I've used the pliers and adjustable wrench on the Testor's square jars. Never had one break, luckily. I have broken the plastic lid from a Tamiya jar. Just an annoyance since it won't seal afterwards! Ziplock bag helped to slow the inevitable drying-up of the paint.
A good idea is to wipe the top of the jar of wet paint before putting the lid back on. I believe it is usually dried paint that causes the issue of a stuck lid.
One thing that very few scale models have ever accurately represented...weight. I'd be very surprised if any modeller of any subject would want accurate weight in a kit!!
This has been an interesting thread to read through. Thank you all for contributing.
Excellent question indeed...I don't have an answer for you!!
Personally, it has to look right overall to my eye. Sometimes "close enough" is good enough for me if it is for my enjoyment. An example would be a particular kit that I built as a kid and wanted to build again. I don't care if it's right...it's nostalgia. Whole different ballgame if I'm building a replica of a specific 1:1 and want it to be right. I don't build many of those!
Check out Factory Five Racing...they sell 1:1 kits (Cobra, 65 Coupe, 33 Ford, etc)...the bodies are plastic, they come in a big box and you have to assemble it yourself or have someone assemble it for you, too!!
Nice! When growing up, my parents had a 67 Falcon 2 door for a while...also with the 6! (It was originally white with blue interior and was painted T-Bird blue at some point for some reason!)
