Funny thing is that General Motors themselves had a similar thought process. Except in that case, it was a Firebird with a Ferrari V12 stuffed into it. The Pontiac Pegasus, something I still find hard to believe was made.

Turning Gold Chrome to Regular Chrome ?
T-Ray replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I hope this is relevant. I'm making an assumption that the way Mattel makes Hot Wheels is applicable to model chrome. -
Anybody know whets up with George Klass ?

If you have the URL, you can try the Internet Archive to see if they have a capture. Just give "Wayback Machine" a google -
WARNING! Not all 1/25 scale is equal.
T-Ray replied to WillyBilly's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I can't help but wonder if the Stranger Things Blazer was scanned off a real truck, hence the differences between that and the Deserter. Maybe I'm wrong on that one. If that is how the industry is working these days, models become more and more exact could be an issue when kit bashing with older and less perfect models of the same car. -
I'm building the same kit in coincidentally the same color as a Demolition Man Cutlass and I just have to say, WOW! I hope mine looks 1/10th as good as yours

Bronco II Kit - does such a thing exist?
T-Ray replied to Jonathan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
On Explorers, it seems like the only people that made an Explorer in a scale that wasn't weird (I.E. 1/20) were AMT. They gave us not one but two second gen Explorers which may or may not be useful to the original poster's needs. Also, how did AMT justify having two toolings for a frankly boring SUV in their line-up? -
Is there an archive out there somewhere of the old Street Rodder magazines with the Modeler's Corner section? Admittingly, I am just curious what was in them. Thanks

Hi, how do you do custom pinstriping? Let's take a Trans Am SE for example, the pinstripes that go all over the car are very thin on the 1:1 car and at 1:25 scale, they would be extremely tiny to paint on. The only way I could see doing it is if you had decals for the pinstripes but if you don't have those, I can't see any other way around it. That being said, how would you do this?

I'm sorry for bumping an old thread but where did you get that Left hand drive Dash from? Thanks

Monogram's 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept Car: WIP
T-Ray replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
Because of this thread, I fell down a rabbit hole of trying to find the "true" color of the Futura and frankly, I have no idea. My best guess is an extremely light green, almost white? Some pictures it looks white, others white with a little green, others are fully seafoam green. Also, unrelated to paint color, I realized how little George Barris changed from the Futura to the Batmobile. That being said, you probably could convert the Polar Lights Batmobile back into the Futura.. Only question would be what Ford to use for the chassis. Rambling aside, Car looks great! -

Thanks! Thanks! The color is actually cheap Acrylic Artist paint. The only problem I have with it is because it's so cheap, it feels like it takes 1000 coats to get that nice, deep Maroon over the red primer. -
Looking at that thing, I can't help but see some Karmaan Ghia in the roof and trunk area. Maybe my eyes are biased though.

40 Ford Sedan Delivery
T-Ray replied to T-Ray's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Sorry for lack of updates, I spent some time away from the bench. Now that I'm back, more progress has been made The engine's been put together Chassis's been painted The wheels have been painted and installed in some blackwalls from the AMT '57 Chevy. (Am I the only one who thinks a van like this probably wouldn't have had white-walls when it was in regular commercial service?) Frame's beginning to take shape Preview of the body color, it's a nice wine color in real life Made a new steering column because I was both disappointed with the stock one... and I broke it Lastly, I painted all the bits in the interior and installed "carpeting" on the cargo floor. -

Sounds like I'm in for a double challenge! The kid shaved the center hood trim off so I got a hood from a glue bomb Three Stooges van. Surprisingly, the fit isn't too bad for the two being forty years apart. -

Day 2: I primed a lot of small stuff, wheels and wheel backs, dash, etc I filled in the taillight holes, I think they need spot putty though Painted the engine and I am VERY happy with how it came out Lastly, I tried putting magnets in the spare tire panel as a way of attaching the hatch without glue -
I bought this kit from a swap meet for $5 and let me tell you, it feels weird building a kit from (and started in) 1974. It even had a tube of glue from the time! I don't know what the kid was going for when he started, but I'm gonna finish it as a stock panel. Day 1: This is about as far as he got... Glued the heads on Glued the seat together And lastly, there's the seams in the front and the (wrong) taillights in the back that I took care of

Another update: Gauges painted Interior tub assembled (I really hate the stock wheel in this kit) And the air and oil filter assembled. Yes, I know the air filter is not accurate for a car, I couldn't figure out a good way to replicate it. I also replaced the master cylinder for a part that I have no idea where it came from but it looked better than the comically undersized one that comes with the kit.

This project is not dead! The body was stripped, repainted, cleared and here it is getting ready to touch up some troubled spots in the clear. The engine has been partially assembled Rear has been installed in the chassis Wheels and backs painted Lastly, here are the wheels mounted in the tires from the AMT '50 Chevy truck

I hate to be a pain but I think Volkswagen's "Pearl White" name is really misleading. From what I can tell, Herbie is an off-white kinda like Wimbleton White, as opposed to white with pearl.

Ah, Vectors! I was thinking something like that. Thanks
