1/25 AMT 1969 Ford Galaxie Hardtop

I saw this kit making the rounds on the forum; I would totally pick one up and build the XL GT; does the kit come with those stripes or would I have to come up with stripes myself? I'd paint it all white with red stripes; saw a photo of one with that colour scheme in a book I read but couldn't find the example online. Red and white is nice, too, also green and black... -
I like all three; Chevelles are nice cars; owning one would be cool.

Bored build New inspiration…
Falcon Ranchero replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Typically I don't get bored while building a kit, it's the starting the build, I tend to stall getting all the supplies layed out and that usually defines whether or not I want to build a kit. Once I get going I usually don't stop unless I have other things to do OR because certain things don't fit right and I need to step away for a while. One time I built the '63 Nova wagon in one day, didn't get bored just kept on chuggin' along. That's why it's not the greatest build quality. I'm sure once I get older I may get bored occasionally but I know right now I follow through with a build mainly because I like to see a finished product. Never walked away because of boredom or started a different kit while still working on another. -
$900,000 would get me all the classic cars I want, plus a place to store them

Teen is the time I'm in right now building kits and it is a fun pass-time, but my only parts stash is a small ziploc bag with misc. accessories from '70s Van kits plus two incomplete engines, as well as no stashed kits since I built all the ones my dad stashed in the '90s.

Not technically model car stuff but still usefull for reference; this was shipped to the book store for pick up yesterday. Really pleased considering I ordered it "sight unseen" in the sense that I couldn't flip through the pages. It's all about Australian cars which I thought would be neat to read about after reading 3 different books about the history of American Muscle cars in a row- not that I didn't enjoy reading those books.

This is my third secondhand 1966 Mustang fastback. Revell's 1998 issue of the Hertz rental. BUT I already have the signature black and gold Shelby so I had a little more freedom with this Mustang... Since it was secondhand that means it had been attempted to be built; mainly being painted red atrociously with a brush, and unpainted interior compartment glued in as well as the windsheilds front and rear. The rear one was covered with glue so I tried my best to hide that. Headlights were also missing but my 1966 Buick Wildcat kit came with neat square ones so I put those in. The tailights are custom on the 'stang but stock 1966 Buick Wildcat units. also the little rear back up lights in the bumper are stock 1960 Impala units. The elephant in the room is that black vinyl top, which wasn't actually an option on the '66 fastback as far as I know. I was curious to see what one would look like on a fastback so on it went. The side stripes in the cove are actual late 70s decals to add to the '70s vibe I was trying to achieve.

Well that's ok; like you stated earlier the actual Chestnut colour is available from MCW which would make for a more authentic build anyway. I just wanted to know the colour beforehand so if I ever do find the kit I won't be scrambling to find the correct colour. Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

Back in grade 12 for the art show we had at the school in January this past year. They're cars my grandfather owned back in the day. -
Canada Post strike effective NOW.
Falcon Ranchero replied to iamsuperdan's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well good now the post is back up and running as of Tuesday, being forced back to work. I mean striking while it's Christmas, thee most busiest mail-wise time of the year is and odd choice; but I hope they can come to some sort of agreement once the holidays are over -

I did in fact find a built example here on the forum of the '66 so I don't really need to see another, but hey if you get the chance or if it's not too much trouble I definitely wouldn't mind seeing a few more. I am actually going to have the kit ordered after the holidays so I'll be able to build one.

You're 100% right, it just gets me sometimes when I want to build a car that represents a family car for nostalgia purposes, such as the '62 Gal but also the '65 T-bird, knowing that the kits do in fact exist but are tricky to get a hold of. In terms of the Mercury kits I'd like to know too what happened to those; I have the reissue of the '64 Marauder but there was a '63 breezeway in the family back then i'd also like to build.

I built that kit; kinda wish I hadn't as I was put off it when I found out I spent $31 US on a kit which there was no engine for, but plans were to cut the roof off, put the big bubble top on that came with my '58 Thunderbird kit, and makeshift larger fins for the back but that didn't happen so the photo below is what became of it. Your plan for a Starliner is way cool, good luck.
