  1. Gary,,,is the build of the General on here ???
  2. Yeah,it was worth it in the long run ,, one side of the cab was twice as thick as the other! lol
  3. When I got that cab from ebay and opened the box I was ready to toss it ! It was bad
  4. I posted this build I did in the Welcome! Introduce Yourself thread when I first joined . I thought I would move it over here . I based it on AMT's Ford Louisville kit and a resin Dodge D-700 crewcab I found on Ebay. I used the frame from the AMT kit and stretched it and used the kits front and rear axle. I used the engine out of the Lindberg Dodge L-700 to represent the 413 Dodge truck engine. I added the air brake compressor from the V-8 Cat from the Ford kit for the air brakes.Scratchbuilt the fuel tanks from Plastruct diamond plate .I used and modified the interior parts of MPC's 78 Dodge pickup .That resin cab was pretty rough and wonky ,thought it came out decent. The Roadrunner is an AMT kit I did about 30 years ago. I included a picture of the truck I loosely based it on
  5. ..............working on the PTO/PTO shaft/PTO Jackshaft, drive gear and chain , towbar pinned in place ,cobbled up some Holmes mudflaps ,painted the rubber fender extensions ,Autocar PE on the butterfly hood,,,,,, winch cables have to be cut to length yet,,just have the extra balled up for now
  6. .......................and yeah,thats an F8 Green 69 Coronet R/T ,,,,, work in progress
  7. ,,,,,decaled the body and clearcoated ,,,mounted lightbar and made a HOLMES 750 plate for the mast ,finished outrigger chains ,,,waiting for the snow ,glad I dont have to get up and go to work anymore ?
  8. Looks great!!! I aways liked the snub nose look . All the years of working on trucks ,and a lot of corn binders,,I never saw a 4300 with the IH V-8 ,,usually a Detroit or Cummins .. they make for a sweet looking wrecker
  9. ....................shot the red,,,,,,,,,safety striping came out pretty good,I expected more bleed thru under the tape ,,,,,,, more do-dads on the mast.fabbed up outrigger chains and hooks . I forgot to cut the holes in the back for the Scotch Block chains,I may still do that.........today I plan on decaling the body and possibly shooting the clear
  10. ..............and I guess MPC called it "close enough ! " lol ?
  11. I guess the question is what version of the car are you building ? The NASCAR version would use the Hemi/single 4bbl/and the air cleaner that draws in air from the cowl
  12. ................I'll need a 6V-53 Detroit and an MT640 Allison to go along with that cab please ?
  13. The NASCAR Hemi engine had a single 4 barrel carb on what they called a "bathtub" intake manifold here is a pic of a 64 Plymouth with one
  14. Nice job,,, I have to get one of those C-cab Ford kits or should I say Budd cab Ford kits ? I worked on enough of them back in the day.
  15. Thats a NASCAR air cleaner,,it pulled in air from the cowl
  16. I remember selling them when I worked at the Hess station for $1.69 with the batteries ,,,, but then again we also sold leaded 101 octane @.29 cents a gallon ?
  17. .............cabling the boom ,, the way the mast assembly was 3D printed you can't run the cable correctly as the 1:1 Holmes ,,but it will fly.I will do a bit of black and rust wash on it when completed
  18. This was my 1st big truck build after getting back to building a few years ago,,,,,basic AMT Fruehauf tanker trailer and basic AMT White Road Boss with the exception of an Auslowe 8V-71 Detroit Diesel . I worked at the Hess station in Rockaway N.J. while I was in high school ,, Winters Trucking hauled for Hess and I can remember them having Whites ,,,,may have been 9000's not Road Bosses ,,,my memory on that is foggy.I took these pics in my display case ,,the lighting is not that great
  19. Progress report...... shot the back of the body yellow for the safety striping ,,worked on the lightbar and some other bits
  20. That thing looks great! .......... all it needs is a Tachograph ? Nice job!
