    #48 Lowes

OK, so I'm not a big JJ fan at all. I'm afraid he's been stinking up the circuit for awhile now. But give the devil his due, you don't get to be a 5 time champ by being a chump! And I guess I need this car in my collection for that reason. This is the first (and probably only) AMT snapkit that I've built. Went together pretty well with some tips I've seen on this and other boards. I may have to pick up one of the newer AMTkits, that wing is just awful. Maybe do a Carl Edwards car if he can pull it off this year? Thanks for looking.
  2. I read first. Someone else may have already said what you're thinking.
  3. WOW! Love that blue Buick. The Merc ain't bad.

    My Nascars

I'm in Woodbury, towards the Kingdom. Smoke is my favorite too, ever since he smacked that cameraman. I've been to the Glen, Dover, Louden, and Richmond. Bristol someday! You shop online or go to a store I don't know about?
  5. One more vote for an Airflow. Oh and any year Packard, there's an American brand that's gotten no love through the years. Also i can't help but believe any year Cadillac from the '30's up through to today wouldn't be a winner. But I think I'm in love with Steve's 300

    My Nascars

Very nice. Mark Martin fan? I'm in VT too. Been to Louden? Hope to see some more of your work.
  7. It seems to be a good time to be in the hobby. With the tanking economy, more folks are staying home and playing. I'm excited by the buzz. The Hudsons, '50 Olds, and '57 Ford in particular but then I'm an old fart.
  8. Great looking car! Mark's always been a favorite, always a bridesmaid-never the bride.
  9. This is why I prowl this forum. What a great thread!
  10. Martinfan5 said younger modelers get left out, and he's right. I can understand and sympathize, but what car out today would get kids juices flowing? I myself have no idea. Everything you see on the road today is a jellybean where you can't tell a Toyota from a Hyundai from a Nissan from a Honda. We older folks want and build what we lusted for as teens, what do teens today lust for? I see the entire auto industry going away in my children's and grandchildren's lifetimes as they all get around in transport 'pods' of some type that do all the work, you punch in your destination and sit back and play with your iphone until you get there. Would anyone buy a kit of a Subaru or Kia?
  11. I don't know if they're worth anything, but they're great kits! Well detailed, 3 different size tires, full tube frame, I enjoyed building them. The back tires make great pro-street meats.
  12. Amazing! Very well done. Engine detail is just right. Leave the vent window, we used to run like that on hot days, 2-70 air conditioning (roll down both windows and go 70mph)
  13. What's the difference if you are in the construction business and your kid gets killed by a bulldozer? Tragedy is just that.
  14. Plane crashes, while tragic, don't have the same effect as a fatality on the race track (except for the air race fatality recently). We take for granted these days how "safe" racing anything from go-carts to Funny Cars is but the danger is part of the attraction for spectators and participants alike. The footage of the Indycar crash in Vegas was both horrifying and riveting. Drivers know every time they go on the track what could happen, and maybe they are narcissistic adreline junkies, but so are we. I salute anyone with the fortitude to go out there and risk life and limb for our entertainment. They earn those big (and not so big) paychecks IMHO.
  15. This is a tough one. Where's the line between a suede custom and a rat? Slightly weathered versus junkyard dog? A racecar on the pace lap versus in the garage at Bristol after some "rubbing"? There are many shades of gray (no pun intended). I think it boils down to the contest and where the judges feel comfortable/knowledgable.
  16. Hudson mania indeed! Could you have chosen a tougher subject? I'm following with great interest, and best of luck
  17. Outstanding job! Great looking replica of an obscure subject. Where do you get reference pics for old USAC rigs?
  18. Just finished today, first one I've completed for awhile. Monogram, kit decals. I hate the large 1-piece decals for the sides, but it does go quicker. The nose was particularly hard to lay down, lots and lots of Solvaset! Darrell Waltrip running for Junior Johnson back in the '80's. Comments welcome. I'm always looking to learn something new.
  19. Way too pretty for a dirt car Nice job!
  20. The 1967 STP/Granitelli Indianapolis turbine car. I think it was MPC or IMC, in 1/20 scale. I saw the real thing at time trials back in the day. It was really weird when the others went roaring by and then just a "whoosh" of that day-glo red machine going by. I had it and built it when I was a hack 14 yr old slapping them together as fast as possible. Sure would like another crack at it!
  21. Excellent job. Great looking paint and clean detailing. Sharp!
  22. Awesome job! TV Tommy was one of the greats and you've done him justice.
  23. Put me down for one or two of each! These are all right in my wheelhouse (age 57). I wasn't interested in fins and 4 doors when I was 10, but I sure am now

  25. "Chrome" headlights molded to the grille. Hard to make convincing.
