73-74 Cuda stripes
Moparman18064 replied to Moparman18064's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is what kit looks like. I figured I could just go online and get a good picture of a Cuda, but it would have to be Plum Crazy to match or a white car with the stripe due to using clear decal paper. Every picture I find is at an angle or has shadows in the stripe. This is why I am reaching out. -
Hi, anybody have the stripes from either the AMT 73 Cuda Snap Tite or the ERTL 74 Promo car they could take a good picture of so I can make a decal. I want to replicate my last Cuda( in my avatar). I would very much appreciate it.

You nailed it again. Looks great Scott!

It’s too bad, I hope another platform opens up for all the resin casters that were on there. It was a great way to get custom stuff( though pricey).
-
Roger, you nailed the stance! Good luck on the move, looking forward to welcoming you to the hot South. It’s been so hot and dry here for the last month. All my grass is turning brown.
-
I hope you do get your grille. If you didn’t know, Shapeways shut down and filed bankruptcy. This is looking great Scott. I used to follow every update on that car as they published it.

I have the Revell hood, it does not fit my MPC Cuda. I could trim it, but scoops seem to be out of proportion. I had one of the snap kits, but it seems to have been lost during last move. The decals would be over 20 years old at this point. I was looking for someone making them currently. Thank you for the reply. Sorry, not trying to hijack thread. I am really looking forward to this build.

Great thread, I’m really glad to see the Revell chassis works. I want to replicate the Cuda I have in my avatar. Engine looks great. Now, if I could only find the twin scoop hood and 73-4 stripes

That gold looks great on that body.

Thank you Thank you

Little update, installed headlight lenses backed with Molotow for realism. I started fitting windows. For the front, I am using the one from 71 Demon kit. For the rear, one from Demon kit will not work due to the extensive mods to trunk/ window area. I filed and sanded one from 71 Duster kit and test fitted with chassis/ interior. I also installed tail lights and back up lenses.

New Project – Revell 1969 Camaro Pace Car

Nice, good to see someone else doing the smog system. I am in the middle of doing this for the replica of my father’s 68 RS/SS L89. It is a shame no one has made these. After seeing yours, my manifold tubes are crude, now I will have to remake them. What did you use to make them? I used solder and stainless wire. This is looking really good. -
I just saw this. Wow, beautiful build!

Thank you Roger

Looking sweet Roger! Thanks for the heads up on the grilled from Few Sprues Loose. I got 4 of them!

I’ve been really busy with real life things, so progress has slowed considerably. While trying to get resin headers to fit, I ran into a whole slew of issues. I did manage to get grilled that I ordered from Few Sprues Loose. I got 2 72 Demon, a 71 Demon, a 70 Duster grille. I started detailing the 72 grille for this build. This is a really nice product. Note: scoop is not angled, just an optical illusion from camera angle

I was not at all happy with the seats. I ground everything down and reconfigured with half round. After a bunch of shaping, filing, sanding, they are now passable. I now have an interior.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!! Enzo would be proud.

Wow! The black paint is spectacular!

Thanks Roger, I will be getting one for my build also! Front end solution looks really good, glad it worked out.

Wicked color! It looks awesome. More please!

’72 Dodge Demon Drag Racer 1/25 scale
Moparman18064 replied to AmericanMuscleFan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Beautiful! I’ll take one in 8 3/4 version, you are taking orders, right?? I can’t wait to see what is next. Keep it up Francis, there is so much more for us to learn from your expertise! -
When they retooled this kit, they should have eliminated the console, or make it optional. A bodies dropped having consoles for 4 speeds at the end of 1969. I wonder if you carefully sliced the decal where the wood grain meets the gauge if it would lay in there better. It might be too brittle now though. I will have to keep that in mind when I build one of mine. What color orange is that? In some of the pics it almost looks like vitamin c.

Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with this one Roger. When I look up all the shots I could find on the car, the only one that you could see any of the front end is in the fire burnout one, where it looks like the k frame or whatever he had under there looks like it was 1-2” off the ground. Even when the front wheels are in the air, it doesn’t look like the wheels drop much, if any. It is hard to tell if he was running 14 or 15 inch wheels on the front when they were not Centerlines. It does appear that the fronts were tucked up really close to aprons. One of the underhood shots I found, he had aluminum panels hiding all the apron and radiator support areas. Maybe he did raise them on the horizontal surfaces. There is a guy on FB that replicated the car, with info from Stepp’s daughter. He might have a clue. I wish I had answers.
