  1. Forgot to mention one other thing I did for my grandma was rebuild the "shack" so to speak; it was an unsightly structure built by my grandfather and his pals in the 80s with a bucket of screws and 2 cases of beer. Constructed out of actual tree logs for the frame and roofed with that wavy type sheet metal and a mix of wood/metal sides and rear. No front door; was for the fourwheeler and lawn mower in the summer, and the 1953 Massey Fergeson in the winter. Neighbors cats kept using the shack as a litter box since the base of the shack is just sandy gravel. So I took off the rotten wood, added double doors on the front, added more wood on the sides replacing the sheetmetal that was on the sides and put that on the back of the shack so now the whole thing is enclosed and is an impenetrable fortress. Painted it all red, too.
  2. For an Edsel, good thing you don't drive one Every Day Something Else Leaks
  3. Most of my videos were way too large to load on here; I only got '60 Ford to show you
  4. Bench seats are neat; sat in one when I test drove a '92 Ford Truck, and a '69 four-door Nova; they should bring them back.
  5. I was hoping the local Princess Auto would take me but one, there are no openings, and two, my dad inquired one day and they only accept online applications. I was kinda sold on the idea of being a stock boy; my dad was in his early days. Funny you mention Corner Gas; seen all the episodes and the movie.
  6. I mean i've been helping my grandma since my grandfather died in 2021; picked up where he left off I guess. No veg garden anymore though. But the property is large and so it keeps me busy; mowing the multiple fields or "lawns" if they'd even be classified as that since they're so large; take an hour for each one, with the riding lawn mower which is the same age as me. Painted the railings and cement stairs to both the front and rear doors, re-painted the 1980 something screen doors, did all the window sills, the garage roof overhangs, and misc stuff in/around the house. Yesterday put all of her Christmas deco up; the tree, ornamented it, got replacement lights for one of her early 2000's maybe late 90s window hanging wreath frame as the original cable finally stopped working 2 years ago. Wierd because the christmas tree and candle frames still work and the three came together. One more thing I gotta find one of her Christmas table cloths; the only one unaccounted for... gonna try looking later. Wouldn't call it taking care of her but I just like to make sure the place is nice because I really like being there.
  7. celebrating 60th anniversary
  8. If I do get one it would be just like a weekend-after school type deal; one of our classes is actually having us submit resumes/cover letters into the MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) and also for co-op placement they're basically giving us jobs over the summer so it will happen regardless; just having some work experience to put on a resume would be nice.
  9. IMPEDIMENT: give me an "I" give me an "M" give me a "P" give me an "E" give me a "D" give me an "I" give me an "M" give me an "E" give me an "N" give me a "T", what's that spell; IMPEDIMENT! Whoo!
  10. Being 18 and never having a job is kinda worse; the situation I'm in now. First applied to the Library in April; but they don't need anyone. Most of the odd job stores around here want you to submit an online resume; which may sort of be the reason why it's a little tricky. Went to American Eagle store in Traverse City back in October and they had a table out front with a stack of blank job application forms and a pencil; wished they were doing that around here. Then college happened and I've been swamped with loads of school work so a job during that time would be null and void as I haven't the time for a job now. BUT our Christmas break starts a week earlier than high or elementary schools and so with that 3-4 weeks off I'm hoping to get something going. Good luck to you man; you're not the only one feeling down about not having a job.
  11. Like the Red Stude Hawk and the '59 Impala holy smokes and that '55 or '56 Montclair Mercury
  12. My Great Uncle said that Corvairs absoultely sucked when it came to winter driving, in reference to the photo with the '60. His wife my great aunt had a Corvair before they were married I think and he despised the thing. It wouldn't start at all in the cold.
  13. That '61 Monarch sure is nice; can't be a whole lotta those around
  14. Hey that’s really nice, man, I read that those cars were sorta like the first in the muscle cars genre
  15. That’s my main concern, too since they’re on a grass lawn and there is a tree with leaves that fall onto said lawn and the cars have been in that spot since mid November so moisture collection has probably been occurring beneath them.

  17. Even those ones are relatively cheap; there's one about 2 hours away from us, a '63 (my favourite year of the Rocket Birds) had it at $17,000, now down to $12,000 which is pretty reasonable looking at all the photos. And actually there's a 1961 just a minute away in our subdivision that's been for sale for years at $15,000. But in 2021 the owner put a stupid Flame Job on it so we'd have to scrape that off, but even then it (and the 1964 Comet Villager he also owns) have been sitting out on the front lawn for years, also; though he does drive them occasionally and tends to them in his garage. But he's left the Bird out in the snow for the past 4 years, and the two of them are covered with 5 feet of snow as we speak. Hoping maybe to thoroughly check them out in spring, just to find out more about the cars. This photo was taken last year, but this year the snow's so high they're just two generic white car shapes
  18. My Great Uncle has a 65 Bird that he restored almost 40 years ago; said the rear quarters were crust so he did fix them but the car became a little hefty in the hindquarters after the addition of more metal and so the fender skirts wouldn’t fit right so he just leaves them off. Also now the horn doesn’t work, nor the speedometer and the wiper lever is spring loaded and the electric windows are tired. But still they’re nice cars once everything is in order
  19. I never saw them as toys; even though I bought a few from Toys R Us; even when in 2012 when I was a wee lad my dad was trying to show me how to build a kit via the one we got him for his birthday that year which was Revell's 1941 Chevy truck. I'd sit for maybe 5 minutes and then be off playing with hotwheels (which are toys). So that truck went back in the box half complete for years. Even looking through the box of unbuilt kits my dad had I never thought of them as toys per say. Then in 2021 when covid put us to online learning, there was less to do and so I finished that '41 Chevy truck and by then caught the kit bug. So no I don't believe they're toys; most say ages 13 or 14+ anyway so they wouldn't be classified as childish toys.
