Midnight up staying is what we did on New Years Eve; playin' board games, watching Mr. Bean new years special 1993, and what not.

Got curious again about the vintage kits of my interest for sale, so I just thought why not check ebay for the heck of it; not intending to buy, just to gauge prices. Searched up my favourite vintage kit, (the JoHan 1960 Plymouth hardtop) you know, just to see if there's any selling. I see an original issue in a mint box, all complete, parts still on the tree and everything. I see the price: $785 holy smokes it's not missing a decimal point anywhere. Question, I know some of you have vintage kits, I'd like to know how did you get them? Kept them from a long time ago? Managed to find a great deal? Or did you end up spending a bus load on one? There must be some smart way to get into vintage kits. I know I only ever purchased two, an original issue near mint MPC '70 Bonneville sports hauler ($40), and a pretty mint 1966 issue of the Monogram '58 T-bird ($50). But there were other cool kits at the same place that were entering the price range of that Plymouth I just mentioned. So I guess if you have any knowledge on how to go about buying vintage kits, that would be cool

just as bad (side question has anyone ever tried to read this entire story from page one to now? I attempted but just got to page 30 something. It's a commitment.)

Your Favourite Vintage Car Commercial

If you think that one's corny, check out the '59 Olds ad, also with Florence Henderson. "O-L-D-S, that's Olds, pronounced NEW, and that's news, GOOD NEWS"🤣 -

1969 AMC Rebel Commercial- it's a fun one -
WOW that's gorgeous; absolutely love the 1960 Plymouths. Was hoping to get my hands on a '60 Hardtop but if I can even get I wagon I'd be satisfied. I like how it's mildly customized with the wheels and the engine 👍

I find that snow also helps with realism, and totally outside is ideal. Was hoping to experiment with perspective to make a car look real size in front of a real garage but it was a little too snowy today. On calm snow days it's really neat. The photos of my 1962 Pontiac Catalina are the most real appearing ones I took so far.

Yeah that 428 has caught my eye a couple times when looking at Thunderbirds for sale. 1966 is my favourite year of the 64-66 'birds cause the '66 front end looks somewhat like a Mustang with four headlights so it adds to the sportiness.

Cool stuff, i really like that '60 Custom Ford; I too have the Thunderbird bubble top and I was actually thinking about using it on a customizing 1961 Ford but it never happened. I was a little unsure of how to make that work, but you did an excellent job on yours there.

Alternate Fuel Challenge 1970
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah I noticed that one too; there's also a '70 Coronet, a couple of '70 Mustangs, a '70 El Camino, and a '70 Ranchero. Basically muscle cars but remember, none of those cars in the photo run on gas. Doin' that to a muscle car today would be a crime -

That's a cool commercial; and if you really want to dance, the Plymouth ads, 1960, 1961, and '64 Valiant are pretty groovy. They're at the very top of the topic if you're interested. -
would see that

That's pretty slick; I just recently built a stock sleeper version. Your drag car is super awesome.

This build was inspired by the first classic car we went to look at back in May 2022. It was a 1966 Thunderbird that had been sitting since '93. It was baby blue with a white top, but it was a little crusty. Had a black interior and 1972 hubcaps. Also had the regular roof as opposed to the Town coupe. The car ran but made clanking noises. It was a restoration project, but we really didn't have any space for such an endeavour, so this model is a showcase of what I would've done to the real car, had we purchased it.

Recently found the actual very first kit I put together, Revell's Snap Tite 1957 Chevy Bel Air. 10 years ago I put it together just like it was depicted on the box, no trim painting, no grill black wash, applied the decals, never cut the burrs off of some pieces, and it looked kinda dumb. BUT, as 2024 came to a close I figured I'll re-build it, and so I used all the skills I learned building kits and gave it a two-tone treatment, as well as detailing everything. Changed the wheels to the ones my 1960 Impala came with, which proved problematic, but they're good now. Re-completed January 1st, 2025.

What is your NUMBER 1 favorite movie car
Falcon Ranchero replied to Thedragsterdude's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Or These It's funny because if you watched Herbie the Love Bug, Ralph's Hot Rod shows up in the Mexican Road Race scene. That was in 1968.- 174 replies
