PENNILE$$ II '62 Dart Fuel Coupe
NitroMarty replied to NitroMarty's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
One step forward.... Two steps back. π It's been gorgeous here the last couple of days, so I decided step outside to shoot the color on my Dart this afternoon. Unfortunately, I got in a rush and laid down too much paint too fast, resulting in an ugly mess.... So now it's soaking in a vat of 91% to melt it all away. Lesson learned.... Hopefully the 2nd attempt will yield a better outcome. -

PENNILE$$ II '62 Dart Fuel Coupe

My wife is finally out of the hospital and at home recuperating, so I've been able to get back to work on this one.... Chassis and drivetrain are about 95% done... Am waiting for a couple of warmer less windy days, so that I can setup out in the parking lot to lay a bit color on the body. -
Just finished up a great trade with kymdlr... The Chevy looks great Ron!!!! Thanks

Actually I did receive 12 months. Payments defer to five months after the date of becoming disabled. I did splurge a bit and ordered a new cordless Dremel tool.... The truth is that most of the money will go toward catching up on a few things that have gotten behind.

After over 18 months of trying I was finally approved for disability. Gives us some much needed breathing room.

Dang it!!!!! Sure wish I'd seen this earlier! LOL

My oldest surviving build, from roughly 1976 (l would have been 15 years old)... AMT Street Rod Series 1959 El Camino, built as an early 60's custom. Heavily inspired by the style of the Alexander Bros. It's showing it's age now, but was really something back in the day. Somewhere along the line the '59 Caddy taillights, dual custom antennas, and most of the chrome micro stripe tape chrome bed trim have gone missing. I entered the model in the 1979 NSRA Street Rod Nationals model contest, and won 1st place in class with it.

Though I've started quite a few wagons through the years, I have only managed to finish a handful... My oldest surviving wagon is this Firebird that I built sometime around 1983/84... It's a kitbash of Airfix and Monogram kits. This AWB Nomad dates back to the late 1990's. Dyno Don Super Stock Comet, built in the early 2000's. Finally, from 2007, Allison V12 powered '59 Ford exhibition racer.... A marriage of the Allison Thunderland kit and Flintstone resin body.

I bought one from the consignment shelf at my LHS a couple of years ago. Payed $30 for it.

Did you get my response to your message?

I'm in Dixon (IL)... About 100 miles east of the Chicago and just over 20 miles southwest of Byron. -

I also recognize the newer pics as being taken at Byron... About a twenty minute drive from my home and the track where I now spent my summers watching races. -

Union Grove, in the 70's... I may have seen that car run. My cousin used to race there and took me with him several times each summer. -
I would be interested in lot 3

Diecast is cool, but honestly I've just gotten to the point where I'd much rather display stuff that I actually built.... 1/24 scale John Force Superman and Elvis funny cars. Thought that I remembered these as being Action, but the chassis are simplified and are stamped Hasbro. No boxes. 1/18 scale Ertl Muscle Machines Summit Racing 1969 Camaro. Roof is signed by the driver, but I received this as a gift years ago and no longer remember who that was. LOL π Action 1/9 scale Vance & Hines Harley Davidson drag bike with separate detachable wheelie bars. No Box Looking to trade for drag car and hot rod kits or resins... Or pretty much anything in the way of 60's and 70's American cars... What do you have cool to trade?

PENNILE$$ II '62 Dart Fuel Coupe
NitroMarty replied to NitroMarty's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
With the hassle of the holidays finally behind us, I was actually able to get a few minutes of bench time today... Have the chassis about 95% squared away, with front suspension in place and the differential from the Garlits' Wynn's Jammer adapted to to fit... Pretty much just need to wrap up the steering equipment. The Dodge Hemi from the Garlits' kit is also just about wrapped up as well.... Once the chassis and drivetrain are out of the way, it will be time to get the body ready for paint... And then a long wait for warmer temps, so I can start painting in the parking lot again. π EDIT: I have since fixed the front plug wire! -
All great builds, but the Porsche is incredible!

1972 AMC Matador Woodie Station Wagon
NitroMarty replied to RACINE ISHRAQUR RAZA's topic in Model Cars
I can't stop looking at this build. It's a wagon. It's an AMC product. It's just plain cool.... It really just presses all the right buttons for me. -
Thanks!!! Wait 'til you see some of the stuff that I have dreamt up for future builds. π
