Beautiful work Justin. Great paint and that interior- wow!

I really admire the effort and dedication that goes into producing models like this. Nice work.

Thanks for the positive comments all. Actually had a near disaster with this model: when it was about 90% complete butter-fingers me dropped it on a hard tile floor and guess how it landed? Square on the right hand tail fin. Flattened it like I'd taken to it with a hammer! Aaagh! Fortunately was able to straighten it out without a total repaint but it is a bit less square than it should be and of course I had to reshape the left tail fin to match.......

Nice work Tony. This is a great kit with it's build options and box full of extra parts. One of my AMT favorites for sure.

Real modeling talent to produce both these cars. Excellent job!

I was thinking of tapering off the bottom edge between the wheel arches to match the side trim on mine but chickened out at the thought of maybe making things look worse. Like you say, some things you just have to live with.

Incredible, precise work here! Love it.

Supposed to be original factory Snowcrest White over Gothic Gold but the gold seems a little too 'coppery' so we'll call it a custom colour! Chrome trim is a combination of Molotow and kitchen foil stuck down with craft PVA, then trimmed like BMF. Tried a little experiment with this: though a recent issue (Original Box Art Series) it surprisingly has no instrument dials on the decal sheet. Not a problem with the smaller ones, but that big speedo on the 59 is really obvious if you mess it up. So I photoshopped a photo of the full size down to 1/25, printed it, cut it out and stuck it on with PVA. Turned out much better than I hoped. Another AMT kit that faults aside, gives me all the reasons to be one of their biggest fans. BTW, that tailgate does open, I just forgot to take a pic of it!

Beautiful- great paint, trim and overall finish. A joy to look at!

Good luck with this one James- you'll enjoy it. I built a stock version recently and fell in love this kit. Like Bob, I have a second one too which I'll do as a competition version. Not familiar with this Coke issue- does it have other decals or just the box art ones?

Beautiful job. Very sharp!

Lot of fiddly but worthwhile work here Greg. From what I can see the 53 (aside from engine) is essentially the same kit as the 55 and one really obvious fault with that is it sits too high when completed- especially at the front. When you get to chassis/wheels you'll see what I mean and will also find it's fairly easy to rectify so your plan to trial/dry fit is a wise one. I did the 55 a while back and need to go back and re-do it. It'll make a big difference.

Thanks David. I probably spent more time on the headlights than any other part of the car. Enlarging them and reshaping the body around them to make the stick out more helped a lot.

Yeah, I know the old AMT doesn't hold a candle to the much newer Revell kit, but I still believe with a bit of love, dedication and a ton of patience, a reasonable model can result (plus you get fun build options!). To compare the quality and accuracy difference of the two kits, check out Greg's recent post of his excellent Revell build:

Thanks for those tips Andy.

I hear yah Bob. It's one of those kits that you're glad you managed to finish but wouldn't try building a second one.

Nice work Tony. Yes, the figure sits on the car very well indeed! ?

This is pretty cool! Nice work Dave.

Thanks Dave. Paint is my usual home brew of craft acrylics thinned for airbrush with Windex (blue window cleaner) with floor polish clear over the top.
-
Challenging! The rear I carefully trimmed to fit with it glued (clear PVA) to the edges. Front went in from the inside as normal. Neither are 100% with small gaps that can be seen but not too obvious.

Killer paint! Excellent work.

I always appreciate well done stock builds. Excellent work!

Fantastic work Louis. And thanks for explaining those red headlight covers!
