SOX & MARTIN 1980-81 DODGE OMNI PRO STOCK
Maurice Henderson replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Mike, Outstanding job..I'm definitely a Sox & Martin guy..Using the snap kit as a starting point is not something most guys will think about..I have the 1965 Coronet snap kit that I plan to build into either a Stock or Super Stock build..The paint, fit and finish is really nice..This build is what modeling is all about when your creative juices flow..Job well done my friend. -
Zippi, that engine is on fire my friend..I love how you paint the tranny and left the pan home..Nice element to the build..Can't wait to see the finished product.

Jeg Coughlin 67 Bracket racing Nova Wagon
Maurice Henderson replied to Maurice Henderson's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Good Evening Forum Just an update on my Jeg Coughlin 67 Nova build..Basically done with the interior tub and roll cage..Engine, enginebay, body and rear end still work in progress..Mocked it up just to see what changes I would need to accomplish...Enjoy and comment. -
I just remembered the name of the club, it was Rhonda's Gas House!!!
-
Believe it or not, when I was in the military, me and my x-wife would attend this club in West Covina California that I can't recalled the name back in the 80s..The club was owner was Gas Rhonda..I got the nerve to ask him if was Gas Rhonda and he confirmed it..He had pictures of all his race cars in the club..We talked every time I came to club and sometimes would get in free..He problem had 10 pics of the white Mustang and Red Gasser Mustang everywhere..I know Gas would be very proud of your rendering of his car.

My friend, what a really outstanding build..When I look at it, it takes me back to Lions dragstrip and the days of the Gasser wars all through the Midwest tracks..You really hit it out the park!!!
-
Sir, your model is outstanding..That is definitely something different..I've seen a Volvo 850 at Drag Week it was bad like your build..That is unique as well thought out. If you disassemble this beauty put a big honking hemi..My friend you hit this out the park!!!

You're correct sir, I fat fingered the title. I ment to type 67 -
Good Evening Forum This is a build I have been working on for a year..I started with the 66 Nova chassis an the 67 Chevelle engine..I scratch build the bed and the roll cage using the 67 Chevelle as a starting point..Wheels are part box, the hood has a aftermarket 6"cowl hood. Paint will be Tymia Matt black with an aluminum tub painted with TS-17. The body is a resin piece that spent hours getting into shape and probably still have some work to do. The one thing about the interior is there are not a lot of pictures for it..I don't have Facebook or Instagram and don't want them..Hopefully next month at the Dallas NHRA race I ask Jeggie where I can get some pics.

AMT (2018 re-release) 72 Chevy Nova Pro Stocker
Maurice Henderson replied to Mile High Scale Modeler's topic in Drag Racing
Great looking Nova my friend..I have a couple of these kits and I don't want to deal either with front clip..After seeing what you did, I can see my vision for a build..I love the rear stance you came up with..Gonna steal that won from you..Again great build. -
Really nice looking T-bird..The color is beautiful and detail, fit & finish are outstanding..Sir, you knocked it out the park!!!
-
What a beautiful paint job..Bro your 57 paint stand out really good..This is one of the best 57 Chevy Funny Cars builds I have ever seen..You should pat yourself on the back for this one..Outstanding job my friend.
-
I think it's 1/24 scale because I have this die cast plus 3 other Don Schumacher Funny Cars that Whit Bazmore drove for him..The detail is the same on all my die cast..I have about 40 Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stocks in my collect..My good friend and fellow Air Force veteran Fast Jack Beckman drove for Schumacher and now is driving John Force's car.

Burch Leal's 71 Duster & Billy the Kid Pro Stock Demon

I used the Dart because, I wanted that old school look of the leaf springs setup that the 60/70 Super Stocks & Pro Stocks had. -
Burch Leal's 71 Duster & Billy the Kid Pro Stock Demon
Maurice Henderson replied to Maurice Henderson's topic in Drag Racing
Thanks for the tip M W..I was frustrated as hell with those decals..There was a problem with all of them. I always use hot water because that's what my older brother taught me..On the 3rd set, I tried using the roof decal and it disintegrated on me, so I painted the hood. -

I don't know what your looking at, but the wheel is not on backwards.. -
Good Afternoon Forum Here are two of my latest builds 1st up is the Leal car Started with the AMC Duster..Back halfed it with Hemi Dart rear frame..It has Texas 3D custom Hemi..3 sets of Slixx decals..When I say these decals were the death of this build, that would be an understatement..They just kept breaking on me as soon as I put them in water..Aftermarket hood and Fenton wheels..I did paint it Poppy Seed Red in which I bought a can on ebay..This build fought me every step of the way and I was just go really tired of dealing with it..It's not my best work, but I'm ok with that. This car almost got sent flying through the house to become pieces Billy the Kid I had a 72 resin demon, but it was warped beyond repair..So I got a 71 kit and made the best of it..I took the hemi from the 76 Dart kit, added the Slixx decals and here you go. The decals on this kit were not as bad, problems still. Aftermarket Fenton rear wheels and fronts came from the parts box..The hood scoop is from the 67 Chevelle and my left thumb is still numb as hell!!!
-
M W, you are so right about Slixx..I'm currently building my version of the Butch Leal Duster..I've gone through 3 sets of decals from Slixx because they just come apart in water.. I hope to have my build for the forum to see in the next couple of days. Btw, your build turned out really good..I would've never thought to use the tunnel ram from 66 Nova.
-
Dave, Welcome to the forum..The color on this Nova is outstanding..I think you did an outstanding job of coming up the scheme of the build..Very nice job my friend.
-
Zippi, that color is truly a 70's gasser look..Man it's beautiful..Stance is perfect and that engine stands out..Outstanding job my friend. Btw, I notice you were in the Air Force and from Illinois? I is so, I'm retired AF and from Chicago.
-
Nice looking build..I happen to know David Reher very good..He built a 784 cubic inch Nitrous motor for the race team I'm with Top Sportsman Camaro..He would be very proud of your rendering of their car..I built a model of it a couple of years ago and like it.
-
Scott, your Duster looks really good..I was planning on doing Reids car myself..Once I finish my Butch Leal Duster, it will be one of my new projects..That hemi engine of yours looks freakin outstanding..What color of gold did you paint yours?
-
Hey Scott, Really nice build on this one..I'm have one on bench right now I'm building..It's the Billy the Kid demon..I had a 72 from Competition Resins but it was warped as hell..So when this 71 Demon kit came out, I'm using it..That Hemi in yours looks freakin crazy, but accurate because they used 2 spark plug per cylinder as McCandless said in his YouTube video..Another great build my friend...Maurice
-
Sir, your build is sick as hell!!! One of the best builds I have ever seen..The detail is phenomenal..Pat yourself on the back about this one..I hope you take it to model shows, because this is definitely a best of show award winner!!
