time and found out he recently passed away. Sad indeed. I will miss his videos and his humor and he always wore a Pittsburgh Pirates tee shirt and never a Steelers or Penguins tee shirt. RIP Donn...

My take on the most famous ‘55 gasser street machine’…

Awesome work! Can I ask what 3D app do you use? Is a cad app like Rhino or MOI3D? or a polygonal modeling app like Silo3D or Blender? Thanks kindly... -
Thanks kindly for all the replies. I will pickup a can of Pebeo paint from Michaels with a 30% OFF coupon or venture downtown to Deserres.
-
I believe the Deserres store used to be Loomis & Toles, on Barrington Street, Halifax, a store I would walk to when I worked in downtown Halifax.

I went into the local Michaels today in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I was looking for a paint spray can of Krylon Short Cuts Forever Blue. But there were NO Short Cuts spray paint in stock. I was told by a sales person that they were no longer carrying Short Cuts. Instead are carrying Pebeo acrylic spray paint. The label claims it is water soluble acrylique. The can looks to be a bit bigger than the Krylon Short Cuts. Cost for the Pebeo is $19.99 Canadian dollars. Anyone used Pebeo paints? What is your opinion? Thanks
