  1. I too do not like the trends in wheels/tires these days. 22" hoops with rubber band tires just look ridiculous to my eye on anything. But it's all a matter of taste. Anyone remember the monochrome paint jobs of the 80's?
  2. I agree, what's the big deal? Unless it's the conspiracy by Gregg and Harry to rule the world?

Nicely done. Just the right amount of detail without going overboard. I like it!
  4. I've got an old TV repairman's tool box made from wood, top clamshells out with trays/compartments for tools, glues, etc. I'll see if I can get a pic.
  5. I knew a 'good old boy' would have the answer. Thanks Tommy. I wasn't sure if maybe Junior painted all his engines some color to make them stand out?
  6. The hinges, while not great, are not that bad. Just take your time because they are tiny and fragile! Wow, I look at this now (old build) and realize I didn't foil the vent windows. Shame on me...
  7. Found this on Randy Ayers board. You're right Ken, black interiors. Must have been an oven in there!
  8. LOL. My grandsons (5 & 2) are allowed to drool on the display case, but not get inside. When they're a little older and show some interest, I've got plenty enough in the stack to keep them busy.
  9. That appears spot-on to my eye, but I do wear glasses
  10. Thanks guys. Any ideas on the engine? Was it unpainted aluminum block & heads? I doubt they were Chevy red.
  11. Looks black to me.
  12. Thanks Jacen. I've got some vintage stock car books as well but apparently interior shots weren't very popular!
  13. My only goal is to make the next one better than the last one. Each one teaches me something, whether its a new technique or honing a skill. I'm not always successful but that's what I shoot for. To set an arbitrary number of completions seems to me to be self-defeating. I rushed to finish when I was a kid, now it's more about the journey. (Kumbayah)
  14. Yeah, I would think black wouldn't work so well. Red sounds more plausible. Where do you go for reference photos? I did a Google image search but didn't find anything with an interior shot.
  15. My latest project is Cale Yarborough's #11 Holly Farms Laguna owned by Junior Johnson. Does anyone know what color the interior was in this car? The typical 'gloss gull gray' as in later cars or were they doing something different in 1976? I'm also searching for the proper orange shade for the car. I've got a can of Krylon called 'John Deere yellow' that looks reasonably close? Any comments/suggestions welcome!
  16. That's pretty cool (no pun intended)! I didn't know they made El Caminos in '62?
  17. Back in '52 I imagine they went with whatever was on the car, but then again Petty blue was a mix of what they had in the shop at the time
  18. Go to TCPGLOBAL.com, auto color library. Plug in make/year and you get color chips for factory paint. I go there to research period correct colors for stock builds. After that you can prowl the LHS or hardware store aisles for something close.
  19. Nice builds. Looks like you had a good year.
  20. What a good year! Especially like the Super Bee. All those cold winter nights must give you plenty of modelling time.
  21. Very nice job, love the mods.
  22. Just enough to make it look like a daily driver, but not Dr. Cranky-ised! Nice job.
  23. Finish with a bang, leave them wanting more! Great job.
  24. Dr. Cranky will love this. Great job.
  25. Duh, if I'd read the thread title!
