Vintage NASCAR Find
bbowser replied to jlstew25's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Great find! I've got both of these but haven't got around to them. Have fun! -
Love it. Very clean build. Nice color choice.

Too cool for skool, man! Great job.

I too usually don't like hoops, but they look great on this. Excellent job!

Another great build, Mark. I love your choice of subjects and the execution is flawless. Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming! -

Yeah, I grit my teeth paying $22 at the local hobby shop for a snap kit, but support the local economy, right? -
Favorite Online Store
bbowser replied to VooDooCC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I buy primarily from Model Roundup when I buy online. Great guy to work with, excellent service. -
I hate you! (just kidding). I can't put an engine together in 3 days. Nice job, love the subject.

OK, so I'm not a big JJ fan at all. I'm afraid he's been stinking up the circuit for awhile now. But give the devil his due, you don't get to be a 5 time champ by being a chump! And I guess I need this car in my collection for that reason. This is the first (and probably only) AMT snapkit that I've built. Went together pretty well with some tips I've seen on this and other boards. I may have to pick up one of the newer AMTkits, that wing is just awful. Maybe do a Carl Edwards car if he can pull it off this year? Thanks for looking.

I read first. Someone else may have already said what you're thinking.

I'm in Woodbury, towards the Kingdom. Smoke is my favorite too, ever since he smacked that cameraman. I've been to the Glen, Dover, Louden, and Richmond. Bristol someday! You shop online or go to a store I don't know about? -

One more vote for an Airflow. Oh and any year Packard, there's an American brand that's gotten no love through the years. Also i can't help but believe any year Cadillac from the '30's up through to today wouldn't be a winner. But I think I'm in love with Steve's 300 -

Very nice. Mark Martin fan? I'm in VT too. Been to Louden? Hope to see some more of your work. -
What is everyones opinion on the I-Hobby announcements?
bbowser replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It seems to be a good time to be in the hobby. With the tanking economy, more folks are staying home and playing. I'm excited by the buzz. The Hudsons, '50 Olds, and '57 Ford in particular but then I'm an old fart. -

Scale auto renaissance?

Martinfan5 said younger modelers get left out, and he's right. I can understand and sympathize, but what car out today would get kids juices flowing? I myself have no idea. Everything you see on the road today is a jellybean where you can't tell a Toyota from a Hyundai from a Nissan from a Honda. We older folks want and build what we lusted for as teens, what do teens today lust for? I see the entire auto industry going away in my children's and grandchildren's lifetimes as they all get around in transport 'pods' of some type that do all the work, you punch in your destination and sit back and play with your iphone until you get there. Would anyone buy a kit of a Subaru or Kia? -
I don't know if they're worth anything, but they're great kits! Well detailed, 3 different size tires, full tube frame, I enjoyed building them. The back tires make great pro-street meats.
-
Amazing! Very well done. Engine detail is just right. Leave the vent window, we used to run like that on hot days, 2-70 air conditioning (roll down both windows and go 70mph)

And We've lost another one now

What's the difference if you are in the construction business and your kid gets killed by a bulldozer? Tragedy is just that. -

Plane crashes, while tragic, don't have the same effect as a fatality on the race track (except for the air race fatality recently). We take for granted these days how "safe" racing anything from go-carts to Funny Cars is but the danger is part of the attraction for spectators and participants alike. The footage of the Indycar crash in Vegas was both horrifying and riveting. Drivers know every time they go on the track what could happen, and maybe they are narcissistic adreline junkies, but so are we. I salute anyone with the fortitude to go out there and risk life and limb for our entertainment. They earn those big (and not so big) paychecks IMHO.
