40 winks in a rambling Rambler, or better yet, a sailing yacht while rambling, roaming, meandering and exploring the world while we're still ambulatory is something I wish my wife and I had the time and money to experience

Went out on a service call to replace a steering column that another employee had diagnosed as a broken ignition rack because the ignition key would not turn. When I arrived, I verified the ignition key not turning (which is not usually caused by an ignition rack failure), broke out my trusty pocket flash light, shined it into the ignition key slot and saw a couple of lock cylinder tumblers laying inside. I keep a used ignition lock cylinder and key on my service truck for this very reason. I temporarily repaired the vehicle with the used lock cylinder and got the truck running and then returned the next day to replace the vehicle's lock set (ignition, doors, etc.). What really irks me is that the vehicle was out of service for three days and shouldn't have been out of service for more than one.

RICH GUASCOS PURE HELL FUNNY CAR...
Tim W. SoCal replied to Mothersworry's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'd sure like to see them repop some of the old Revell 1:16 scale front engine dragsters. I had the Keeling & Clayton California Charger and the Gene Snow Funny Car, both from the mid-70s, but my Mom sold them before I built them for $5.00 each in a garage sale while I was away at tech college. I'd sure like to have them again (and more, like the Beebe & Mulligan Front Engine Dragster) -

You know, Pete, that makes PERFECT sense!... I don't block spam phone calls for this reason. I'm ashamed and embarrassed that I didn't figure that out for myself...

I received an unsolicited email a couple of weekends ago informing me that I am preapproved for a HELOC of up to $200,000 and instructed me to click the included link to see my interest rate. I did, was not favorably impressed, decided that I was not interested, found and used the "unsubscribe" option and assumed I was finished with it. This was from ONE specific lender. Since then, my phone has been blowing up with computer generated calls and I've been bombarded with emails from numerous prospective lenders soliciting my business. It is well beyond the point where it is not only obtrusive and invasive, it is down right annoying.

QED, the Latin quod erat demonstrandum literally means “what was to be demonstrated,” and It is actually a transliteration of a phrase ancient Greek mathematicians placed at the end of logical proofs—a kind of stamp that says “I proved what I set out to.

Early '70s funny car question
Tim W. SoCal replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
They were typically fiberglass bodies and whether the inside was painted or just raw fiberglass depended on the weight of the finished car and the car owner's personal taste. -
What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
Tim W. SoCal replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yeah, if your package wasn't insured or sent with a request for receiver's signature upon delivery, you're pretty much screwed... HOPEFULLY, with Luis DeJoy on his way out and the current administration and DOGE breathing down the USPS's neck, things will improve in the not-too-distant future... -

Coaster brakes on our Sting Ray style bicycles were easy to lock up by slamming the pedal crank backwards, the gum-shoed friction brakes on our Ten-Speeds would overheat and melt when we raced down the small mountain located in the middle of our town.

O'clock is a phrase we don't hear used any more, and it drives me nuts to constantly hear the now common utterances like "8 a.m. in the morning"

The GT350-H Hertz Rent-A-Racers were mainly black with gold stripes, but a limited number were also produced in Sapphire Blue, Ivy Green, Candy Apple Red and Wimbledon White, all with gold stripes. One of my bucket list projects is to replicate each color, plus a "Tim's Dream Car" GT350-H in Emberglo, and another in Corvette Inferno Orange, so I have several of the Monogram / Revell '66 Shelby GT350-H kits in my stash. We just learned that AMT-Round2 is going to release their '66 Mustang in a Shelby GT350 version in the not-too-distant future. I'm curious to see how it will compare to the Monogram / Revell model kit...
